Also of note is that there is a trail side campground in Karnak that is owned by the city. It is called the Brothers Campground after the Brothers lumber company which was once served by the RR. Great Video as always!
That looked like a great time. I’m gonna have to do an overnight on the Tunnel Hill Trail. Glad you got to try out a Hipcamp. It’s hard for me stay in campgrounds after getting tranquil private property to ourselves.
Hope you Gents had a Great trip back. I met you at Mimmos' in Elddorado Saturday evening. Thanks for visiting us...I have posted this to facebook...for my friends to view...Chris..
Another Well done video Nathan, I have ridden the inside of this trail several times over many years, but never to any endpoint. This video encouraged me to start/see the endpoints - and the Spring would be the most preferred time. For those not familiar with the Trail, the most scenic area (majority of this video footage) is in the Central Section (Gorge Area of Forrest) between New Burnside and Bloomfield. Most Cyclist do out and backs going through the Tunnel and crossing Tressel Bridges. This past weekend we started at far end of Eldorado and out/back 26/52mi just short of the Tunnel (darn). Probably will never repeat that, but enjoyed it just the same. People should be aware that Cell Service is sketchy and there just isn't much to see/do except the Trail itself and you should ride/pack your gear accordingly. Hopefully before the end of the month we will do out/back from Vienna to see the other End!! Great Video!!
I travelled to Paducah many years ago on business and all I remember is tobacco...lots of tobacco... but a really beautiful area nonetheless. Thanks for sharing another great trip! And love your music choices!
I'd say it's more corn and soybean these days, with a little tobacco thrown in here and there. But, yes, it's still very beautiful in it's own right. If you go to Paducah proper, be sure to visit downtown and the waterfront. With the confluence of both the Tennessee and Ohio Rivers, the river is impressive. And they've got a nice floodwall with murals painted with a lot of history, and even a Greenway.
@@KentuckyCycling awesome! Thank you so much for your reply. Did you call the wetland center before your trip or just go inside the center and ask when you got there? Really appreciate the feedback! Also, I love your channel- keep making your fantastic videos! Cheers😎🙌🏼
They did. We checked with them, in advance, to make sure it was OK, and recommend that others do the same. They actually lock their lot when they are closed so you'll want to pay attention to their hours and time your return so that you arrive when they are open and don't get locked in.
You're welcome to follow me on Strava for that sort of thing, if you'd like. I'm not sure that would be particularly useful to most folks. www.strava.com/athletes/2862325
What exactly is a "hipcamp"? I don't believe that I have ever heard that term used before and I have been camping all of my life. Also see that you are still sporting those Molokos. Long term review coming soon? I really like the looks of them and have added them to the list of equipment for an upcoming gravel build that I am contemplating.
Hipcamp is basically the.Airbnb of the camping world. It's a service that allows private landowners to book camping on their property. See www.hipcamp.com/en-US. Re the Molokos, I'm digging them. I don't know that I'll do a long-term review as I'm not sure I would have anything new to offer.
I have a GoPro Hero 8 and an iPhone 12 Pro. Pics are on my phone as is some video. Moving footage is on the GoPro. I wear a chest mount for the GoPro, but take it off a lot to get different angles.
@@lawrence1md Chest mount is still one of the better options for that generation of GoPro. But, the image stabilization improvements are a very compelling reason to consider an upgrade.
Bear, Bumblebee, and Spoon are on the way!
Thanks for such a detailed visualization of the trail. It’s helping our group decide about doing this trail.

Man that is the flattest happiest rail to trail I have seen in a while.
It’s actually no where near the flattest we’ve ridden, but very well engineered so the climbs are long and gradual.
You make me want to move to Ky so I can explore trails like this with a good group!
Thanks for the kudos. And, just to clarify, this trail is actually in Illinois.
Nice Nathan. Using this as recon for a potential '23 visit.
It’s a good one. Keep me posted on your plans as I would be happy to ride it again, if my schedule permits.
Great movie again Nathan, ........................Barkhausen: sure it isn´t Germany 🙂
Thanks! And there's obviously some German influence in the area. LOL
Think I saw you guys Sunday morning past Harrisbur!
Great video! I don't live too far from this trail. It was this trail that got me into cycling. Love to see other folks enjoying it! Subscribed!

Great trail and great Hipcamp.
Riding this trail this weekend. Probably not all the way end to end. Great video
Great video, thanks. Missing the woods of back east.
that looks like a lovely trail. One day I plan to ride across the country and learn about the people in each community.
Sounds like an awesome goal!

Excellent video, thanks for sharing!🙌🏼Were you able to park your car overnight at the wetlands center? Thanks in advance! Cheers!😎🙏🏼
We were able to park there, yes. We cleared it with them first and made sure we returned during the hours they are open as they lock the lot at night.

Can you camp along the trail?
Only at established campgrounds, of which there aren't many.
I was unaware of this trail. Good time. Looks like the next trip. Thanks for info.

Did you park your car at the trailhead?
We parked at the Wetlands Center. See previous comments for more details.
