Good review! But next time please could you wear something lighter or anything but black when reviewing a black backpack? Or add more lights! I think your room is too dark. I had to pause & rewind multiple times to see if the backpack looked small or large whilst you were wearing it. Thanks!

The bright orange logo presence on the bag is like a walking advertisement to anyone looking to steal camera gear. I've always put black tape over logos that ID my bag as a camera bag in such an obvious way. That, plus the quick access panel on the lower side, really drop the security score on this, in my opinion

  • @boristahmasian9604

Mike, thank you for the great review. You hit all the selling spots of this bag very well. Given that the 350 and the 450 are priced almost the same, I would opt for the 450. Yes the 450 is quite a bit bigger but still manageable. The 350 would be perfect for my camera and a few lenses I have. The 450 would allow me to but my gimbal and a few other video related items in the same bag, hence eliminating the need for a second bag. Inclusion of the molle system is brilliant.

Thanks for the awesome review. We're using this bag now to carry our vlogging setup and it's the perfect size! Also, since you mentioned that the waist strap is hard to insert/remove... it's actually a lot easier if you unzip the main zipper first because the part where the waist strap goes in is more flexible when it's not zipped down. Hope that tip helps you out, have a good one!

My Olympus EM1.2 with 40-150 Pro and extension will fit in sideways. Based on the estimated length of the 150-400 Pro, the EM1.2 will fit from the top. Thanks for a great video.

I have the 350 AW Gen 1 and I love it aside from the bulkiness. I love how it can hold a lot of stuff along with my camera gear, but the overall width kind of kills it for me. Walking through busy sidewalks and standing in packed trains in Japan made me think of people around me. I always had to be on guard to make sure I didn't hit people behind or next to me. I like how they slimmed it down a bit and added additional straps on the top side pockets. I may have to upgrade to this soon.

    • @MikeWat

I had to move the side attachments to the back of the bag when I was in japan to reduce my size and not hit other people while walking xD

Don't worry putting it down in wet conditions, even the version 1 I have is safe. The AW cover inside is basically your shield against moisture. The one feature I love is that they put a handle on the bottom which makes it easy to carry safely and get out of a overhead compartment

I have both AW 250 and AW 450. I'm considering going for 350. 450 is very large, but the problem is that it's also very deep. You can fit the world in there, lol.
I have A7R IV, 135mm, 90mm, 35mm, and Mavic 2 Pro and 250 is too small, 450 is too big.
Love these bags, they are sturdy, you can attach stuff on the back and they are quite comfortable with straps for both around your belly and your chest. Makes heavy bags so much easier to carry around.

Anybody has first hand experience Spirit accepting this as carry on personal item? Spirit's personal item size limits are 18 x 14 x 8. The spec shows it as a tad taller (18.9") than allowed. So it is borderline based on specs hence my question. Also would this fit the 200-600mm Sony mounted on a camera? (with or without lens shade)

It seems to me like a good hack to get your bag to sit up without falling over would be to place a piece of stiff cardboard or plastic inside the bottom to make it flatter. I'm leaning towards purchasing that LowePro Tactic BP 350 AW II bag, but I'm undecided about which size would suit me better (the 350 or the 450). I definitely prefer the new improved version over the old version even if I have to pay a higher price. I like your studio setup and colors. It was easy on my eyes. Great review video. Thanks Mike.

So yet another photo rucksack with a laptop sleeve that can't take a Hydro Pack, or can it? This is essential when I'm skiing, or cycling. Water bottles are usless and not accessible, even when your hiking, or walking, forcing you to stop and remove the rucksack. It's already got the required webbing straps on the shoulder straps to feed the Hydro Pack hose through. Maybe you could give it a go and report back?

I think it will all fit into the LowePro Protactic 350 AW BP II, but wonder if carrying it will be comfortable. What do you think? I'm considering the 350, or the Mindshift 18, or 26L Backlight bags. Carrying comfort is very important to me, as well as ease of accessing my gear. If you have time, please share your thoughts, Sir. Thanks, and God Bless!

Have you tried using it out in heavy rain? I've heard complaints that the cover doesn't completely cover the top and there's a danger of water entering the laptop compartment and bag via the zipper, so please check this out if you want your review to be truly comprehensive.
I also doubt that a 15" would fit in the laptop compartment of the 350AW. You would need to have a thin and light 15" like a macbook or dell XPS to fit into the laptop compartment of the 450AW and that would still be a tight fit, and that bag is bigger than the 350AW. Anyway, Lowepro doesn't claim a 15" will fit there so just take their word for it.

I wonder if the AW II is worth $100 more since I see literally zero difference. Maybe a slight exterior change.
For strictly a camera bag the AWs seems to be the far better choice. For a hybrid travel/camera bag the PD seems to be pretty good but not great. I'd rather have a great camera bag first and foremost personally.

Nice review pf the LowePro Protactic BP 350 AW II. 2 questions please...What's its size in Liters? And, have you any epereince with the similar Tenba Axis V2 20L Backpack? Just wondering which is the higher quality bag? Thanks!

i have the 450, i love everything apart from the quick access as I do travel to unsafe places sometimes, and I always worry people can just open your bag without you noticed, so I just put the rain proof cover over it.

Great point buddy! I think it is possible to put a little TSA lock to prevent people from opening the bag as well :)

Very informative. But could you let me know if this bag can hold professional DSLR with a vertical battery grip and accessible from side and top. Shall be very grateful if you could let me know as I am interested in buying 350 ii version.

I have the bag and came only to see, how you could use all the extra small bags and straps they give you. Also thanks for showing how to take out the strap. Really gets annoying when you only use the bag for a quick trip

Hey man, just a question: can I move the dividers (orange and gray ones) as I want? Maybe you mentioned this but I missed it.
Do you think a 100-400 lens mounted on a DSLR would fit inside moving those dividers? Thank you a lot!
    PS: great review!

I just purchased the AW 450 (the first one not the 450 AW ii) and I can't wait for it to arrive!) I searched all over for the backpack that would meet my needs. I already have a Lowepro 28L for my everyday use and love the quality and comfort. Plus it is set up perfectly for everything I carry. Price was also a factor since I didn't;t want to pay $300-$500 for a backpack but also didn't want to get a cheap oner I would have to replace after a few months. I got mine from eBay NEW for $180.

loving the videos .. fellow creator frm ndia, just found ur channel few dayss ago. i hv just got the nomatic travel bag mckinnon version and .. oh my oh my .. its so heavy. can’t use it as a everyday bag. was looking into a lighter more compact option fr everyday use .. liking the peak design and this lowerpro one .. but the tripod pockets on the sides seems too small, and i wonder if it can fit a peak design travel tripod ?

@Mike which is the difference between LowePro BP350 and Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20l? What you prefer and why? Thank you

    • @MikeWat
      @MikeWat  5 років тому

hey buddy! I am still useing the lowepro 350 - love it because I don't need to carry any other cases (ie. for my headphones). The pads inside are configurable to whatever gear that I need.
However, if you're a student or using it for everyday kind of situation, the PD bag would work better because of the bigger spaces.
