Once again, thank you 😊 for informing me on how to take care of an RC boat. Knowing my luck, I’d buy (or build) the boat, and have waterlogged circuit boards, and ruined 😠 motors. The area where the propeller shafts, where they enter the boat, is particularly important, especially with the screws needing to be tight there. Grease is another vital component to maximum RC boat life. What are some of the maintenance 🧑🔧 procedures, if I run an RC boat in salt water (i.e., the ocean)? Would I totally ruin my RC boat, or the propellers, and propeller shafts? Is there such a thing as a salt 🧂 water RC boat? Again, your friend, Jeff.

I’d highly recommend the purple/ low strength thread lock for RC use.
Blue is a bit much and can lead to stripped screws.

BigB, I see @10:56 you left an important gap of 1-2mm ...explain that for the newbs, allows the flex cable to expand and contract

I never 👎 knew this, especially with toy 🧸 grade RC boats. These types of RC boats 🛥️ are usually sealed together. Taking them apart will usually ruin the body of the boat 🛥️, and make it lose water 💧 resistance. Your RC boat 🛥️ looks so much better than a toy 🧸 grade one ☝️. Can ya tell me where to buy This kind of RC boat? I really like the twin propellers. How much would I expect to pay for this very RC boat? I’m guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of $230.00. The weight of the velcro shouldn't effet the cg on the boat at all. Boats aren't quite as weight sensitive as airplanes.

It'll take 4s stock, run a light weight 4s pack 4000mah or so....
Definitely helpful; though to be honest for the price - it's kind of backwards that you (the general you, not you specifically) have to do all this stuff out of the box as if the factory does such a horrid job that if you don't do all this stuff something will break. I guess one could argue that that's apart of "hobby grade" stuff; but not everyone wants to be a miniature mechanic with their vehicles, just like most people don't bust out the wrenches and things when they get a new car :)
I'm sure all this stuff is preventative - but an absolute beginner like me, doesn't want to secure screws with locktite (making them harder to remove in future if need be) - and the rudder "it feels good" - you only know that because you're not a beginner. That's all - just a caution.
Perhaps some of this stuff isn't required but recommended if you're confident in it. Personally on a $100 boat I'd be inclined to tinker, but not having a lot of experience tinkering, last thing I want to do is impact or unintentionally break my new expensive boat.
EDIT: As I continue to watch, I think the tone softens a bit and gets more encouraging / optional. Still good stuff overall.
EDIT 2: I actually had a soft pack (the included one) battery bang around a bit, scrapped some of the packaging off but the enclosure looks fine. I added the velcro strip that came with the boat, plus the 1 strap and that made a world of difference.
I give up. I literally give up trying to help others get the most from there boats.
Just run the boat dude. No need to grease and oil stuff. Run it hard and put it away wet. You'll See just how long your new boat will last
@@IRONCLADRC Hey there, don't give up - I realize I came off like a jerk, and I sincerely apologize for that. It's super hot here and I'm cranky :) so that's my bad.
I totally get you're trying to be helpful and encourage new owners / demonstrate that its alright to open it up and tinker around. I'd definitely say given the cost to bring it up here and the currency conversion - plus a second/bigger battery, better charger, small toolkit, etc - my first RC boat cost me about $800-825 all in. The boat alone is about $550 after tax up here.
So given all that outlay, and my super newness to hobby grade stuff, I just wanted to figure out the flex shaft maintenance stuff and to see all that other stuff it kind of irked me that buying a brand new boat needed all those steps. I can see if you're confident with tools and stuff that this process would be nothing but new and exciting. For me though, with an added visual impairment this stuff is nerve wrecking and tedious. But that's on me.
I will say, doing the flex shaft grease work wasn't that bad - but given I took it out every other day for 7 days, doing it every time seems a bit excessive. But I'm gathering people don't go RC'ing that regularly (I was on vacation on an island, so water just out the door).
Anyways again, my apologies for coming off like a jerk - your enthusiasm just caught me off guard, not wanting to do all of those things just because.
I will still ponder though if the locktite and stuff is really necessary or better something thats optional but keep an eye on it. i.e more "Hey if you start seeing more water then usual in the boat, here's some tips (lock tite the screws, foam here, sealant here, tape, etc) - but I'll say after probably 5-7 runs draining the battery every time, I only had a little water inside each time (drained through the drain plug, wiped down inside/out and let sit with the top off.
Sorry if that's a ramble, but seriously - keep up the good work.
The piece on the steering pushrod with grub-screw that bolts to the black rudder arm, is that upgraded? I just bought one of these and it's different than what's on mine. On my second run out that piece snapped, looking for an upgrade. Great video for the novice RC boater!
Yes it's an upgraded part which may require drilling the stock hole larger on the rudder steering arm

I am making a little bait casting long range boat… would it be bad if I have a “waterproof” brushless motor directly in the lake water.
Depends on what motor your running. I wouldn't advise running a brushless motor totally submerged
What prop do you recommend on 4cell? Do the links in the description help you?
Octura m440 on 4s I hit 56 mph on 4s with the m440. & yes sir using the links does help me out
Hey quick question, am I supposed to be able to move the propellor while holding the motor still? There’s a little bit of a flex to it..

No, if your holding the motor shaft & flex cable stationary, and the prop spins your drive dog isn't grabbing the shaft. You may need a new grub screw or the drive dog needs to be tightened with loc-tite.. worst case you'll need a new 3/16 small drive dog

my currently struggling with my recoil 2 taking on water. water testing in my pool and the lake with zero water not driving but as soon as i drive it for a battery gets about a cup of water inside her, she’s also fully taped up fyi so not sure where to check for leaks now

put the boat in water pull the trigger with the hatch off, (no prop) watch the end of the flex cable for water entering the boat where collet flex connection is.
I had a leak where the stuffing tube goes into the boat, (stuffing tube thru hull) The stuffing tube adhesive had broken loose.
DON'T FORGET TO GREASE YOUR SHAFT! VERY IMPORTANT.
What about motor bearings? Do you ever lube them?
I've been using corrosion X for all my rc bearings. I use to use high speed bearing lube but corrosion X seems to work much better imo

If I got rust or water that has given my motor an ugly sound, do I grease it and is that fine to do?
Probably the motor bearings, oil the bearings with high speed bearing oil or thin oil of some sort, I use corrosion x on all my motor bearings. Bearing may need to be replaced

I've found that it doesn't like esc over 100a they turn the motor to hard. Flycolor 90 is a good upgrade

So I was testing the boat and it wasn’t strapped it was out of the water and there’s a hole and I see a little bit of yellow is this ok?
There's a hole where? In the hull, Or the battery tray?
@@IRONCLADRC it’s on the battery it rubbed against the battery causing a little hole but I tested it and it crashed and caught on fire so now I have to fix it 😭😭😭

3200 - 4000mah 90-150c will fit perfectly 5000mah+ you'll most likely need a soft pack, check measurements while choosing a battery

Why does the back rudder even have to come up?
When you hit debris while running the rudder needs to kick up, if it does not it will rip the back of your boat off
I'm terra firma RC oriented. But no RC boat has caught my attention as this Recoil 2 has. I just need a lake less than $20 round trip in my car to halfway justify it(and a retrieval boat). And 'Brandon' sure ain't helping things.

Way before you make your modification for the battery line you put metal spring on the bend u water line ,and you put on your modifications is not anymore the metal spring on the water line ??¿¿ Not make sense .
It didn't need the spring there was no kink. I was just showing you guys a trick for a kinked line on an esc.
