Fantastic tutorial; when I was learning golf (I guess you never stop learning), I took tons of lessons, and while they were mostly enormously helpful, they also made the game more complicated for me - I took tons of notes and typically would overthink everything when on the course, which actually hindered my progress and definitely took away much of the fun. It is a game, after all and I think too many golfers lose sight of that. Paige's approach is awesome as she is outstanding at clarifying what works and what doesn't, all while simplifying everything, which is the mark of great teaching. Excellent job, and I will check out her other videos. Thanks!
Paige, I’ve taken your advice and really focused on my short game. I practice with my wedges and putter a lot more now. Although I’m not hitting my driver as well, my score has really dropped! Thanks again for all your tutorials 😊
Another great video Paige! Based on the last set up in this video, lots of green, I sometimes use a very upright 6I - toe down. Decades ago, Nick Price taught this in a Golf Digest article. It’s not always the right shot, but having shot options is always key.
Living in the north country, it is so nice to see golf being played where it’s warm. I profit from your advice, and I am compelled to watch to the end!
I have to say Im stuck at home with Covid so that's the first time I watched one of your videos. The 7.4 ft data really surprised me. Of course everyone talks about your beauty but the content here was great and really detailed. Great lesson.

Curious about other instances when one club type is better than another that may surprise someone? Keep up the great content, Paige!

My short game has always been the strongest part of my game (as a 6 handicapper, my pro friends used to kid me that I had a great short game but the bad news is that it was off the tee 😂). Now that I'm well into my 60's, I really focus on getting it up and down from around the green over 90% of the time and I've almost always used my wedges. I've always heard pros (esp on broadcasts) say to use the putter if you to get it close but use the wedge if you want to get it in. It's interesting that your data shows that the percentages still favor the putter. I guess what the data shows is that using the wedge could allow me to chip it in a small percentage of the time (which I do) but in the long run by putting it, I would assure myself of getting it up and down more often. I'll try that from now and see what happens....maybe I'll start shooting under par!
Excellent lesson Paige! I heard my swing doctor tell me a long time ago, "My miss, around the green on tight lies, is a lot better with my putter vs. an iron or a wedge." Definitely a good thing to know. Loved the 7 yards stat for scratch players. That does take the pressure off a lot! "Managing expectations"... a great way to describe the game we love.
I have three young daughters that I'm trying to get into golf (oldest is only 5 so a long way to go) but one day I hope they're as good as you and want to play 18 with me. Thanks for the lessons!
Great advice. A -3 handicapper I play told me ages ago “ if you can putt, then putt. Chip as a last resort. If I can’t putt I go to an 8 iron and bump and run using a putting stroke. Work on this part of your game and your hcap WILL come down
Great advise! Thanks for sharing these tips. I typically always use the wedge in the short stuff (collar) and only because there's been a stigma around using the putter.
Using a putter from short grass off the green has been my plan for years. Just this summer I sank a 90 footer from three feet off the green and it was down hill with about a four foot break and it just gently fell in the hole for a birdie. What a feeling that was.

As a Double Red Seal CNC Programmer I just simply wanted to say Thank You! The wheels on my cart would fall off ASAP after you showed up wearing what my ocular cavities are presented. WoW!
I use the wedge 'Chipping Ratios" method (Paul Wilson Video) of determining which club to use just off the green. This simplifies the selection and takes guessing out of the equation.
great reminder of high percentage shots. Like Paige, I use my 54 for just about everything around the green and am very comfortable with it - but using a pitching/gap edge on the long bump & runs is usually the right shot. Well done Paige.
Try your bump and runs with the ball from centre to the back foot Paige. The quicker you want the ball to run out like a putt, then the further back in your stance it goes. Good luck. I use 5 iron to PW for those shots.
Because she is realistic and is humbled by professionals on the regular. I would also assume she knows her value unlike most chics who have to convince you
Famous parents might be something that makes a son or daughter modest. Though, what is plain to see and take note of is Paige’s sincerity. I’m pleased for her and her golf students. She’s a great athlete and teacher.
I've tried that way, but i struggle with super long puts from off the green. I found that putting it firmly with a 7i actually serves me very well. If i were inside 20ft id use a putter, but beyond that, i def struggle
Hi Paige, Awesome Golf Instruction like Always 🙏. Such an Awesome Priviledge listening and viewing your execution. One if a kind. Have a Great Day Paige 🙏🤗🙏
I generally use my 52* to chip with. I’ll use 57* if I have to hit a flop shot. However, I will use a 9i on the last shot that you demonstrated. I see people constantly use their 60* from EVERYWHERE. But, I’m never impressed with their results. lol
Yup, saw Roger Cleveland doing a demo and he told the guy hitting the ball with a sand wedge on a pretty tight lie; he said this is a tough shot, don't try to hit down on it, instead play with the shaft more upright and hit 1/2 inch or so behind the ball. Let the bounce do the work of sliding right under the ball. I think the wedge guru knows what he is talking about. Just like Paige!
Paige, Great video! I started playing on a regular basis about a year ago. My 1st score was 120. Although I recently did my personal best of 87, I routinely am in the 90’s. I figured out to quit using my wedge to chip on the green for exactly what you said of the non predictability. I always use my 8 iron & occasionally use my 9 iron (if I need to get the ball a little higher). This helps me get usually close to the pin. So you confirmed that! Now what you are saying about putting from the fringe, I will have to try as I have not, because I am afraid that once the ball drops down on the green’s surface, that it might not continue on the path that I want. But it looks like that is not the case with what your showing. My other concern is my feel of putting would be jeopardized as the ball has to be slowed down more while rolling on the fringe and therefore I won’t be able to judge my speed of putting as much as an iron. But I am going to give your suggestion a go! Thanks for the data based lesson!! 😊❤😊❤ P.S. I just subscribed & I usually never subscribe on UA-cam.
I know they say putting is the better option, but that pre-supposes you have distance control with the putter. I find it easier to chip as I tend to get closer
Thank you for another great video!! I love these Shot Scope coaching videos and I’m learning a lot! 😊 I also love your head overs and with Christmas coming I wanted to know where you get them from. Thanks again!!
i do agree with using the putter when possible, but i do not agree with the stats at 1:30 ; I'm sure the 0HCP will only use the wedges when putter is not suitable. my guess is that the stat for putter is from fringes with short grass and the stat for the wedge is from the longer rough around the green where putter is not suitable.

Jack always preached chip with the lowest loft to get over what you need to get over. Nothing more. This is a good old school lesson. Thanks.
If a person is playing in wet conditions does it help to use a wedge with more bounce and or a wider sole width?
I use a hybrid then(we are very wet in UK now)
