nice job. couple of mates have these in their patrols and landcruisers, one even has one on a car trailer to drag logs and cars and shit up on it, none have had any issues as yet. The reason you might see winch hooks locked under, if you didnt know, is if you wind it right into the fairlead, you can score the metal in it, and make sharp cuts that can chew your rope out, after all, it is just fishing braid line.
I noticed when you were fitting the cradle you had to bang it in with a hammer, then you could see the sides were at an angle to the bar mounts. You probably moved the bar mounts when you tightened up those 1/2" bolts. Would have made it difficult to refit the bar and with the oversize tyres you set yourself up. I run 30x9.5's on mine, so plenty of clearance at the front, but tight at the back edge when on full lock.
I actually had exactly the same thing happen with the same bulbar on my D22, bounced over a sand dune a little too quickly and the tyres just grabbed both corners of the bar and twisted it. I really thought I was the only one to have ever done this, but maybe its just common with bigger tyres.
KingOne is great too. Apparently these are more reliable than Warn here in New Zealand. Warn here prefer to sell to non serious 4wd owners on main street. They don't support serious people for whatever reason. Superwinch does but very no to well known.
I had it happen with the same bar. Caught on one side as I was on a backroad going 100ks. Went over a hill and when the suspension compressed at the bottom it pulled the left side of the bar into the tyre and flung me onto the wrong side of the road. Didn’t damage the bar just had to stop and tighten the top bolt up as it was loose and the bar was rocking back and forth. Next time I pull the bar off I’ll definitely loctite the bolts. Just glad there wasn’t a road train on the other side of the road at the time.
Hey mate just a quick tip I too run the kings winch on my nav and I run 3 spotties under the centre hoop of my steel bullbar I fitted my control box inside of my bullbar I sprayed it with a rubber sealant to keep it water tight and had it tucked right up in my bull bar I also extended the wires from the plug to reach my grill and mounted it in my grill and ran in cab winch controls with a wireless controller nice clean install
The problem with the king's isn't with the control box it's to do with the motor side of the winch. It allows water in and the motor and the bushes rust causing the winch to seize. Just pulled mine apart and found the seal they use inside the motor is useless. Water also was able to get on via the holes where the terminal come through. The issue can be fixed but you need to pull the motor side apart and seal all the joints (including the holes where the terminals protrude) with a liquid gasket compound.
Bugger! I should have read the directions. I should have rotated the gearbox instead of struggling with the connections. Anyhow. Done now. Can't believe im watching a video of a job i just finished and not the other way around. 😂
Dominator x is a great winch for the price, they’re strong as hell. My only problem with them is the motor housing, if you pull that end cap off you will see how thin the seal is. Mine was cutting out intermittently until it just wouldn’t work so I opened it up and half a bog hole poured out of it. I replaced it with the dominator extreme motor for about $130.. the housing for the extreme is all one piece.. down the track I recommend replacing the motor for the extreme motor 👍
@@anthonyjamescatania no worries man, just call up 4x4 supercentre and they’ll post it out..they said they’re completely compatible but I had to swap that thin earth from the control box to the other earth point on the motor due to some current feed back and my polarity is reversed but apart from that it’s a way more solid unit now
The extreme is improved but still has the water ingress problem. Can be fixed by pulling it apart and using liquid gasket compound on the part where the motor housing joins to the winch body and also you need to remove the 3 terminal lugs and seal them with the compound and reinstall them as water also manages to get in the winch there too.
Great video mate. Keep up the adventures.
Ime 60 bros and like the info ya sharing . Laughin and cryin over the bullbar fail. Keep it up
Great video mate! I think it just comes down to the alignment of the bar.
I have a kings winch, and can’t fault it, love it and tested to its max and can say it’s as good as the 1k jobs.

18:48 it just happened to me early this morning and damaged a bit of a tire and thanks for your video at 19:00.

Yeah I think if you get it on a specific angle it catches
G'day mate
I get the Runva winch
With some setup as you
But with 33 inch tyres
And I got no issues with the setup
Cheers Asha 👍

Geez that could’ve turned out bad real quick.
That’s sucks mate. But time for a custom bar now mate. Great video aswell mate
Nothing wrong with the kings winch mate. had mine for 3 years .. used it 20-30 times. never let me down

That sounds heaps good👌

When you drill bits of steel fall between behind cradle and that rusts and bloats and causes problems later always remove and clean after drilling
Time for a custom bar?

Sat on a remote beach in my old nav that cost me 14k total next to a bloke that spent near 200k on his 79 to share my view🤔

how good is it when your rig starts to come together. I've just done my spotties and light bar. Winch is next and then a turbo upgrade
What turbo did you end up getting? I'm looking into a turbo swap but can't really decide
Shit happens matey! Great vid anyway. 👌
So when your just in & out is your car on because I’ve done it once & it’s killed my battery
Yeah if you’re using it the car should be running
What about airflow to your radiator ?
If I was to do it again I would probably relocate the control box and do in cab controls so there’s more flow
Link to cradle?
www.nissangupatrol.com/product/nissan-d22-navara-winch-cradle-alloy-bullbar/ price has gone up significantly since I bought it years ago though
Um do not stand in front of the winch u could die or b serious injuries
They have cheap winches Harbor freight
