So I posted a video recently of lots of cavalry I had been painting and commented how I was less unhappy painting horses than in the past. A couple of people wanted to know how I do it so you asked for it and here it is!

Very nicely done mate,i paint my horses with contrast aswell
Thank you 👍
For a long time I had ACW armies with no cavalry before I took the horse plunge. Finally worked out a method, but still not happy about it! Very useful video.
well its simple but works for me so give it a go Martin
Good tutorial Dom, contrast has certainly made it easier for these applications for those of us who don’t like painting horses 😂😂👍
cheers mate - yes I know other approaches have fabulous results, but for those of us who want to get it done easily but effectively, it works
Thanks for this, might have to get some contrast paints now.
sorry about that ;)
Great stuff, thank you Dom.
you are most welcome - I hope its useful to you and others
Nice tutorial Dom! Thanks for sharing it
Glad you liked it Vic!
I over painted with Gore Grunta some horses that i painted brown and wasnt happy with. It gave an amazing depth of colour to what were horrible
yeah its a nice over wash on horses, works really well
Thankfully I don't have to worry to much when painting 6mm horses en masse, but when I next do some 28mm D&D minis, I'll put this to use.
The beauty of smaller scales!
I just started using these. Very easy. Did all my ECW, now I can face the 30+ French Napoleonic I had hidden away.
yeah suddenly the whole cavalry things isnt so daunting. I have a Mongol army I have always wanted to do, and now I am planning it
As with your Hungarians, awesome results. Cheers my friend and brake the 700, :-)
cheers mate - I really thought Contrast was a con, but the more I use them the more they become a large part of my painting arsenal. Creeping up there to 700! Exciting!
Interesting video, a nice simple guide. To be honest my issue with horses is barded horses. Getting to the flesh under cloth barding is a pain.
just slap on the contrast!
Nice video, haven't used contrast yet. May give them a call for horses cheers
it's worth it if you dislike painting horses as much as I did!
Great for the 3/0 rule Dom.
cheers Leslie
Good afternoon Dom how many of these contrast paints did you get and were they specifically for the horses?
Hi Peter, I started getting them for the horses and therefore focused on the darker/brown colours. But as I used them elsewhere I picked up a couple more colours and use them on clothing etc. When I order things I often just add a pot or two to my order. Plus when the shops are open, you can pick up Contrast paints in the GW stories
@@BootsontheTable I need to go online, if I go into the store I will end up buying all sorts of accessories....including a contrast paint set. I can see the face that will greet me at home now.
What sort of camera do you use as your figures look really good?
Thanks. I use a Canon SX730 HS as a video - although I have just upgraded so that might change
Not sure how else to contact you, do doing it here. I am running spotlights of channels in update videos. If you are willing, it would be good to feature yours. How should I get in touch? Or you can get hold of me via our Facebook page.
gamerdom13@gmail.com is the channel email - great to talk about this, Dom
Great vid! Thanks for subscribing to my channel!
Thanks!
No such thing as cheating, just getting to know your tools and materials.
That's true Leslie
