learning this right now to open a farmers market in Bracebridge Ontario Canada in 2 weeks!! Glad I found this beautiful version for inspiration! Wish I had some pipes or a fiddle to accompany! Wow Manran...amazing!!
Very well done. I love both Manran and the Corries. It kind of sounds like they took the very simple Corries version that relies mainly on the voices and not the instrumentation but I think the drums distract. I'd like it better without.
This is a great version. If you love this song, then try the version that Joan Baez taught to. Dylan. There is a poor recording and never released, but magic anyway..
Agree Maxi. I just thought the production and arrangement side of things could've been designed to/had potential to take off more into the stratosphere over the mountains. Room for more of a build up emotionally and musically in the arrangement 2nd half. ty
And as for your comment “sounds like she bats for the other side”, that’s a rare talent you have there. Being able to class someones sexuality by the way they sing! Think about the words you type before you post, it’s an idiotic comment and nothing to do with the music.
When she sings “by yon' pure crystal fountain”, I just melt. The musicians are so good. I’m a new fan of Mànran.
I’ve been away from my highland home for 50 years. This song, sung in that beautiful Oban accent just fills we with joy and nostalgia.
I was at the show that night. Hearing the crowd joining in it was fantastic!
Beautiful version - love the song and especially with the wonderful accent!
Aye, she,s got a guid grip o SCotland.

Ella Roberts sings another rare version of this song , so beautifully .
What do you mean? Her voice is so boring. So blah.
Absolutely sung beautifully, stunning song , 👍🏴
I thought I'd never find a version I liked more than that of the Corries, but this... this is just absolute perfection.
Agreed!

Joan Baez live performance in 1965 Edinburgh is amazing, very different.
try Christine Parker as well...just her and guitar sounding beautiful and recorded in a church that sounds beautiful as well.

Sounds like she bats for the other side. Either way, nice rendition. Doesn't quite take off as alluded to. ty 4 music
@TheBlueskyson. Don’t know what you’re listening to… Kim Carnie has the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard!
