I've literally came out of music store to check the difference amd this video helped me to make up my mind! Going for clear ones (event though I came for coated just for the sake of change). Thank You so much buddy! 🤜💥🤛
Nice video man. I can definitely tell the difference, even with my eyes closed. I don't have a preference but I do know that I prefer one over the other depending on the circumstances. I love this man. Very cool!
Hey Kelly Thanks so much for showing the interest mate. I’ve always had clear but all of a sudden I’ve got the urge to stick with coated just for a change lol. There’s a difference but I just don’t know which I prefer or why! 😊👍🏻🥁
Cool video, my friend, the difference is great to hear when you play the drums it sounds very clear both sounds amazing. Awesome comparisons and always amazing drumming too🥁✨😎👍
Excellent video! These toms sound very good! The snare drum sounds very good. I like coated and clear drumheads. For classic jazz, classic rock, classic heavy metal and other classic styles, I use coated drumheads, but if I’m playing very fast metal music, clear drumheads on toms might be more suitable, but a coated drumhead on the snare drum will be perfect because I might be using drumsticks, brushes or rods
Excellent video and the approach works well, with simply hitting each head for one or only a few beats. Wearing a decent set of headphones you can really hear the difference and to my ears the Evans (Coated) G2 comes out on top. It has a bigger sound and you can clearly hear the tonal difference of each head. A sound level would be cool to see the comparison in decibels between similar sized heads. Here too the G2 would come out on top. Thanks for taking the time to do this comparison. Well thought out and executed.
Hey Brian thanks so much for taking the time and giving such constructive positive feedback I really appreciate it. I was always a clear head guy as I felt they were a little punchier however since doing this video I still have the coated on lol 😊 a warmer more tonal sound. Thanks again Brian, stay in touch mate 🙏👍🏻
Hey Lu Thanks so much for watching and for your great comment I really appreciate it thank you. Stay in touch on my channel and thanks for the support 🙏🥁👍🏻😊
Great video Mark. I definitely think there’s a difference but I can’t decide which I prefer! Lol the clears have a little more attack and I felt the Evans felt slightly warmer. Once in the mix it’s a very subtle difference! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻🥁
Hanks for this awesome review my Big Brother Mark!! As we notice!! The coated skin has more solid sound than a clear skin!! Love and respect Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Great video man! The difference is really great to hear but I believe I couldn't say what kind of drumhead you use if I just listen without watching! Cool to know that!🤘
I guess it depends on what you are playing 🤔 but the clear sound deeper than the coated 💯 both sound Incredible 💯 your kit is set up 👌 Mark 🥁 Brilliant Video and always Awesome Drumming 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🤩 🙌
Thanks so much Jay. I’ve always played Clear for the punchy sound but I have a little twinkle in my eye for coated after the last couple of days. I can see you with a Gretsch Broadcaster jazz/fusion kit with coated heads 😛
I just started playing the drums. I'm a ways away from the neighbors but I worry they can hear me making terrible drum beats lol. Is a coated head quieter?
Hey Robby Sadly no, volume wise they are the same. If you’re worried about noise I’ve done a video on my soundproofing if that helps. You can also buy rubber tips that go over the wood tip of your stick. I found this reduces sound by around 20% which can make a difference. Stay in touch my friend 😊👍🏻🥁
@drumclub7303 Yes, sir! Haha, i understand that. I have a new budget drum set coming and eventually will probably replace the heads. So far, im drawn and stuck between the Evens g2 coated and the remo clear pinstripes. Have no idea what i will do. Guess i have plenty of time to decide, though so thats good lol
@@briand563 I tend to swap once a year or so. But this is more out of just fancying a change as opposed to thinking one sounds better than the other. I think if you play a Jazz/funk/soul the coateds give off a slightly warmer, richer tone. If you play more Pop,rock, Metal then pinstripes will sound better as they have more punch and attack which cuts through heavy guitars and bass etc
Hey Lior, great choice my friend, I tend to love coated for 6 months then have an urge to switch back to clears lol thanks for watching, stay in touch, Mark 🥁😊👍🏻
Really good video showing the difference, clear toms have a much more airy and bassy sound while coated have a more snappy and bright sound
Hey elnidax thanks for checking out the video and giving some positive feedback I appreciate it mate. Stay in touch 🥁😊👍🏻

Completely agree. I don’t play too heavy so am finding myself drawn towards the coated. Just enjoy the warm tonal feel to them 😊👍🏻
Cool video, my friend. I think they both sound great 🤗🥁👍

Yes it’s very subtle isn’t it. Makes me think for the amateur drummer it’s really not worth getting hung up about it 😊👍🏻
Great share and explanation 👋🏻👍🏻🥁
Thanks for watching SFW I appreciate the support 🙏👍🏻🥁
Nice! Thank you!
Hey Goodleo great to hear from you thanks for watching
I can’t find any remo emperor clears the only ones I’m seeing are the vintage are those the ones you are using?
Hi Bryson
Thanks for watching mate. No these are emperor clear. I think I got them from Gear4Music.com if that helps.
Thanks mate 👍🏻

Clear has more attack sound and coated sounds more rounded...
Hey mate. Totally agree. Still can’t decide which I prefer though. Thanks for watching 🙏👍🏻😊🥁
The evens sound the best to me

@@briand563stay in touch and let me know how you get on 🥁👍🏻😊
coated sounds 100% better!
My favorite are the Coated Emperor.

Clear all the way!
I think I agree, thanks so much for checking it out Jables 🥁👍🏻
What should I buy if my music genre is more like Metallica?
Hey Baste, I would use clear heads. They have more attack and more punch to them 🥁👍🏻
It s Very conpressed, but I hear some diference about attack, I heard more attack on clear drum heads
Thanks for checking it out mate 🥁👍🏻
