Snare drum Head Comparison

When you love your Snare drum it can be difficult finding the right head to get the sound you're looking for.
Here is a comparison between the Remo Coated Pinstripe, Remo coated Ambassador and the Evans HD Dry.
The Snare in the video is a Yamaha Recording Custom Birch 14x5.5

I’m surprised how much I like the HD Dry!! To my ear I preferred the Ambassador due to being a good mix of controlled resonance but to record the HD certainly has some crack!!

Hey MF thanks for watching mate. I was also pleasantly surprised by the HD Dry. To the ear it sounded a little flat but when recorded it had a lovely crack to it!. Stay in touch 👍👍🥁🥁

Coated ambassador for me. Just the right amount of resonance. The HD Dry does sound great but maybe just a little too dry!

Great comparison Mark! For me the coated ambassador gets first choice. (followed by coated pinstripe, Evans last) Just my 2 cents! Thanks for sharing.

I’m no expert as this is the only Evans snare head I have. It sounds good but it may just be a little too dry! 😊👍🏻🥁

I like ambassadors clear on the bottom,,,l and EC2 clear on top,,,,,,, great snare-drum,,,, I just love ambassador on top on my snare
