  • Hello everyone, welcome back to the 88.5 Suzuki Samurai Build Series! In this series we are fitting 37in tires on my Suzuki Samurai 4x4 by designing a rear 4 link and front 3 link suspension.
In this episode we focus on the frame side mounts of my rear 4 link suspension. I use our CNC Plasma Cutter from Langmuir Systems (Crossfire Pro CNC Plasma) to cut 1/4in steel mounts. I will show you my 3D model I designed in Solidworks, we will export these as a DXF and use Sheetcam TNG for the toolpath G-Code. Finally, Firecontrol will be used to connect and cut with our CNC Plasma table.
After these links are cut, I unbox our new Lincoln MIG 180 Welder and put it to use for the first time. When assembling the link mounts we discuss the tab and slot design and how it make assembly easier.
We then take this prototype mount and test fit it on the samurai with a piece of DOM Tubing for our link and a 7/8 Heim joint as our Rod End.

Nice job. I'm getting ready to do a 4 link in the back of a CJ3B. Same wheelbase as a samurai with the offset transfer case so trying to get some ideas

Thank you! Happy to hear some of this build might help you. Sounds like a fun build you are doing! Are you stretching the wheelbase at all?
