What is a Biotope Aquarium?

For some hobbyists, the biotope style of keeping a fish tank is the most appealing and "natural" way to keep an aquarium. Let's discuss what a Biotope is, and what it isn't.

I’ve had two tanks in my seven years of keeping fish that were balanced. I changed the water once a month just to refresh the tank, even though the water would still test in the safe zone. But that was only two tanks. Most of my tanks needed changing every 2 weeks, except the Axolotl and my humpbacked dragon puffer. They needed it weekly. Every tank is unique.
I’ve never done a biotope type tank, but it’s on my list of things to do. I really want to do a flooding first floor like the cardinal tetras are collected from.

Ha, try having a 100lb husky, malamute, shepherd mix. Hair everywhere! And he's only one of three large dogs the same size as him. Our vacuums get the old 'product testing' on the daily, multiple times a day!😂
