UA-cam is a wealth of knowledge . Most generally someone else has had the same trouble and documents the solution and fix . A Big Thanks to those Folks . !
I hope that solves your problem Heath. I had to chuckle because I’ve often thrown new parts at a problem trying to fix things myself, only to find out it was a simple issue that a professional mechanic would have found first. However, It sure feels good when you DO fix a problem yourself.
Yes it does. I’ve had it both ways. Thrown parts at it and failed and I’ve paid professionals and they failed too only for me to fix it later myself. Sometimes it seems like I can’t win lol.
Yes Heath it is that Problem. Mice Got in my Honda Generator and Destroyed my Wires. I had to take it in to be Fixed. I didn't know but now I do, Liquid Electrical Coating. It will work. Let me Know as I heal from my Chainsaw incident. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Check your cover, or where the wires are closest to metal, and see if you have obvious arc marks. That'll give you an indicator of the wires shorting out. Just a reassurance that you are on the right path.
Ive delt with cross fire issues a number of times. . The oddest one was a 6v system that was converted to 12v battery and everything else was still 6v. . it would start the engine with the distributor cap, a good foot from the distributor. . So id say yes, its a good chance its the wiring.
Are there any flash codes on the FI error indicator light? I think there’s more wiring damage than what we just seen. Do some resistance checks on ignition coils and voltage checks on coil input wires.
When I store my Kubota tractor over the winter, I always place a tray of moth balls in the vicinity of the electrical components. I've read that mice do not like the smell of the moth balls. So far, I haven't had a problem. I hope that the Liquid Electrical Coating/Tape solves your problem. Honda engines normally run well and tend to be very dependable.
Wow! Pink Flamingo got you with the Frosty! But you're right, sometimes when you start pulling things you see an obvious problem. Dig in, you'll find out. Hope fluffy isn't chewing on my wires!
Oh my mr heath I sure hope you found it but sad about the parts as well …but rest assured it doesn’t make you an idiot trust me all the guys would have been in the same boat so not to worry and if they won’t take them back then wrap them up nice and neat and sell them with the machine as an added bonus feature Just now you know just remove the cover and check the wiring Not to worry my friend it’s all good …. Plus your willing to show it everyone else would cut that part out you know it and I know it That’s why I enjoy Your videos their real and their true thank you And say hello the the lovely mrs. Rachel ❤❤❤
Ha! I had a similar problem with a Kawasaki engine on a Hustler mower. I had brought my mower out of the winter moth balls and had half the power as usual. Wound up, mice had gotten in behind the flywheel and made a nest. I couldn't believe how much was in there. I cleaned it out and WA-LA!
hi there just change the plugs next if needed ,if you change everything at the same time you may fix the problem but won't know what it was , the plugs they use in the hondas act strange , they make the engine act like there is water in the tank , the plugs look good and will fire but stop firing , , the wires are made of soy bean oil , thats why mice chew on them john
Get some Bounce dryer sheets, and use them like a polishing rag inside there, and then crumple them up and jam them in a crevice. Mice don't like the smell. I use it in my engine compartments and other places.
Hope you get that Honda purring again! Prople often wonder why mice chew in the wire insulation. It's because one of the components used in the insulation is corn starch, and thats what attracts the rodents. Looking forward to the next video!
@hardworkingmanoutdoors well,, good luck! That wiring issue you found is definitely a possibility! Please keep us in the loop with what you find! All of my small engines run a carburetor, so I'm not going to be much more help F.I. is better performance and efficiency, I'm just a simple guy.
If the insulation is gone on those wires it's going to arc. Remember electricity takes the path of least resistance. So that errant voltage has no way to reach the plug. Who knew, well you do now and that wire coating should seal everything up and stop the coil wire from arcing. Good luck but it seems like you've found your problem. They'll take the parts back, they weren't even open. Just check it periodically to make sure there's no more meeses.
Anything that is shipped from overseas has been sprayed with soy bean oil... to help with salt air and rust or corrosion.... Varmits with sharp teeth love the taste
The automotive honda group makes an electrical tappe that rodents hate and will not chew Ii think it has hot pepper juice iin it . Might be worth a try
UA-cam is a wealth of knowledge . Most generally someone else has had the same trouble and documents the solution and fix . A Big Thanks to those Folks . !
For sure! Let’s hope we get it going again!
Thanks for bringing us along on your journey, even if it goes a bit sideways from what you thought.
Definitely, it’s all about learning and helping others.

If you can't sell the parts, upgrade the coil anyway!

Will do Ron, hopefully you’re back up and running soon! Definitely scary when stuff like that happens.
Check your cover, or where the wires are closest to metal, and see if you have obvious arc marks. That'll give you an indicator of the wires shorting out. Just a reassurance that you are on the right path.
Thanks, it’s tough to see with the engine mounted but I’ll double check.
Ive delt with cross fire issues a number of times.

I’ve heard Pine-Sol cleaner keeps the varmints away. Hope it fixes it. And you can send the parts back. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
I’m definitely going to do something to try to keep them away.
Are there any flash codes on the FI error indicator light? I think there’s more wiring damage than what we just seen. Do some resistance checks on ignition coils and voltage checks on coil input wires.
No codes. Re coating the wires fixed it.
Awe man mice are so destructive! Are you going to Bunyan this year? I got so much going on with the house not sure if I’m making it gonna try
Yes they are. We are going to Bunyan! If you can make it we always have a good time.

Thanks, I thought of that too. Mice are a pain.
I can't wait to see the results. Hope it's the easy 👍
I hope so too, we need the All Wood back in the action.
Wow! Pink Flamingo got you with the Frosty! But you're right, sometimes when you start pulling things you see an obvious problem. Dig in, you'll find out. Hope fluffy isn't chewing on my wires!
Mice are such a pain!
Hope that work Heath, video how that liquid electric tape works. If you can thanks.
We’ll be doing a follow up soon.
Heath,if it would’ve been me I’d have been taken it to a Honda engine repair shop seeing you still had time on your warranty 😮😊❤
Probably should have but I’m a bit impulsive.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors critter damage is not usually warrantable so would have had a diagnosis charge anyway.
is the plug wire a metal conductor or a carbon filament? can you switch the left and right cylinder components to narrow it down to a single part?
I found the problem, mice chewed the coil wires.
Oh my mr heath I sure hope you found it but sad about the parts as well …but rest assured it doesn’t make you an idiot trust me all the guys would have been in the same boat so not to worry and if they won’t take them back then wrap them up nice and neat and sell them with the machine as an added bonus feature

Thanks David, will do!

I hope it fixed it .
We’ll find out soon!
Mice are a constant issue here, I would replace the wires, good luck👍🇺🇸
Thanks, I may have to replace them completely. We’ll see.

Thanks John! Always appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
That is one hell of an awesome splitter!
I agree, it’s a beast!
Hopefully the liquid tape works you may have to cut and splice the wires if the tape won’t work.
I was thinking the same thing.
Get some Bounce dryer sheets, and use them like a polishing rag inside there, and then crumple them up and jam them in a crevice. Mice don't like the smell. I use it in my engine compartments and other places.
Thank you for the tip! I’ll definitely give it a shot!
Hope you get that Honda purring again!
Prople often wonder why mice chew in the wire insulation. It's because one of the components used in the insulation is corn starch, and thats what attracts the rodents.
Looking forward to the next video!
Thanks, I’d pay extra for rodent resistant coating!
Seems like a fuel delivery issue to me. Cant get enough fuel to support higer rpms.
That was my initial thought too but the weak cylinder has unburnt fuel.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors well,, good luck! That wiring issue you found is definitely a possibility! Please keep us in the loop with what you find!

Thanks Stephen, I sure hope so.
U should spray some type of small animal deterrent on that machine to keep the critters away when not being used
Definitely have to do something.
They have a 3 year warranty! Found out with my igx 700
Thanks, that’s good to know.
Well crap!😂 Probably the bare wires! That place should take the parts back?
Yes it was. I think I’ll keep them for the future.
Anything that is shipped from overseas has been sprayed with soy bean oil... to help with salt air and rust or corrosion.... Varmits with sharp teeth love the taste
Apparently so. I didn’t know that.
it will fix it 😊
You were right.
Heath check the wires beyond what you can see incase there’s more.
Thanks Brian. I checked them up to where they go into the machine or into wire bundles.
Time will tell!!
They do add a peanut oil on the wire and squirrel will chew on the wires had it happen on my truck, live in a wooded area
Got it back up and running. Going to have to deter the mice so it doesn’t happen again.
I'm betting the issue lies with the wiring exposed.
Yes it did. All fixed now.
Keep the parts you just bought for your log splitter you never know when you will need them and make sure you know where you put them
I think that’s what I’m going to do.
I hate the suspense of having to wait a day!
I had to go to work before I got a chance to test it. I wanted to see if it worked too.
I'm going to bet that the liquid electrical tape solves it, if I win can Andrew from Eastonmade send me a new Axis for home LOL
lol, not sure on the Axis.
Hope the liquid electric tape solves your problem and the company will take them back!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David!
Happens to all of us - what is worse is when we have to buy new tools to install new parts...
...that you don't need
Definitely! I’ve done that before too.
Get some wood cats from Chris from in the wood yard.
There was a cat around but that didn’t last too long when my Dachshund got a hold of it.
The automotive honda group makes an electrical tappe that rodents hate and will not chew Ii think it has hot pepper juice iin it . Might be worth a try
Thanks. I’ll have to check it out.
Tell your. Wife she is. Good looking
Thanks Ralph. Will do.
1st!
Thanks.
Darn mouse 🐁
For real!
