CHRISTIAN LI, AUSTRALIA, 10
0:00:24 L. van Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 1, Op. 12, No. 1, 1st movement
0:07:24 A. Piazzolla Histoire du Tango, Café 1930
0:14:46 H. Wieniawski Polonaise de Concert in D major, Op. 4
The moment he started playing Wieniawski my jaw literally dropped to the floor
Miyamura?
Anybody noticed how brilliant the tone of that guitar is also? The sound is so strong and yet so pure. Bravo Christian and the guitarist too!!!!!
Incredible musicianship at the age. I can see why there were joint winners that year. He was just as strong as Chloe, with slightly different strengths and "lesser strengths" (instead of weaknesses). I think Christian's inherent musicianship is at a rare level and that's proven to be true in more recent performances, still as a very young man. Chloe had the slight technical edge but not quite the stage presence. Very tight between the two mega talents, both of whom should have incredible careers and be a big part of music going forward.
Better than some of the senior competitors
Yang Wang NO HE *IS* BETTER XD
??? when he started the wieniawski piece I literally said "oh my god" to myself even though I was watching this video alone. Brilliant playing!!
Such sensitive playing for somebody so young. The piano is beautiful too.
This boy gives me goosebumps. How and where does a 10-year-old develop the level of maturity required to exhibit such amazing interpretive skills? Forget his technique, which is nearly flawless, his ability to interpret and deliver the artist's intended feelings to his audience, his ncredible confidence, his command of every piece he plays make him one of the most promising artists the world will ever have the absolute pleasure of watching grow up and become a hugely successful artist. Thank you Chistian!!!
From this video, I gained lots of insight on how to be a better and more musical musician while also receiving a very badly crushed esteem. The ending was full of flare and confidence though; good job! Wonderful interpretations and tone! I know I sound like a music teacher when I'm really only a student (not a prodigy, definitely not), but it can't really be helped because it would put your excellent playing to shame if I didn't. I don't even play violin, and I feel greatly intimidated. Congradulations on winning first place along with Chloe Chua. I honestly can't imagine you doing anything else but violin. If you become an orchestral player when you grow up I'll eat a mushroom; you've got true talent and you'll make an amazing soloist someday! (jk you already are a great soloist). You deserve it, and I'm sure you'll go very far in your musical career. Best of luck and keep spreading the love like you do!
I also want to give a shout-out to the pianist. Wow, she was really able to help Christian shine amongst the rest of the competitiors. She's so expressive too, it's like... I want to be that kind of accompanist when I grow up lol.
Twoset forced me to come here....and I see there are 47 people who wanted to be Ling Ling but have not committed to practice.
I remember tying my first tie...
In all seriousness, he's an amazing talent. A little envious lol.
The page turner guy has no soul lmao
Two set violin ;)
Same
robot lol
He is just so concentrated, that 's all.
Magnifique !
That wieniawski!!!!! Bellisimo!!!!!
Good job, Christian!
It looks like he has met all the requirements for a world class violinist.
All one can hear is the piano??? Thought I had another video playing. He is really special.
He is ling ling
I feel like he needs a better violin to keep up with his amazing playing! Kudos to him tho
It's funny how anyone who puts "TwoSet" or "LingLing" I'm their comment they immediately get top comment
Talk about musicality
is it just me or is it hard to hear him over the piano?
How did he do fingered octaves
fjfjfj XD practice.
One like = one support for the page turner
Who is the pianist in this performance?
MrSimpy10 Nicola Eimer
What are u doin🙄what are u doin? Okay then wtf am I doin 🤔
The way the piano girl smiling at him is nice
Who else came from twoset? Ahaha
Unintentionally publicizing... it's thanks to twoset that I listened, and also, thanks to twoset, I feel really depressed about my own nonexistent skills.
Not if you practice 40 hours a day!
Cinnia W that’s true.
Cinnia W but I don’t have a T-shirt
me!
He has composure, flair, natural command of the instrument and musical maturity. Rare in a person at his age.
A Smith I agree. He plays like Heifetz. To see what I mean, checkout UA-cam videos of Heifetz playing the same pieces. Watch Christian’s extraordinary bow arm and how the bow is glued to the strings, much like Heifetz, Oistrahk, Kogan, and other 20th century Russian master violinists.
Ahh, this is my favorite comment on this page. So well said. I agree! And Christian Li is just fantastic.
Lilian Duval
agreed 👍
Thank you so much Christian, I’m blown away by your amazing playing you play so beautifully and with such great passion and sensitivity too. You also play like someone who has been playing for many many years and I love ❤❤❤❤ that you show how much you love playing and your expressions are amazing and priceless too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
Who are that people, who put dislikes? He's 10 years old! And his playing is already so mature and intelligent! What did you do when you were 10? Ate sand from the sandbox?
Even some 20 years old musicians can't achieve such confidence and understanding of music. He's genius! I have no doubt.
Edward Onischenko Don't worry about the haters in this world!!! Did You enjoy Him is all that matters!
who are you to say who's playing is mature and intelligent?
The other competitors
The bows put dislike i think, they get hurt.
I bet this kid bullied at his school for his eyebrows😆😂😂😂
I am so grateful to Christian for sharing his talent with the world. My life has been enhanced by his presence and musicianship. Bravo!

Is this LingLing's child
bow ventures Didn't you mean Lang Lang?
Merlin Mijdus Ling Ling Huang the violinist
Vicky Low Ah ok. Thanks.
It's an inside Twosetviolin joke
It's a Twosetviolin joke
This kid is out of this world! No doubt he will become a legend!
Become a legend? He is a legend.
True!
Not necessarily. Many prodigies become depressed and traumatized with age. Some develop quite serious mental conditions. This affects their abilities to a great extent. Sad but true.
I am not saying this because I am envious or something, even though I am. It’s just that your words reminded me of a friend of mine who spoke five foreign languages at 10, was able to create her own conlangs around the same age, wrote a few novels and recorded a musical album before graduation from the high school.... only to become e depressed German teacher trying desperately to cope with schizophrenia
Wow how does he make this sound so beautiful? There's something about the way he plays that makes the violin sing! Such a joy to behold!
To be honest, one of my favourite performances of the Wieniawski Polonaise... I wonder how it will sound once he's on a full size violin, a really good one which he deserves! Already, I know I would pay to see this one perform
You can be sure - the angels are going to sing - they already sing a divine melody!
Same! I love his interpretation. Also, pretty sure that IS a full size - and it's as big as his torso...
It's a full size violin actually 😂😂
No, it's a half size, I asked his parents (they have a UA-cam channel)
This violin is already as long as his upper body...
The wieniawski was fantastic
Isaac Yoon everything was
He was Maxim Vengerov’s favourite at this competition. Soooo…..
No matter whether he will be the gold medalist or the last place winner of the final, he is already the old prize winner in my heart and on my mind. His music is so natural and sincere and his playing is well trained and nicely presented without a touch of artificial display of his prodigy virtuosity.
he is really a music giant trapped in a tiny body!
So true though.
fayefayetete a cute music giant btw
And there sat the page turner with inexplicable poker face...
It's totally not about him. It's him who plays the violin that we really care.
@@danhuang3760 please dude. Have a joke
年僅十歲,就會演奏polonaise,怪不得鋼琴伴奏老師賞心悅目的對著你,行家欣賞你。恭喜🎊。
okay, but WHY ARE THERE 14 DISLIKES???
Never mind the haters. They're just looking for some attention.
Jealous is the answer
Stupid PPL. that's all
Meh, people on UA-cam aren't always the brightest.
Their lack of talent makes them see the world not as it is but how they are
Christian Li's teacher Robin Wilson of the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne has produced a masterpiece in this child of ten after only five years of teaching him. I do not think that even Menuhin himself had played as masterly as Christian Li when he was ten.
He wasn't his teacher for his entire violin career. He started with someone else - he just switched two years ago.
We aren't only listening to technique here, but also to beautifully performed MUSIC !!!!!! This kid has great talent.
Yes, indeed he does!
Played the violin for 6 years...I can't play this well lol. This kid is awesome.
Person Guy well I’m going to be even worse then because I’m thirteen and I just started
@@Marille7982 Have you learnt any of my pieces yet?
@@ludwigvanbeethoven1842 yes i’ve learned ode to joy
Love how he looks and sounds.I really wish he will win the first prize!
Yeah, which was an expected surprise.
He won.
Nobody else gonna comment on the piano lady? Gah dang. Even her expressions are amazing
True, that.
when you’re almost twice his age yet he’s better than you could ever be
Like he has played violin for a lifetime ! Such amazing interpretation for someone so young !!
Amazing accompanist too. Jean Claude Van Damme turning the pages...
Thoroughly enjoyed his performance, especially the 3rd piece. Great accompaniment by the pianist and guitarist.

The part we all came for
@@dantecartman1864 same😂😂👌🏻
*self esteem is crushed
Damn 10yo and playing polonaise... Wieniawski would be proud
No ling ling would be proud😂
Absolutely awesome! He is an extraordinary genius, musical mind and body, so gifted!!!! He loves what he is doing besides the huge amount of musical work behind!!!

Awsome! He sure has a talent of playing his violin inside him!😆
Menuhin Competition: please identify the pianist and guitarist, who are professional artists too.
Pianist = Nicola Eimer
This is pure rapture and ecstasy...The piece awakens the music in me...Thanks young 👦 Lee
Musicmaking of the highest order! Amazing in one so young! He should definitely have a great career!
Ling Ling approves
Wonderful Piazzolla
Great performance! Congratulations to the most talented young artist! This is almost unbelievable!
Absolutely brilliant!
Piazzolla suonato benissimo... e lo dico da tanguero
amazing! Really love the cafe 1930
He is very good but the piano is killing him. Perhaps the balance there in the hall was better.
His Polonaise is so legendary. Definitely my favourite recording
Maybe because the piano is WAY to loud! Look at the size of this Steinway compare to the violin??? Little guy WAY to close to the piano. Get that piano behind the curtain or wall or take out its sustain pedal or at the very least close the top!
I agree
I hope he always loves music as much as this 10 year old boy does. I hope this never gets old for him. This is what music sounds like when it is a true blend of the heart and mind. What a mind! And the heart!! Bravo!
Total violin rock star at 10!! Amazing to watch his dexterity
and awesome animated performance with such honesty, flair and gusto. Just wow!!
What a cute, handsome and most of all talented little guy😊 his hard work pays off
Such beautiful sound! I keep coming back to listen to this
Same, I've listened to this like three times today lol
Fabulous pianist too !!!
Christian concert before deservedly winning 🏆 as youngest. 2nd youngest and co-winner Chloe Chua and former youngest Julia Fischer define brilliance 🎉
Christian is great and the guitarist is wonderful!
His interpretation of Piazzolla is brilliant. I always come back here to hear.
You can only fully grasp the magnitude of a prodigy by hearing this kid play.
VERY GOOD EXCELLENT CHRISTIAN
This kid is freakin awesome! Doesn't matter if he doesn't win a competition-he's gonna go on to better realms. So talented and gracious to his elder musicians accompanying him. Already a Master.
OMG he is soooo good and soooo cute !
Verdaderamente un prodigio de Dios,,,
Nossa que espírito elevado! O ser humano pode ser incrível quando quer!
The page turner is me ... lmao
The wienawski is probably so easy for him that his face is just for aesthetics xd
Definitely. I think it's genuine expression, he's not hurting, he's just sending out the emotion.
Awww! HIS TIE!!! :D
It's part of his shirt lol
Nicely played. Who’s the pianist? She’s outstanding - it might be nice to mention her in the credits too.
I feel like wienawski polonaise is more difficult than summer vivaldi. I haven't heard all of summer Vivaldi but I feel like Wienawski is still harder than Vivaldi tho. I might be wrong.
@@ChiefHerzensCoach Wow I didn't know it was a 1/2 size. Even more impressive!
it’s wayyyy more difficult. wieniawski polonaise is eons more difficult
Undoubtedly already a legend..
ブラボー🎶
A powerhouse and a brilliant, focused performance.
And the facial expressions lol
I love the piano girl 😚
piano was a little loud, but the violin was so beautiful
Thanks for a grand performance.
Rare in person ..and rare in talent..
11:20 i cried
He's so cute!
HE IS SO WANDERFUL AND AMAZING that I always cry when I watch him playing
最后一首就真的要哭了啊( •̥́ ˍ •̀ू )
