I bought one. Looks great and has a taco seal of approval and a nice discount. Whats not to like. I shoot olympus so it will hold all of my gear with ease. Thanks! :)
Congrats, I’m glad you like it. I’ve never supported or featured a Kickstarter campaign before, even though I’ve been approached by many over the years. After meeting Matt and saw his passion for creating the perfect bag (I know there’s no such thing, but it’s good to try right?) I was happy to feature his bag on my channel. Now it’s time to beat this bag up and see if it can handle it :-)
Great review. I love this bag. So smartly designed! I may have to invest in this one.... And you look happy + well, Taco! Good to see you here :)) (also, side note, obsessed with your camo cap).
Hey Linda, good to hear from you. This is a very well thought out bag for those who are looking for something like this. I still use my shoulder bags for everyday carry, but when I'm working, I need something bigger like this. As for the camo hat, it's by a brand called Mexican Fashion.
For Run & Gun lightweight shooting style that can pack many extra lenses and accessories with reinforce structures and extra front and back paddings this rectangular shape Top Shelf 22L backpack bag in sling configurations is a good design with a premium price tag. I have been using the compact tear shaped Think Tank TurnStyle 10 & 20 for over 10 years now at 250% less cost ($250 vs $100... and even less when I paid $50 over 10 ya ago) that provide the same stable function in a vertical storage format at 366% lighter weight (4.4lb vs 1.2lb). I have a few larger sling convertible backpacks if I really need to carry more for stationary location shootings as that design used to be standard on most backpack sold years ago; however, for fast Run & Gun shooting I prefer the lightest weight possible for all day shooting comfort and carrying extra 3.2lb all day long would not be the best for me. Thank you for the great review.
A nice bag but it has some problems that would stop me from buying it. First is the black interior, I shoot in low light and concert photography, I’d find nothing. Next, the locking mechanism, it takes up room inside the bag. Next the flap, it would annoy me, it’s easy to knock the bag and have the flap drop down. Next, the bag cover, i would either loose it or forget it if it’s not attached. Overall I think it’s design over functionality, I need a bag that has the room and options to suit my photography situation.
For sure, every bag has some awesome feature but then there’s compromises to make it happen. I’ve been collecting camera bags since the early 90s and there has never been the perfect bag for me. To haul around a few bodies and lenses, the Lowepro Protactic BP350 AW II has been my go-to bag the past few years. I’m going to give the Top Shelf a try and see how it works out for me. The locking mechanism is connected to a very sturdy tubular metal frame, so it’s very strong. I’ll report back with a long term review in a few months. Thanks for your thoughts
i can imagine for your use cases, this bag wouldn't be for you. but it's been almost perfect for me so much so that I got 2 bags. my first one has awful zippers but my second one was much better and the bag was more refined (my first was among the first batch).
If the back access is not zipped but just clicked close, does the back flap ever bend enough that it creates an opening for your stuff to fall out? How rigid or flexible is the back flap?
Tell Matt he needs to make the bag a little deeper. I own a Nikon D800 and it doesn’t fit in the bag with a quick release. Obviously unless I store it on it’s back, therefore without a lens and then there goes the speed. I can store it without a quick release then I lose the speed of mounting my camera quickly. 🙁
Ok what's the secret? If I flip it to the front the bag is at the height of my chest and almost opens up into my face. I guess I could give more slack to the strap, but on the back it is comfortable at the length it has. Yet in the promo videos the back flips more on hip height. Is there an adjustment to fix this?
This seems like a nice camera bag, I like the way you set it up. I'm laughing at the black on black, I'm with you on that my Daily bag is the Brevitē Jumper Camera bag, Still got my Think Tank Photo Backstory 13, but the having the top pocket for stuff is more useful for me right now, but yea mine is black inside as well, the Jumper has a side access panel to get to the camera, so I don't have to lay it on the ground. mostlysimilarlayoutbothremind me of the Jansport school backpacks in shape. they only thing I didn't like about the BP250 was the laptop compartment opened from the side and I almost lost my laptop while riding my motorcycle I went left and muy laptop almost slid out of my bag, my fault I didn't zip it shut it all. The Backstory 13 the laptop is inside the front compartment and the Jumper has a top access zipper which is weather sealed, 😁 IF I was using more camera gear and shooting from multiple places like I used to do when I did motorsports photography the Top Shelf would definitely be on my list. 😉 I need to check the dimensions for Airline travel. got to watch some of the airlines that like to charge for over 7 kg. 😆
Thanks for sharing your bags. The BP350 has the laptop sleeve on the back cover and access is from the inside, so you have to unzip the back and then a second zipper to access the laptop sleeve. The design is pretty good.
I’m trying to figure out where that ran out word came from😆 if I edit it the ❤️ will go away I’ll just leave it alone 😉 I meant to say the BP250 and the Jumper remind me of the Jansport school bags in style. I always liked Lowepro products bought a lot of their bags and pouches over the years.
I would reach out directly to BevisGear, I think they even have a Facebook group with users. My guess is that it will all fit except maybe the 100-400, but I haven't played with those lenses so I don't know. I know Matt Bevis has is Canon 5D DSLR, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8 and one prime, and a second body and it all fits. Again, reach out to BEVIS and I'm sure either Matt or someone on his team will get back to you.
it's so strange. I got my Top Gear bag too. But at 3:05, your arrangement is different from my bag. The T-section is much more narrow on mine and there's no way I can fit my Canon EOS R5 with a lens at the T. I can't figure out how to arrange it to be more like yours as the length of the piece that forms part of the T is too long.
@@roberto19801909 I don't have the 100-400. But I fit in my R5 with 85, 35, 16, 24, and 100 lenses. Also fit in the ex600 flash and some other accessories. all in the main compartment, not the pockets.
@@onlysublime not mine. And also he is a list said he will send extra decider only 2 included lol. And on top of it all I have to return it to the state and that will coast $100 and it got shipped from Canada. I don’t get it. What a scammer lesson learned never buy from fellow Canadian and these UA-camrs clowns.
All I see is some biased review. Doesn't even come close to comfort of backpack mode of Lowepro. I use peak design capture clips x2 and just have my most used cameras and lens combos hanging of the straps. Much quicker access and comfort at the same time. I bet if you had to work a whole day or 2 to purchase that bag you wouldn't so enthusiastically rate it so good.

Fantasic, and great video😊 I will be one of the first users in Germany. I ordered this bag today

I need a counter for how many times you’ve said “bag” ;) Great review! Super thorough!
Bag, bag, bag…. Is there an useful synonym? I guess I could have said backpack, but it’s also a sling….

Do you think a fujifilm 150mm to 600mm lens would fit in that bad boy 😭🙏
Looks like an amazing bag, but that black interior is TOUGH!
A great review/Bag but does not accommodate a battery grip equipped DSLR :(

I still have my Lowepro bags from the early 90s… still in great shape. Don’t want to sell because I had some great memories with those :-)
Do you feel that a Nikon z6 and z7, Nikkor Z mount lenses 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, and 100-400 would all fit in the bag?

NO!!! It is just for 24-70, 70-200 and one body only Bag pack is small!

i think your right the final version is smaller i have mine and can only fit r5 with rf 85 and 100-400 the ef version. so tight narrow and limited

its too heavy on one shoulder, lowepro is way better
