Essentially anyone who spreads the belief of God, ideally effectively, is a Prophet. Where this man is effective is he is able to convince people of science that God is real by scientific data, history, trends, and widely accepted scientific theory’s. And God works through people. So what you say is actually true lol

In '89, I was in college and had found my Jesus at 16. As I grew, I wanted to learn more and love science and was engaging in lots of conversations with non believers. Someone gave me a couple of tapes of him speaking. He blew my mind open !!!!! I relate to God through nature and science. This man is the embodiment of this perspective. "I spent 2 years going through the Bible trying to find some place where it got it wrong on predicting future scientific discoveries. Never did."
What about Psalm 104 - one of the verses that talks of stretching out the heavens - where it also says "He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved".
    Anyone?

    • @lindyclaire6869
      @lindyclaire6869 8 місяців тому

Yes. The earth is a non-rotating, stationary plane.
The Bible speaks of its width, its breadth, its shape is circular, not spherical. And, The sun makes its circuit (circle) along with the moon and stars, as they move within the firmament, right, where God placed them when he created them.
Study chapter 1 carefully. Draw pictures of what you see as you read. That’s just an idea, something I had to do to really get it.
The Bible has over 200 scriptural references to the Earth, being stationary, immovable, circular, etc.; and not one single intimation that it is shaped like a ball, or sphere.
We all know that water, when released from its container, always seeks and finds level.
We were all taught that the Earth spins on its axis at over 1000 mph! And that it rotates around the sun once a year. Northstar the nort The North Star, Polaris, does not move from where it was placed by the Lord on day one.
All the other Sun, moon, and stars rotate around Polaris.
You can video the night sky and then play it back in high speed. You’ll see for yourself.
      Not true.
God placed the sun, moon, stars, and wandering stars (“ planets”) in the firmament that he created over the Earth, to separate the waters from the waters.
      We were never taught this.
Did you know there is water above us? I was stunned to find this out and yet it is right there in page one of the Bible!
We were all lied to from birth. The heliocentric model of cosmology is an anti-God scheme from Satan.
Earth is geocentric. The lights in the sky are close, they are not zillions of miles away from us. They are close, and they rotate above us each on their own timeframe.
I could go on and on, but maybe this was enough to get you started looking.
It’s crazy. It’s mind blowing because of how we’ve been taught!
If you sit out to prove that the globe is real, you will end up finding the truth.
The world is flat and stationary. And beautiful.
God resides on his throne above the firmament.
      He sees us all.
God bless you and keep you on your journey seeking the truth. 🙏

I have read the same verse from the Psalms and never once thought it meant God built blocks and planted the earth upon it or that the earth does not rotate upon its axis or revolve around the Sun for instance. Certainly even you can see that despite the earth's motility the laws it abides by when doing so are yet so inflexibly set that one could just as well describe the earth as being set on a foundation that cannot be moved. What is more, despite its rotation and revolution, we who are on its surface might as well be set upon an immovable platform. So yeah the Psalmist wasn't wrong to put it the way he did. I am so much guided by Job 26:7 that says God stretches the north over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Go look it up. You've got to understand these authors were attempting to communicate complicated aspects of creation to a world not as versed in the sciences as we are today. Imagine the challenge of just that alone.

But he is the son .
      But he is god.
That makes 2 gods. Because Jesus is a man and has a soul and a body of flesh.
      He is the son
      But he is god.
So how would he talk to him self.
Like a son to a father and vice versa cause that’s what it is.
But they are one. But they are two.

Your confusion respecting God and Jesus is because you are unable to separate fiction from reality. The expressed belief that Jesus is the Son of God is a rather curious notion. Jesus was a Galilean peasant who apparently earned a living as a carpenter until he discovered the attraction of religion while attending a baptismal gathering on the banks of the river Jordan. From this time on he wandered from village to village, living on charity and preaching life was possible after death. He would later be executed along with two criminals.
You should realise that Jesus later developed a cult following which would later become a major religion. Now if you need to believe in the existence of a god or god then you would do well to examine the behaviour and history of these alleged deitys before you decide to fall on your knees. Because you may find that the gods you pray to have feet of clay.

Day is not the same as 24 hours, not in the past and not today.
The earth is not 6,000 years old and the Bible does not teach this. Hebrews 4:9-10: "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." This tells us that the 7th day has not ended. Thus day 7 is a long time span, thus day 1 to 6 must be a long time span. Each believer are to enter into day 7. Also there no "evening and morning" for the 7th day. As day 7 as not ended. Biblical Hebrew has a limited vocabulary, with fewer words compared to other languages, such as English or Spanish. This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context. Day - yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, but the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans thus literally is:
      Sunrise to sunset
      Sunset to next sunset

Confucius & Aristotle, although brilliant & influential, are not the given reason that science could be done. When we started this in the west, it was to discover the order that God had put in place. It was believed at the time, that things were all fixed, & thus discoverable (not arbitrary). There was a renewed interest in the Greeks & Romans, & the corruption of men of power, of any stripe, were becoming easier to spot. This rebellion against the old orders, & a fervent belief in the need to connect with a higher power, caused the change.
Of course there are the Voltaires of that time, but you also have Kant & a renewed interest in men who worked in dark corners of forgotten Monasteries. Information was getting out in all kinds of new ways! The middle class was forming & becoming aware of the greater fount of cloistered knowledge.
So, although the ideas of those men were instrumental, to say they drove it, is to ignore the greater narrative of the times. Glory for God alone, not the King, was also prevalent. It was also more persecuted, since it came from poor men, not the wealthy, or the fast growing middle class. It is also less written of for the same reason, outside court documents. Although men like Napoleon, also used this abuse of the poor to gain favor.

You cannot simply whitewash out the majority of the movement & the minor movements around it, in favor of the secular discourse that also was there. I just wanted to voice the greater narrative.
I respect the views of Aristotle, I do not think you share that respect for those you speak to on the internet. You were not all wrong, but you were not all right either. Sorry it bothered you. I still hold the world made of atoms & smaller particles. Not really Aristotelian, but true.

They told the Pope sure. Convince is a bit strong of wording, especially since it took the accepted world view from an eternal universe to one with a beginning that was defined. The Pope welcomed the news. The atheists worried it gave to much of a reason to accept Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. That was not unfounded, but it is not a good reason to deny any scientific discovery either. Even Einstein had to wait for Hubble to clench it, before he could openly admit he put in a fudge factor to deny the Big Bang. He died a deist, not an atheist.
Now as to my leaning, much of my family is Catholic, I am not. I believe God can be known & that anything short of deism requires you disregard our modern scientific understanding of what is. I personally find to much evidence goes beyond that to deny Christ. At base, Christian thought is unlike other religious thinking.
Simply put, in the world & most religions, you are weighed & if found lacking, lose. This fear is what drives your achievement. It is the same at a job. In Christianity, it is the opposite. Jesus saves you, & you achieve because of the gift of salvation you have. It is motivation by Love, not fear. It does require you accept that Love. Not from men, but God. The good news is still good news, because it did not come from men.

Indeed Ross lied because The Quran says " The heavens, We have built them with power. And verily, We are expanding it" (51:47). The Quran is full of scientific miracles (I will mention some among dozens) that are not found in the bible not only that but filter out the falsifications added to the bible : for exemple the bible mentions multiple times that earth has"four corners" refering to a flat earth concept, a term never found in the Quran, plus the famous middle ages salafi scholar (lived hundreds of years ago) Ibn hazm reported the consensus among Islamic scholars that The Quran describes earth as a ball like object (with a flat surface). Now tell if this does not refer to the big bang..: Quran 21 30 "[And have not the ones who disbelieved seen that the heavens and the earth were an integrated (mass), then We unseamed them, and of water We have made every living thing? Would they then not believe?] " also in The Quran in chapter The Smoke: "Thereafter, He leveled Himself to the heaven (while) it was smoke, then said to it and to the earth, “Come up (you two) willingly or unwillingly!” They (both) said, “We come up willingly.” So He decreed them as seven heavens in two days, and He revealed in every heaven its Command. And We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps, and (set Angels) preserving them. That is the determining of the Ever-Mighty, the Ever-Knowing.] " On the 8th of November, 1989, NASA launched its Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite in an orbit that is 600 km away from Earth and the effect of clouds and pollutants in the lower layers of the Earth’s atmosphere. Ten light years away from Earth, COBE sent millions of photos and information about the remnants of the smoke that resulted from the Big Bang. It was a phase of a dark smoke (!!!) that had prevailed in the universe before the heavens and the Earth were created.
Although we believe that these events are far from being known to us, and will remain theories as Almighty Allah says:
[In no way did I make them to witness the creation of the heavens and the Earth, neither the creation of themselves; and in no way would I take to Me the misleaders as supporters.] (Al-Kahf 18:51)
Time relativity Quran " The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day, the measure of which is fifty thousand years." An other exemple" They challenge you ˹O Prophet˺ to hasten the torment. And Allah will never fail in His promise. But a day with your Lord is indeed like a thousand years by your counting."
The Quran corrects the bible's falsifications like these ones " bible 78 65 " Then the Lord rose up as though waking from sleep, like a warrior aroused from a drunken stupor." Or like Ross saying that bible said God took a rest from creating the World in the Quran we read " Indeed, We created the heavens and the earth and everything in between in six Days,1 and We were not ˹even˺ touched with fatigue." Exalted is Allah from all the imperfections these falsifications attributed to Him, an other bible exemple is saying God created the rainbow to remind Him as if He forget or that He was outwrestlted by Jacob peace be upon Him Exalted is Allah from all the imperfections these falsifications attributed to Him. The Quran is not a copy of the bible it's the words of The All Mighty who sent all the prophets like Noah Jacob Moses Joseph Jesus Christ Muhammad peace be upon Them All and speaking about Joseph the Quran says that the ruler at that time was a king unlike the Time of Moses while the bible claims it was a pharoe ..well know after the discovery of rosetta stone we Know that indeed The Quran is The correct One !...again.

Yom followed by a numeral is always an ordinary day. Ch 2 simply adds details to ch.1. I don,t see a long time between Adam and Eve’s creation. The cycle of sevens in the Bible begins in those 7 days of Genesis. When the 10 commandments were given we are told why, because in 6 days God created …… and again in Ex. 31:17 “for in 6 days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the 7th day He rested and was rested. The cycles of 7 continue in Lev.23 ; 25 etc.. The 1st and 7th days are important.
Is Genesis History by Del Tacket is worth. Watching. There are also very well qualified Paleontologists and Geologists have good reasons to believe in a 6 day creation around 6000 yrs. ago. I really appreciate Dr. Hugh Ross but not on this subject.

Time period of unspecified length. (long time span ).
We use the word day the same today: In my grandfather’s day cars did not go very fast.
Deuteronomy 33:15 and Habakkuk 3:6 "ancient mountains".
Gen. 2:4 “in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens”
The events of day 6 can not have happened in 24 hours.
Have you entered into the 7th as Hebrews 4:9-10 asks you to?
Creationism does not equal young Earth. There are many Old Earth creationists.

@ruben metusatius I had a little trouble understanding your comment. Whilst good, I assume English isn't your native langue so i'll do my best to answer what I believe your points were. :)
My point is, if the bible contains such verses which lead him to belief, it must also be noted that it contains verses that are in direct conflict with our scientific understanding of nature.
For example, Genesis has plants/vegetation, day and night, and modern atmosphere prior to the Sun. Plants require photosynthesis and fresh water(which requires evaporation and rain). How can these have occurred if there wasn't yet a Sun?
Hence, the order of events in Genesis 1 are incompatible with our scientific understanding of nature.
Whatever that light was prior to the sun, there is no scientific evidence to the support a sun which formed after plants!
To clarify my point, Hugh Ross is interpreting bible verses in way that implies they were scientific revelation. He is cherry picking and his interpretations are elaborate at best. That which disagrees, will likely be dismissed as allegorical or metaphorical, that which vaguely aligns as historical and scientific. Some of which they could have known and intuited even without a god.

You need to get his book "Navigating genesis where he explains this.
Day -age sequential model takes each "day" as long periods of time because the word "day" is "yom" which allows for it and the context is clearly long periods of time. There are action verbs like "let the land produce", God Separated", "The land produced vegetation"> The yoms have verbs like "let the land produce" "let us make", be fruitful and multiply", "let the water under the sky be gathered" these are processes. John Lennox book has a good quote: "The fiats of God are uttered swiftly, but His mills grind slowly."
7 is a pattern. God is not limited to biological constraints and creation was a one time event so 7 yoms are long periods of time
Agriculture is repeatable and has bio limitations so pattern is years(Ex 23:11/Lev 25:4).
Ex 20:9 -11 “Six yoms you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the
      seventh yom is a Sabbath
Hired workers/servants worked for 6 eyars and were free from debt in the seventh year (Ex 21:2)
For man its repeatable and man has short bio limits so Sabbath is 7 days
Day-age solves the no plants before the sun because it uses all the bible. The sun was created when God made the Heavens and the earth in the beginning. We know from science that early earth was covered with a thick dust layer from the early bombardment so sunlight couldn’t get thru at first . Job 38:9(written before Genesis) "When i made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness". At some point the dust layer started to dissipate and the atmosphere became translucent (like a cloudy day) so you couldn’t see the sun but the rays got thru for the plants. By yom/day 4 the atmosphere was transparent so you could see the sun. After that the creation of animals that needed to see the sun for hibernation, navigation, etc were created.
Gen 1:1 uses bara (strongs 1254)which was to create. Genesis 1:1 tells us, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The Hebrew phrase "the heavens and the earth" (hashamayim we ha' erets) refers to the entire universe, entire creation and everything that can be seen or has physical existence.11 This indicates the heavenly bodies -- the Earth, Sun, Moon, stars and other planets -- were created "in the beginning" prior to the six creation "days."
In verse 16 the Hebrew word for "made" (asah strongs 6213) refers to an action completed in the past. Verse 16 is correctly rendered "God had made" rather than "God made." This indicates God "had made" the Sun, Moon and stars earlier than the fourth "day.
Functional non sequential model also solves the no sun before plants because day 1 line up with 4, day 2 with 5 and day 3 with 6. Its general matter followed by their functions and details.

@@philotheoapolobrendon3653 Thank you for you well though out reply, I appreciate it :)
I don't disagree with everything you said, although here are reason I don't find it convincing.
My objection revolved mostly around the ambiguity of the text, which in turn warrants multiple interpretations. It creates a ripe environment for false pattern recognition and theological stalemate. Using Occam's razor to approach Hugh's interpretation, I find requires far more assumptions and one to ignore the local contemporary beliefs about the world from that era.
      Another point of contention is:
The bible contains multiple creation accounts, from genesis 1, 2 Isiah and Psalms etc, which even include the creator firstly killing a see monster and accounts of a circular, flat earth despite having a Hebrew word for ball. The bible makes a great argument for a flat earth based on the text alone.
The Genesis 2 and Isiah accounts also bear striking similarities to creation myths from different societies, for example the Babylonian epic of Gilgamesh and the Ugarit text.
So what's is more likely, do these stories by various authors compiled into the Torah represent what people then believed occurred during creation (in some case borrowing from oral legends and contemporary creation accounts), or was it revealed by Yahwee in a way that would take thousand of years to decipher and read correctly, only as a result of scientific advancement and a unconventional revisionist (arguable elaborate) interpretation.
As humans we can find patterns in most things, using the bible one can make arguments for end of word dates, hidden bible codes and aliens.
What I would find convincing would be revelations of scientific/mathematical formulas and theorems. But instead we have ambiguous verses which warrant multiple interpretations and verses that run entirely contrary to our scientific understating/evidence of nature.
If God's intention was to convince humans of his existence using the bible to foresee scientific discoveries, which approach do you feel would have been significantly more sensible and effective: the former or later?

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
This passage may reasonably be interpreted as referring to a flat circular earth with the heavens forming a dome above it. Such an interpretation is consistent with other passages of the Bible which refer to a solid firmament (Gen. 1:6-20, 7:11; Ezekiel 1:22-26; Job 9:8, 22:14, etc.). It is also consistent with the cosmology common in neighbouring cultures.

We have studied 20 million stars, and not one can support life as they are ALL too unstable, we are alone. The Sun is the only stable star. Of the 4,100 solar systems studied, not one looks like our solar system, able to support life. Almost all the 4,100 solar systems studied have Hot Jupiters. In normal planetary systems giant planets form beyond snow line and then migrated towards the star. A small percentage of giant planets migrate far from the star. In both types of migrations, any rocky planet like an earth is lost in these planetary migrations. Most stars do not have planets. Many stars are in bi-star systems, thus no earth-type planets. Thus we are alone.
Have not found an another galaxy that can support life. Must have stable arms.

This is a most profound subject. Progressive revelation, a core teaching in the Baha’i Faith, suggests that religions are inherently one and that truth is revealed by God progressively through a series of divine Messengers.
Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, and, in more recent times, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh are a few of these beings. Bahá’u’lláh, the latest of these Messengers, explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God. 💞

I find it funny to see very intelligent people trying to fit modern scientific perspectives into the Genesis creation account that was ALWAYS meant to be taken figuratively. It is a poem written that tells the story of a Creator God, not a literal accounting of the beginning of the universe. That's why light exists before stars, etc. The days of creation have a balance and theme (1 and 4, 2 and 5, 3 and 6 - google a chart of it). Anyone with knowledge in creative writing would instantly identify these characteristics as symbolic imagery meant to tell a story rather than historical narrative.
God is the Creator who speaks and creates life. He does it with no challengers, and nothing can thwart His will. Creation is perfect and our sin has defiled it. That is the story of Creation. The rest of the bible is God's evolving process of re-creation of the universe that culminates in Revelation 22.

Everyone, no matter how smart or knowledgeable or wealthy is afraid of the unknown.
Filling that void with the image of an invisible friend who is looking out for you is the remedy.

It’s dangerous to take the Bible and interpret it to fit your narrative, to think that Genesis is figurative “poetry” is crazy imo. The bible is to be taken at face value except when specifically said otherwise in scripture. The Bible isn’t meant to be some elaborate figurative puzzle, it’s meant to be a clear account of the truth behind the world as we know it.

@@FrigidHeights lol, so it absolutely makes sense that light existed before the sources of light existed? Where did you go to school? You should ask your school fees back, you wasted a lot of time and money.

@@hannesjordaan Yes, and that is consistent with scripture. In fact, God says that in the new creation there will be no sun or moon, but God himself will be the source of light.

@@FrigidHeights and that scripture are consistent with what exactly? Some tall tales told by sheepherders from the bronze age telling tales taken from other religious texts that predate your religion? Get real man and get an education.
