    i feel the exact same as you, but I went to law school instead. For example I wish I was more involved with my cohort too, as it would have created great future connections / relationships. This video is invaluable in respect of providing a framework for incoming students, such great initiative :)

      its tough! part of me thinks regardless of how much you do - you wouldve wanted to do more

  • @tammy8779

    This is a lovely encouraging video and I would also agree it's great to experience uni to the most! But I want to say, just for anyone who might have been in a similar boat to me, it's okay if your focus is just getting by day-to-day. If it's a case of balancing medical school with your physical health/mental health and taking care of yourself - that's okay. You don't have to achieve more and more - being kind to yourself and getting through whatever trials you have going on for you is an achievement :)

    • @LTRLVRIFY
      @LTRLVRIFY 3 роки тому +2

      Thank youuuuu I needed this💕💕 I thought I knew what I was getting myself into when I started med school but I really didn’t

    • @tammy8779
      @tammy8779 3 роки тому +1

      @@LTRLVRIFY Medical school is intense - no two ways about it. If you still love what you are doing and can't imagine doing anything else then keep fighting for it - reach out for support, talk with others, you won't be the only one feeling this way. Also trust me that you are capable of more than you think - don't let the imposter syndrome thoughts/feelings weigh you down. Getting through medical school on it's own is an incredible victory - don't worry about comparing to what anyone else is doing, focus on you. If in time you come to realise that maybe medical school isn't your passion anymore or what you thought it would be then there is no shame in that - the best thing you can do is be honest with yourself. Wishing you all the best, x

    Mo this is too timely 😭 Ive recently been reflecting on my uni experience and as a dental student, I resonated with what you said about spending a lot of time in your books and I’m kinda sad that if I knew then what I know now, I would’ve been able to study smarter instead of harder and had more free time. I made the most of what I could like being involved in societies, the pandemic has basically taken my elective in South America from me last year and the potential for a lit summer is very slim, money has always been an issue and for some weird reason I feel like the self confidence I spent time nurturing in uni has been knocked down by the pandemic.I studied for 5 years in my home city and for the first time now I have to decide whether to go to another city in the uk for a year and explore research alongside or stay in my comfort zone with friends and family, but fearrrrr 😭😭😭 the potential to leave is so scary, but this may be a second chance to try something new

  • @seldom7288

    I've been watching your content for a while and love the travelling vlog, but as a current medical student, all I ever seem to hear about is how the doctors (especially surgeon-like you) have no free time. However you seem to go on vacation frequently, could you elaborate on how you manage to get away so much.

    I don’t think the intro is a fair thing, my student loan goes straight onto accommodation and money to live. I have no money to go on holiday, if you are lucky to be able to that ,one as disposable income that’s good. But for people who are planning to go to uni, know your situation might not be like his so don’t expect a life style equivalent to his. Everyone’s situation is different, no hate man just saying so people don’t end up disappointed if their uni experience isn’t like yours

    • @ThatMedic

      i guess accommodation fees might have changed since 2012.. but i had like 4-5K left over from my loan and grant after my accommodation was paid
