Cool ride. I'm from Louisville and rode pretty much all the same routes. If you go well east out 64 to Middletown and pick up the Parklands, there is a 20ish mile part of the Louisville Loop which is much nicer and easier to ride. Also on the north west side, where you damaged your frame, that part of the loop was 'shut down' for some reason, used to be the nicest part of the downtown ride. There's another part south of Shawnee park which goes farther down the west side as well, along a viaduct for about 10 miles. If they would connect all these parts, it would make a wonderful loop. But...who knows if that'll ever happen.

Thanks for this. I didn't even know about the trail on the Indiana side of the river. Will be sure to ride that soon.

@@KentuckyCycling Thank you so much again for the ride tip. We did this ride today it was amazing. We took a few different twists and turns but basically followed your overall plan and I really enjoyed the ride and different scenery. .

As Hoosiers, We spend most of our time on the Ohio River Greenway (something about Kentukianians and crossing bridges) While we occasionally venture across the Big 4. as the video showed, we never venture past the Belle of Louisville to the west. It is a shame as there looks like a LOT of potential on the West side, it is just not good for riding, and not well kept.
Also in Jeff, we typically take riverside drive. Good Idea going along Market street.

It's funny to see another one's perspective of the greenway we ride routinely. I see that the new section is open and you rode on a another short piece I didn't even know existed. We will have to explore. Per your map, you were brave to ride out in some areas.

It had been years since I rode on the Louisville side, before the Jeffersonville ramp was finished on the Big Four Bridge. The Indiana trails are so nice and new. Do you have a favorite section?

We enjoy riding the length of the greenway on the Indiana side and then near Big 4 area we continue east on E. Market St which turns into Utica Pike and ride that to Utica and then over the new bridge. Its nice that it all runs along the river.

Thank you for this! I’m taking my son to the megacavern this weekend and I was looking for other places to take him riding.

Great video! Reminds me of rides I used to do when I used to work in downtown Louisville!

Indy next! I rode the B&O, Monon, and all the others! I was debating on doing a video about it. There is very limited info out there about the 70+ miles of riding in Indy!

Great suggestion. I'll be sure to check out the trails that you mention. And I'd love to see your video, if you decide to make one!

@@KentuckyCycling Im waiting to get the bike tuned up this week. Pulled it out of storage about 3 months ago. I usually hike a lot but the tics were incredibly bad this year. I am also usually out of town alot during this time as a race car mechanic, but you know...
I live in Jeffersonville but also have an apt in Indy. Flexibility and the ability to hike and bike ANYWHERE in between!

Quite an obvious difference in the trail quality between Louisville side and Indiana.

I agree. But, it's a yes, but. The trails on the Indiana side of the river are new whereas the trails on Louisville side of the river are much older. The trails on the Indiana side are very nice now, but to make a fair comparison, we'd have to fast forward and see what they look like in 10-15 years from now or after the river has flooded. It's apples to oranges to some degree. And one could argue that those trails wouldn't exist if not for the partnership with Louisville and the Big Four Bridge restoration, with was started in Louisville. Louisville also has some very nice new trails out in the Parklands (see ua-cam.com/video/ZGQeyzXRcXM/v-deo.html) and many more miles of trail overall. Personally, I'm grateful for all the trails and hope that the trails on the Indiana side of the river are well maintained to preserve their beauty for many years to come, even after challenges like flooding come.

do you know a place good to ride in Ironton Ohio?

I"m sorry to say that I don't as I have never ridden in that area. I know there is a cycling club Ashland that has a facebook group so you might reach out to them and ask to see if any of them have suggestions. facebook.com/groups/acecycling/

This trail looks graffiti free, is that the power of the camera or is it really this well maintained?

    • @KentuckyCycling
      @KentuckyCycling  3 роки тому

There was a little here and there. The Waterfront Park area is well maintained on the Lousiville side, but less so as you move west on the trail. The Indiana side is much newer and in all around great shape.
