I bought the Lead Guitar Techniques for Creating Solos by Rock House about 6 months ago. I am surprised on how much I have improved! Thank you sooo much for all your help Johny McCarthy, your one of my favorite players! Your lessons really help, thanks for putting the time and effort into these wonderful DVDs!
Hey this is john Mccarthy replying, I know that you usually don't see many heavy Metal bands using Telecasters but this one is hot rodded and has EMGs stacked even under the metal pickup plate in the neck position and it has a KILLER Metal tone! Unexpected but true!
@fenderman130 John 5 plays a telecaster, Jim Root uses a telecaster, Un real how people think theguitar brand is the only factor in creating a sound. If you can play you play anything and make it work. John's guitar is outfitted with EMG's and he uses the correct pedals and amp settings to get what he needs. This video is not about the metal sound it is about playing in the style for beginners who never picked up the instrument.. Dude get with it music is supposed to be FUN!
Finally, Finally some one on you tube who actaully gets it. I have been on here and through the some odd 600o comments we have gotten over all our videos FINALLY Somone who understands.

cool,thanks!
If that was to me, i wasn't being rude. i was just saying drop C on a telecaster with single coils is really uncommon
yeah, but Jim uses EMGs with a mahogany body, which is hardly your average Tele tone.
I didnt see it as being critical sorry for that. In further lessons though it should be pointed out that strings do matter when dropping your tuning
You all have to understand this is for beginner level. Stop being so critical and try to enjoy and get something out of it.
one of my strats has two humbuckers, the new EMG 81/85X models. I bet it can kick an ESP's ass any day. who says 'Caster's cant do the heavy?
@KissMeImPunk
jim root from slipknot uses a TELE, so does john 5..... and you cant tell me they arent metal muscians
I think its a good lesson. The guitar needs heavy strings though! sounds weak and not very punchy
Hmmm... a telecaster with no humbuckers in drop C.. very interesting
Drop B, A# and G ftw :DDDD
