I just moved to Tokyo, and used it as fish grill yesterday for the first time (just kind of winged it - it turned out fine!) and I wondered if people use it for other things - did a google and voila! great video!
you just blew my mind with this video TOAST??? I can finally have toast with my eggs again haha i decided to forgo bread since i found it incredibly annoying with the pan but this changes everything
Good luck!! It may be a bit tricky at first, but keep an eye on it and you’ll get there! I do like the frying pan method though too, I did that for 9 years. 😆
I've been using it to make toast for 6 years without water or preheating, for whole grain I do 2 minute timer the first side, then flip and 1 minute timer the second side. For white bread it's more like 1minute-ish first side then 50 seconds next side. I love the video but it's blowing my mind that he said you need water and preheating just to toast a slice of bread. Like, does anyone preheat their toaster before putting toast in? I'm curious if the benefit is worth the extra 5 minutes of gas so if anyone knows please let me know!
I cannot believe we can make this much with it. Oh my god we bought this stove today and I cannot wait to try all kind of baking/roasting/grilling recipes
If I May ask, where did you buy it? Google is not being helpful here in Mexico. I can look at as many images as I want but if i try to BUY it leads me to traditional open ended grills. If it was in japan may Please get a make and Model so I can look that up?
Yes! It could absolutely work for reheating pizza. I would wrap a slice completely in foil first. Once it is mostly heated through, open the top part to let the cheese crisp up nicely again! 🍕
I'm not sure about where to buy them. I have seen some other commenters mention they are available on Rakuten. It may be worth checking on there! Good luck!
Yes, I’ve heard of some deserts being cooked in it. It’s something I have to experiment with (for the next video), but I would say it would be important to keep the heat low as to not burn the top too quickly.
Hi! Thanks for watching! It was built-in, but I checked and the maker is called “Cleanup”, the model is ZGFNK6R18QSE. In Japan, it seems they can be ordered on Rakuten. I’m not sure the availability outside of Japan, but it may be work searching by the model number. Good luck!
Hi! Thanks for the comment!! I don’t think there’s a way to change it per se, it’s just a matter of how hot the flame is (blue is hotter than orange/yellow). As long as the food is cooking I would say there’s nothing wrong!
I would recommend searching online, I’m not sure but Rakuten US may have something similar. Rinnai is a popular brand for Japanese stoves. One thing to consider though is that the grill part would be connected with the burners as one tabletop unit.
Hi! Thanks for the question! Keema curry (aka dry curry in Japan) is a curry made from ground meat. I believe I used ground pork in mine, but you could use any meat or vegetarian substitute you like! If you’re interested in giving it a try I have a video for it here. 😊 ua-cam.com/video/qSz8bJAkF_g/v-deo.html
Kinda! The last one is baked curry on rice. Lasagna might take a while, but perhaps not impossible! Heating up leftover lasagna would work pretty well I imagine!
Thanks for stopping by! Have you ever used a fish grill before? What would you grill with one?
I am having trouble with this stove, how do I work on changing the Yellow flame to a blue one
We're online can I order for this, I'm in Uganda 🇺🇬 East africa
I’m in Tokyo for 6+ years & haven’t used the grill yet. I was airfrying all these stuffs, Let me grill chicken this weekend 🎉
I needed this video!!!! No idea it needed water. Thank you! 😋
Glad it could help!! Thanks for watching! 😊

Thanks for watching!! Glad it could be helpful! I never really used one much until last year, it’s fun to experiment and see what works. 😃

About to use my grill for the first time for some veg... My stove has no temperature settings on the grill though, that kind of scares me a bit.
Awesome. I’m getting one out in my Motorhome. ❤
I was thinking this fish grill would be great for van life/in a motor home. How did you like it? Did it work out?
I just moved into an apartment in Japan and needed this video! Also, would the grill work for reheating pizza?
Yes! It could absolutely work for reheating pizza. I would wrap a slice completely in foil first. Once it is mostly heated through, open the top part to let the cheese crisp up nicely again! 🍕
Thank you for this video! You saved me!! 😀
Thanks for watching!! Have fun with the fish grill!
What do you do with the oily water in the bottom of the pan?
I've been all over the internet trying to find the answer to this same question, but no luck so far!?!
The whole tray pops out and can be cleaned in the sink. I will have to include this in my next fish grill video!

Can we bake cake on japanese stove?
Why my stove grill stop automatically after one minut despite giving a time more than 15 mints
Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!! 😊
One question. Did you try to bake a small cake?
Not yet, but let me see how it goes! I think I might attempt something flatter like a brownie.
Where in the US can I buy this stove? I can’t find them anywhere.
I'm not sure about where to buy them. I have seen some other commenters mention they are available on Rakuten. It may be worth checking on there! Good luck!
Do you think a small tart crust can cook in there?
Yes, I’ve heard of some deserts being cooked in it. It’s something I have to experiment with (for the next video), but I would say it would be important to keep the heat low as to not burn the top too quickly.

@@HomeCookedAbroad thank you so much for the kind reply, the only problem i have is that the yellow flame leaves too much black soot on the pan.
Hello Brenda@@AtubreArtist

What brand is it?
Is there any possibility to make puff pastries as well 🥹
what are you doing in japan ?
Would love to see if you have even more ways you thought of using this grill now
Thank you!! I have a sequel in the works with five more ways! Stay tuned!😆
@@HomeCookedAbroad yessss need this for survival. I was thinking if baking small batch of cookies or brownies is possible
I haven’t tried sweets, but that’s actually a really good idea! If I can make it work in the video I’ll give you a shoutout!!
I need a Japanese stove!!
They are super convenient!! 😊

Where do you buy this type of oven In the usa?

@@HomeCookedAbroad Finally found out you can just go to Amazon Japan and they sell the Rinnai ones there. less than 300 usd shipped.

Can biscuits be baked on this? 😋
That’s an interesting question! I haven’t tried sweets, but have gotten similar questions so I’ll have to test and report back in the next video!!
I tried baking a cake and it was a failure
Nooooo my dad changed the stove in the house to a jp model induction stove. I can no longer bake bread 😢😢😢
As a baker I recommend buying a counter top bread baking machine, I love them!
How to clean????
The whole thing pops out and separates, so it’s easy to clean the tray and grill part with soap and water in the sink.
Wait a second.. The last one.. You can make Lasagne?!
Kinda! The last one is baked curry on rice. Lasagna might take a while, but perhaps not impossible! Heating up leftover lasagna would work pretty well I imagine!
@@HomeCookedAbroad I might try it soon and let you know if it's working ;)
Sounds good!! Hope it works out!
@@HomeCookedAbroad it worked. Was really good. But I'm just a little concerned the aluminum foil can touch the flame during the baking process ;)
PS: my model needs no water and even it looks like it's bad to put in water (according to the manual). So people better read their manual before
Oh God its a fish grill. I used to think its an oven wasted so many tries in baking
Yeah.. my first experience with it at a friend’s house was burning two batches of croutons in a row. 😆
way too much work
