Just got my Hyperion, OMG, PURE GOLD!🎉 Lives in a single Fredenstein Bento chaisis on my master bus: Burl B32 summing>Tegeler Creme>SSL fusion>*Hyperion>Bettermaker mastering limiter
Thank you so much for making these extremely helpful videos. I currently own a Neve MBT, and I'm trying to continue building my chain, so I'm debating between a Rhea and Hyperion setup or an xpressor and xfilter ME combo. Which option do you think sounds better for mix bus and mastering purposes? Thanks in advance. Have a great day!
@milo-ki-music I have the hyperion and Rhea chained together as my go to vocal bus. The Rhea is an incredible sounding compressor. I would say Wes Audio is much better than the Elysia modules. I used to have the Elysia modules years back and liked them. The Wes Audio modules are far more advanced.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio Thank you so much for your honest answer, I really appreciate it! I know you have some of the best gear in the world, but would you say that the Rhea and Hyperion are well suited for mix bus and mastering contexts?
H, really like your Videos! Helped me a lot with my Analog Gear Chain :) I'm planning on buying a new 500 series EQ and was wondering if by chance you've used the "Zähl EQ1" before? If so, what do you think of it? greetings Alejandro
Hi again, yo are det best high end mastering channel on youtube. Im from Oslo Mastering. Im looking for a new mastering eq, and I really like this unit from what you show us here, but how are they for mastering? How do the compare to masalec, and all the other eq you have? I know the price 6 x, but really want to know. Ihave the gyraf G14, meyer cp-10(poor man version of GML 8200) tube tech hlt 2a and oram hd eq.
Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. Whilst I love this EQ, I would say for high end mastering it isn't going to ideal. I personally don't like 500 series for mastering. It can be used of course, I just much prefer a dedicated 19" unit instead. My advice at this time of the year is to hold out until Namm in January and see what is coming. Or go with a really good mastering EQ like the masselec, Buzz or similar. I feel if you buy a hyperion for mastering at your level, you'll find you may sell it later down the line for a more high end mastering grade EQ.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio thank for the honest answer,! That why Itrust you. What about the Tegeler EQP1 pultec eq? Have you tryed that one? Of the demo I see on the youtube, it seem very nice and tight. Do you have some inside info about what comming on namm?
@henningbortne8650 I haven't actually tested any of the Tegler gear. So I can't comment. I have a fair bit of inside knowledge on what is coming at Namm. But as you can imagine. None I can post here. There's a lot of cool things coming though for us mastering engineers.
Thanks for the review! How would you rate the Hyperion for boosting the upper frequencies for air? I would like to get it as an replacement for sth. like the Maag EQ4 or the Avedis E27.

Bettermaker did mid/side in their units haha. But that’s no surprise. Bettermaker and WesAudio both did 500 series right!

Thanks. Glad you are enjoying the videos. I haven't used the Zahl so can't comment too much on that one. I've always heard it is a great EQ.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio thanks for your response!
It seems like I’ll have to buy and try it :)
That’s a good reason to buy more Gear xD
Do you know of any eq where you can solo the bands?. I only want to hear the eq band that I’m working on.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio cant wait :) Do you any pultec in your chain?
@henningbortne8650 no I'm actually not a huge fan of pultec in mastering.
In terms of sound quality which one do you prefer on the 2bus Hyperion or ssl ultraviolet ?
I actually prefer the Ultraviolet.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio thank you for response! Very nice reviews you have in your UA-cam Channel :)

I wouldn't say it would replace the Maag for the purpose of airband. Best thing to do is get them both side by side and directly test this.
