Angus plays all of Malcolm’s rhythm parts and then still plays all of the face melting solos. Malcolm is a good song writer and adequate rhythm player however Angus is the obvious guitar phenomenon in AC/DC. Malcolm certainly was not.
I saw an interview with Angus a few years ago and the guy asked him if he was the greatest guitar player in rock and roll? Angus replied " I'm not even the best guitar player in my own band." Total respect for both of them.
How talented were the Young family. They changed Rock "N' Roll forever, not just Australia but the whole world. George, Malcolm & Angus - you guys put Australia on the music map, producing 2 of the best ever bands. Much love forever.
Angus plays all of Malcolm’s riffs and rhythms and Angus still plays mind blowing solos that Malcolm couldn’t touch. Malcolm is overhyped. Stevie plays Malcolm’s rhythm and riffs and AC/DC still sounds as great as ever.
A magnificent driving force on all members, from one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time, because you all are musicians for eternity, God Bless you all my brothers !!!
In spite of his enormous well deserved success, The Late Malcolm Young always remained humble and modest. He was a very gifted guitarist and songwriter, and his live performances were always a joy to watch. Together with his just as talented brother Angus, they were the best guitar duo ever. As for a favourite Malcolm song/riff, there’s so many good ones, some stand out ones are Riff Raff, Let There Be Rock, and many others. R.I.P. Malcolm Young.
A great tribute, to an extraordinary song writer and rhythm guitar player. I am currently learning Malcolm's parts in AC/DC songs. It is absolutely awesome. What a player and creative powerhouse.
I think firing managers would not be easy for those who want to get positive vibe from others. If malcolm is a person who care people shit more than his ethics then i dont think the band would survive
There’s a rhythm part that Malcolm plays near the end of It’s A Long Way To The Top If You Want to Rock And Roll that just gives me goosebumps and an adrenaline rush every single time that I hear it. He changes the rhythm up ever so slightly and adds subtle variations that is a a hidden gem. Sometimes it f n brings me to tears man. Along with the bagpipes playing along as the song trails off into silence, it will always be my favorite moment of Malcolm’s and the band. The second best moment is the end of Little Lover, where the band stops for a few seconds, and then comes back with a slow blues swamp that has both Malcolm and Angus trading lead fills along with their rhythm parts. Still heartbroken that Mal is gone.
I've been a hardcore AC/DC fan since I was 11 years old (now 46) From going to the first show Monsters of Rock (Gentofte '91) Dressed in my homemade (mom-made) schoolboy uniform. To the point of having a huge tattoo of their logo on my underarm. AC/DC has been in my life for so long and mean the world to me. The loss of Malcolm was hard, even more so as he died on my birthday. So needless to say, that day is not so happy for me anymore. Thank you so much for it all Malcolm and especially for "Down Payment Blues" 😢
My favorite AC/DC song is shoot to thrill because you can really hear Malcom’s guitar work in that song. I was lucky enough to see AC/DC twice during their stiff upper lip tour and was blown away by their performance.
R.I.P. Malcolm ROCK IN ROLL GENIUS thank you for all your hard work, thank you for your grind and grit through out the years, can't believe you are gone but that's life ......
My favourite band member is Malcolm and nobody comes close. I'm so saddened by his death but I still listen to the music if ACDC every day. R.I.P Mal. Miss you so much 😢
Malcolm was always my favorite. He was always setting the guitar pace, that Driving Dual Guitar sound! He was happy to not be in front, happy just to be there. If I was in AC DC I would've been just like him. All my heroes are dying.
My favorite record, hands down, is Powerage. Malcolm Young was such a driving force in AC/DC, a real force to be reckoned with, especially for his talent, his perseverance, and his work ethic. He always made sure everything was done as great as it possibly could be. I will continue to miss him. He had rock and roll running through his veins. God bless, and rest in peace, xo
This makes me tear up every freaking time. I will forever love those two brothers from Down Under. I couldn’t imagine watching someone you’re that close with slip away mentally long before their body gives up on them.
I wash crushed in 2017 and nearly died so I never heard about Malcom’s passing. My Dad went to school with Malcom and Angus and was a friend of theirs. Hearing and seeing this its like losing an uncle that I never got to meet. Now I feel completely crushed again but this time it’s my heart that is crushed instead of my body crying 😭
@@HistoryandNostalgiaChannel I showed my Dad this and he started talking about back then and when I asked him he corrected to me.. his older brother use to play soccer with George Young and their friends every now and then on the weekends in Burwood. Just friendly games on weekends or after school. My father’s friend was a drummer who jammed with Malcom when he was forming the band but didn’t like their style because this guy was more of a surfer type than a rocker so he chose not to take part in the forming of the band. My father went to Burwood Christian brothers and Angus and Malcom went to Ashfield boys state school. I received majority of my information as a kid from my older half brother as my Dad was never one for words. Now he lives with me and he’s hitting 70 he’s starting to find words I guess lol I was going to delete this comment because I had it wrong but seeing as you liked it I thought you would like to hear how it was lol I can’t believe I had it wrong all these years and never asked and feel like a dummy for listening and trusting what my older brother use to tell me when I was a kid. My father’s family had a house in Burwood and my uncle was around George’s age and my father use to tag along. They all grew up in the same are and I ended up growing up in Homebush from 6 years old in my father’s fathers house which is just a couple suburbs away from Burwood 20 minute walk back in those days as a teenager as a kid we rode our BMX bikes everywhere and it was about a 20 minute ride as a kid. Feel pretty lucky just to have grown up where I did, such a great place back then and if I had one wish it would probably be to go back to that time. Best wishes
Down Payment Blues, and the riff under "Get myself a steady job... some responsibility. Can't even feed my cat on Social Security" will always be with me. Thanks, Malcolm.
Malcolm and the boys were a big part of my life when I was young they were young to back then only a few years older than me, my favorite band bar - non .
I had the greatest 18th birthday when I was so fortunate to see, from the front row, AC/DC opening a show with Cheap Trick on August 31st 1978 at the Paramount Theater in Portland, Oregon. Angus was right in front of us - and he took a piggyback ride throughout the theater while playing a guitar solo- I will never forget that show. Malcolm was over to the left - he was the anchor - a solid wall of sound - stacks of Marshall's in your face..
Terrific episode. Well.....I can never make up my mind as of a favorite song from AC/DC. I'll just say, "Shoot to Thrill". Whenever I hear it, it makes me want to get in the car and drive fast.
Malcom's riffs and twin guitar sound with Angus are the best hard rocking sound of my era. I been listening to AC/DC since 1980 . Power up album was a fitting tribute to Malcom and all he did for rock n roll. Miss his playing every day.
I wish I had fixed my attention upon Malcolm way more than I did. It is so easy to focus on Angus in concert, but I sure wish I would have had the sense to focus more on Malcolm. RIP sir, you are a big part of rock’n’roll history. Thank you thank you for ALL the great music you created!!!😊 favorite song- Gone Shootin
Beatin around the bush on highway to hell side 2. Love that rock a billy type tune along with everything they ever did. Amazing how you can listen to a complete album of theirs.
I will always appreciate the true practice of "no-nonsense" of his style. No crazy effects, no overly complicated riffs, hell by latter part of his career he mostly used a guitar with only 1 pick up going right into the amps, not even using a wireless system. From doing a ton of deep dive Malcolm didn't even use an overdrive channel on the amps, just clean input with a ton of gain, then he would just beat the music out of the strings. When performing live his guitar pics would only be good for one, maybe two songs. Live at Donington is a great example.
I guess that most folks think that the front man was the best, but my favorite was Malcolm. I was behind in appreciating this great band. A few of my favorites Malcolm riffs are Thunderstruck, and It’s a long way to the top …. In his own way Malcolm really stood out to me. This 73 y.o. Great Granny loves AC⚡️DC.
I saw them in 1978 with Alice Cooper. Not many people had heard of them where I live. I ran out and bought Powerage the next night. "Down Payment Blues" was the song that sold me the album. That show was incredible. I've seen lots of rock concerts, but Alice and AC/DC cannot be topped, even but the Stones Steel Wheels.
The Guitar 🎸 that Malcolm used. Was his Brother George's 🎸 in the band The Eazy Beats! That 🎸 was also used by Family member Stevie Young. After Malcolm couldn't continue touring because of his illness. The sound of that Magical 🎸 is AC/DC !
I saw them on the Fly on the wall tour. Sin city is my favorite AC/DC song. Malcom was the real deal. The most solid guitarist I ever saw live. Always in the pocket.
A fan since 77!!! Bon passing was enough, now Malcolm it's over!!! Axl rose? Are you fuckin kidding?? Last good album powerage anyway!!! So long old friend!!
I LOVED THE FIRST 6 Albums from High Voltage to Highway to Hell... Bon Scott was my Vocal Hero!!! Then I almost died in an Auto Accident on 12/6/79. Comatose until 12/25/79... Then came home from Loma Linda University Hospital on 2/23/80... So almost 3 Months in the Hospital... Not Fun at all... But, I'm still alive and able to talk about being alive after what I've been through...
It's hard to choose a "best song". Every song is an experience, a trip. I always had the impression that acdc were underrated. To me they were musical geniuses.
So so sad. Losing hero after hero effects you in the long run. Malcolm was my guitar hero for more years than I care to remember. After losing so many heroes, loved ones, pets, friends and family, I think I'm ready. I'm tired of this world now.
My favorite AC/DC song is and always will be "Highway to Hell". Angus and Malcolm were two brothers that worked so well together. they knew what each other needed to make their performances even better. when interviewed they both were so humble about what they have done. and Angus is still that way. and I'm sure that Angus misses his brother more than any of us could. but just like when Bon Scott died they had to continue making music. just like Malcolm said Bon Scott would have wanted them to. and Angus has continued because Malcolm would have wanted them to. but one things for sure Malcolm is definitely missed.
Back in the 80s on the for those about to rock tour, I met the road crew at a restaurant ended up with front row seats and backstage passes, because I had pot and they were looking for some. I went to the show the next night, and ended up in the back of a limo with Malcolm And Cliff sold them a bag, fun times
I’m so glad I got to see him play just once here in Tassie(I heard he used to come here fly fishing quite regularly) in 2001! Waiting for the song I personally love more than any other during that concert was excruciating! I hold “Let There Be Rock” as my favourite song of all time, and Malcom’s rhythm guitar in that is what drives it to another level! He obviously never wanted to be the star of the show, but he was a star nonetheless. I plan to visit Bon’s grave in a couple of weeks on a visit over to Perth too. I don’t know where Malcom’s is but I suspect the UK. That’s a bit far for me…
There are three musicians who broke my heart when they passed on John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, and Malcolm Young. If I could have any one of them back for just one more show it would be Malcolm. With Malcolm it seemed personal and very very painful. At least we got River Plate - ageless and forever I guess..
A great decade to be a teen and so many options for good Rock music . ACDC led by the best front man Bon Scott kicked butt with their songs Rocking the world
With so many killer songs, picking a favorite is so hard. That said, I think mine is What's Next To The Moon off of my favorite album, Powerage. Play it along with Sin City and you get a story of a serial gambler who ends up killing his woman. It's Malcolm's growling guitar on the album that just makes it for me. Fun Fact: The Malcolm Young Signature Jet FIrebird was the first guitar that Gretsch manufactured that featured a natural wood finish.
Malcolm Young - the driving force behind AC/DC, the rock outfit that sold more than 200m albums over 40 years to become one of the highest-grossing bands of all time. His brother Angus, the band’s lead guitarist, may have been the most recognisable character in AC/DC, largely thanks to his habit of wearing school uniform on stage, but it was Malcolm whose inventive rhythm guitar and storming riffs formed the backbone of the band’s sound. Malcolm often took the crucial decisions about the band’s strategy, and he became notorious for abruptly firing various managers, producers and band members.

@@HistoryandNostalgiaChannel Thanks for the cast it was great stuff .
Shot Down in Flames is one of my favorites. Best rhythm guitar player ever! We miss you, Malcolm!
RIP Malcolm Young
Malcolm, the heartbeat. Angus, the soul. Bon and Brian, spirit.
Cliff and Phil, the body.
RIP Malcolm Young & Bon Scott
I had the greatest 18th birthday when I was so fortunate to see, from the front row, AC/DC opening a show with Cheap Trick on August 31st 1978 at the Paramount Theater in Portland, Oregon. Angus was right in front of us - and he took a piggyback ride throughout the theater while playing a guitar solo- I will never forget that show. Malcolm was over to the left - he was the anchor - a solid wall of sound - stacks of Marshall's in your face..
RIP Malcolm Young
Terrific episode. Well.....I can never make up my mind as of a favorite song from AC/DC. I'll just say, "Shoot to Thrill". Whenever I hear it, it makes me want to get in the car and drive fast.
Thank you very much. RIP Malcolm Young
I'm a bassist but I miss my buddy Malcolm. No guitarist I've ever worked with can get that "feel" with the drums like Mal.
RIP Malcolm Young
Malcom's riffs and twin guitar sound with Angus are the best hard rocking sound of my era. I been listening to AC/DC since 1980 . Power up album was a fitting tribute to Malcom and all he did for rock n roll. Miss his playing every day.
RIP Malcolm Young
I wish I had fixed my attention upon Malcolm way more than I did. It is so easy to focus on Angus in concert, but I sure wish I would have had the sense to focus more on Malcolm. RIP sir, you are a big part of rock’n’roll history. Thank you thank you for ALL the great music you created!!!😊 favorite song- Gone Shootin
RIP Malcolm Young
My fave band of all time. Never fail to lift me
So good. RIP Malcolm Young
May You Rest in Peace Malcolm. Thank You for the amazing concerts I attended. Thank You for the Great Music.
RIP Malcolm Young
Him & his bother rocked the world 🌎
RIP Malcolm Young
@@HistoryandNostalgiaChannel Man , it was the loudest concert I've ever been to by far
Malcom still rocks in my head
Yep, me too!
Honourable mention. Tony Currenti on drums, met him a couple of times, what a nice guy he is.
RIP Malcolm, what a legend.
Yes, a legend indeed! RIP Malcolm Young
Beatin around the bush on highway to hell side 2. Love that rock a billy type tune along with everything they ever did. Amazing how you can listen to a complete album of theirs.
RIP Malcolm Young
Gone but never forgotten 💔
A whole family full of musical geniuses
I will always appreciate the true practice of "no-nonsense" of his style. No crazy effects, no overly complicated riffs, hell by latter part of his career he mostly used a guitar with only 1 pick up going right into the amps, not even using a wireless system. From doing a ton of deep dive Malcolm didn't even use an overdrive channel on the amps, just clean input with a ton of gain, then he would just beat the music out of the strings. When performing live his guitar pics would only be good for one, maybe two songs. Live at Donington is a great example.
Excellent comment. RIP Malcolm Young
Great tribute. RIP Malcolm.
Thank you. Yes, RIP Malcolm Young
Excellent! Thank you. All Hail Mal🎸🎸🎸
Thank you too! RIP Malcolm Young
Thanks for the memories! 🤘🏻
Any time!
Will be missed but never Forgotten , Never in my life time.
Yes, RIP Malcolm Young
I guess that most folks think that the front man was the best, but my favorite was Malcolm. I was behind in appreciating this great band. A few of my favorites Malcolm riffs are Thunderstruck, and It’s a long way to the top …. In his own way Malcolm really stood out to me. This 73 y.o. Great Granny loves AC⚡️DC.
RIP Malcolm Young
I saw them in 1978 with Alice Cooper. Not many people had heard of them where I live. I ran out and bought Powerage the next night. "Down Payment Blues" was the song that sold me the album. That show was incredible. I've seen lots of rock concerts, but Alice and AC/DC cannot be topped, even but the Stones Steel Wheels.
Thanks for sharing! RIP Malcolm Young
RIP Malcolm Young
Great pics.Great musicians.Thanks.
You're welcome. RIP Malcolm Young
I saw them on the Fly on the wall tour. Sin city is my favorite AC/DC song. Malcom was the real deal. The most solid guitarist I ever saw live. Always in the pocket.
Yep, he was something else. RIP Malcolm Young
Great selection of photos to close the video mate. Thank you
You're very welcome! RIP Malcolm Young
A fan since 77!!! Bon passing was enough, now Malcolm it's over!!! Axl rose? Are you fuckin kidding?? Last good album powerage anyway!!! So long old friend!!
RIP Malcolm Young
I couldn't stand rose with acdc, it wasn't acdc anymore. Glad Brian is back
I LOVED THE FIRST 6 Albums from High Voltage to Highway to Hell...
RIP Malcolm Young
First 6 albums shaped my life. It was revolutionary in those days. End of the 70's
Brilliantly put together for a true legend 🙌
Thanks Christopher! Really appreciate your feedback.
It's hard to choose a "best song". Every song is an experience, a trip. I always had the impression that acdc were underrated. To me they were musical geniuses.
RIP Malcolm Young
Today 6th jan, mal would have been 70...malcolm you will never ever be forgotten...
Excellent comment Louise. You're so right. Malcolm will never be forgotten. RIP.
all good man just keep your mind in tune with the 70s by playing /or listening to angus and malcom phil and bon😊
RIP Malcolm Young
Song thunder struck great rifle Malcolm
You are missed by millions and the Universe has a special guitar player and over the top special human!!!
RIP Malcolm Young
My favorite AC/DC song is Girls Got Rhythm on the 1979 album Highway To Hell love you Mal
RIP Malcolm Young
Yes Malcolm was the Guy. He always had His eye on the next thing. 👌
RIP Malcolm Young
So so sad. Losing hero after hero effects you in the long run. Malcolm was my guitar hero for more years than I care to remember. After losing so many heroes, loved ones, pets, friends and family, I think I'm ready. I'm tired of this world now.
RIP Malcolm Young
Malcolm was one of the greatest songwriters in Hard Rock history.
Yes he was! RIP Malcolm Young
RIP Bon Scott & Malcolm Young
He was so great i seen in concert
RIP Malcolm Young
A Touch to Much. Great groove. Great feel.
RIP Bon Scott & Malcolm Young
Back in the 80s on the for those about to rock tour, I met the road crew at a restaurant ended up with front row seats and backstage passes, because I had pot and they were looking for some. I went to the show the next night, and ended up in the back of a limo with Malcolm And Cliff sold them a bag, fun times
Great story Shane! RIP Malcolm Young
Favourite song. It a long way to the top( if you want rock n roll)
RIP Malcolm Young
malcom was one of the three greatest rhythm players rock ever had. the other two are hendrix, and evh.
RIP Malcolm Young
Ain't no fun is my long time, all time favourite.
RIP Malcolm Young
The best! Undisputed!!!
A true legend. RIP Malcolm Young
I loved it all! That is my selection of "Which song." :) They don't just make RnR bands like this anymore! :(
RIP Malcolm Young
That’s a bit far for me…
RIP Malcolm Young & Bon Scott
@@HistoryandNostalgiaChannel absolute legends, both! 👍
I wish I could travel back in time and hear AC /DC shake the Glasgow Apollo to it's foundations!
That would be a good gig! RIP Malcolm Young
RIP Malcolm Young
AreoSmlth and AC⚡DC 78 LongBeach Arena ✊
RIP Malcolm Young
Only Malcolm had his own sound a real gift.
Agree Douglas. Malcolm Young was that unique sound anchoring the band. RIP Malcolm Young.
I wish it was the 70s again
The 70s was a pretty amazing decade!
A great decade to be a teen and so many options for good Rock music . ACDC led by the best front man Bon Scott kicked butt with their songs Rocking the world
Girls got Rhythm, the Jack, Ride on,.......
AC/DC Forever !
RIP Malcolm Young
Back in Black changed my life!
RIP Bon Scott & Malcolm Young
OMG because of your video I want and watch the easybeats Friday on my mind video. What is super cool song. Love your channel just subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you! RIP Bon Scott & Malcolm Young
RIP Malcolm Young
I think it was about '82 or '83 that I saw them in Detroit. Did not hear narrator list the High Voltage album! R.I.P. Malcolm...
RIP Malcolm Young
Pick one. They're all great.
You're right. They're all great. RIP Malcolm Young
Gone shootin. The live Nashville version. Incredible.
Yes! RIP Malcolm Young
Shake a leg! It was just supposed to be a filler song on Back in Black. But it’s great. That whole album is so listenable, every song is fantastic.
RIP Malcolm Young
