just compare previous leaders with current old men, one is completely out of mind, can't find his way, too old to do anything. Another one is like "Nobody can make a wall like me! If I was president, I would sit down and talk with china and talk with Taiwan and war will end in 24 hours"

When McNamara/Kissinger/Nixon and any other US decision maker before, I will say, 1975, wanted to do something, they would hide it under four layers of coercion, seven layers of obscurity and twenty five layers of denial. Today you have Senator Lindsey Graham stating on national television: a) "The money we spend in Ukraine is an excellent investment because Russians are dying" and b) "We will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian.".

Any intellect not clouded by a "fantasy of ethnic superiority" would know China's rise to the top was eventual. China and India were the #1 economies In the World for 1800 years of the Gregorian Calender (before Western Colonialism entered China). Nixon was a president that considered American Interests first (not Israel's). Therefore, aiding Taiwan is simply a means to "control" the rise of China...it wouldn't matter if China was Republican and Taiwan was Communist. Remember, China and Taiwan is an "unresolved" Civil War between the Republican Government of Chiang Kai Shek (rightly called "cash my check" in the West) and the CPC (Communist Party of China - Mao Tse Tung). There is no disagreement between either governments regarding the geography of China. That is, Taiwan is a part of China.

His point was after the fall of soviet union, the USA had an opportunity to , like never before, set the country forward with un ending prosperity, security, and influence! He was 95 percent right on everything. Basically, he stated brilliantly we have to be diplomatically proactive and don't drop the ball or else.....Islamic terrorist activity worldwide (9/11), rise of north Korea going nuclear, Iran gaining to much wealth and directing upheaval especially in regards to Israel (10/7/23), China and be careful of its influence over American corporations, involve and help Russia develop sustainable economic system or else a putin authoritarian type will come about because that's all the Russian people have ever known (Ukraine anybody?). Also, strengthen NATO and European economies to preserve western civilization. He was foreseeing mass migration and too much cultural liberalism. Clinton, Bush, and Obama definitely DROPPED THE BALL. Nixon's failed attempt to spy on his opposition pales in comparison to the success of the US govt to spy on ALL the American people now. NSA is just one example.
Lying to the American people about WMD in Iraq... heads should have rolled just for that. What's Watergate compared with that?
Right now the future's market is shorted to hell by the government with horrible consequences for the economy. People... seem fine with it... grumbling a bit about food being a little bit more expensive but not really comprehending how deeply the govt screwed them. These are definitely not the people of 1776 and that's the problem that allows all that corruption.
What happened in 2020 election is way worse than Watergate and people of any political orientation should be outraged. Instead the side who "won" is silent in complicity. I have never agreed with the one China policy - though I certainly understand where Mr. Nixon is coming from (especially with the concerns of driving of the PRC further to a soviet sphere ) But the idealistic hope of a possible common-wealth status for Taiwan (where essentially everything but over all foreign policy is decided by the ROC which would I suppose rename itself to 'Taiwan' just for this example) has proven to be just that - idealistic. Many at the time didn't trust the PRC - and its proven wise. As one need only look at what the Communist government has done to Hong Kong - to see what it would do to the Remnants of the ROC (Taiwan and smaller islands/islets)

Not being a political expert myself, his opinion and comments seem to have lots of UNcommon sense and basic down-to-earth wisdom:
"Maintain a 'presence' (militarily or otherwise) in Taiwan but no so much that Peking (Beijing) is provoked.
Keep great relationships with Peking. First and foremost this is the key to prevent China from invading Taiwan. If China is provoked (due to bad relationships with them) or China becomes too influenced by Russia.....China will likely invade.......and there's nothing we can do about it."

The conflict between Taiwan and Beijing is essentially Chinese civil war and internal affair. My question is: How do the Americans find it morally comfortable to intervene? Shouldn’t it be up to the Chinese people to settle the conflicts among themselves?

Taiwan has decided that it does not want to be controlled by a communist dictatorship. It is settled. America does not intervene. America provides Taiwan with the ability to enforce its decision. If Taiwan decides it wants to become part of communist China, America would not intervene

Both gentlemen provided service to our country. Just recently at 100 years old, Dr. Kissinger visited President Xi. God bless them and God rest their souls.💜🕊️💜
