Abortion or not, I don't think selfish people should have children. Shelley dodged a bullet by not being raised by Norma. Norma sounds like a narcissist. I'm glad Shelley can keep her privacy, her opinion on abortion is personal, leave her alone.

If it were me as her father, the very second I would have discovered that Norma was the biological mother...I would have gotten a restraining order. Norma tries to violate that then take the woman to court.

From much experience with my parents Bonnie and Terry Tipton, one question going through my mind is someone trying to prove I am deceptive with my parents and other relatives? I do not like being around the above because they express themselves as morally perfect people, as people with perfect judgement, who only think noble thoughts, and have the highest intellect, and I am made to feel stupid most of the time. Is that my role in life, to believe I am inferior in judgement, intelligence, and character to them as well as my immediate relatives. am supposed to beg them for help or advice or something? Would they be trying to prove I am deceptive?

Adopted woman to adopted woman: think about growing up, your mother is the person who was there for the moments of your life. Those are the actions of love and mothering; any woman can give birth. That’s all that woman did, she’s not your mother

Agreed, but I would also say that a woman who has three abortions is irresponsible. Of the two choices (give away or abortion) I would say it’s more “responsible” to give away your kids than to take their own life (abortion) because it’s inconvenient for you. To have to live with the reality that you killed your own offspring is insane.

You see so much fighting for the right for someone to take a life but no fight for personal responsibility. This is ultimately a cultural issue of promiscuity. We can't blame a government or state becuase of a lack of self control. I think the public and state should ultimately decided and if someone disagrees then they can move to a state that does. If refugees from South America can escape war make it to our country and become a part of our union then a promiscuous women can move to a state where they can abort at their leisure. Makes no sense that the federal government has to proceed over something so personal, it makes more sense to allow the people to make their individual choices as republics.

How does that put it in perspective any more than any other adoption? That choice has always existed before Roe. At least for the baby. Single mothers who might have wanted to keep their child had no choice. Being single and pregnant branded them as sluts. They weren't allowed a choice, just like women who didn't want to have a baby had no choice. If you want perspective, talk to a woman who was spared having an unwanted child that would have altered the trajectory of her life. Then acknowledge that making such a choice doesn't deserve your judgement.

According to your beliefs, I would have landed in heaven, so I don't see a down side. But my mother never had a choice as to whether or not to abort me or even raise me herself. She was a very young teen, sent away in shame, forced to carry the result of a statutory rape, then returned to the same environment with the rapist. Rinse. Repeat. She spent her pregnancies in an institution that labeled her a sinner. The back of my head is flat because I spent the months waiting to be adopted, neglected, left laying on my back. It's called plagiocephaly. The women at the institution never received proper natal care and my life has been a constant health struggle due to that. it’s funny how people think pro-choice isn’t an equal option. pro-choice isn’t pro-abortion, and if it was, that doesn’t mean killing babies, nor is it fun. pro-choice is the right to chose. I don’t understand these people saying “I think it should be equal, I want everyone to be happy. It’s not for me personally but I feel like people should have the right to chose.. but I’m not pro-life or pro-choice” like sis you’re literally pro-choice

These word games are so tiring. Please tell me what "choice" does the pro-choice movement advocate for that pro-life doesn't? It's direct abortion, plain and simple. The pro-life movement stresses actual alternatives for mothers, like adoption or seeking help from charities to provide food, medical appointments, and overall support. All of the money from pro-choice organizations goes towards Planned Parenthood or helping to provide abortifacients to women in other ways, it only goes towards more abortions, more death.
Killing a child should never be a "choice." It's not a choice that anyone ever needs to make, otherwise we're no better than the Romans leaving unwanted newborns on a hill waiting for wolves to eat them. "Equal" in this scenario would be everyone acknowledging that the mother and the child in the womb have equal human rights, namely the right to life.

You always want to throw up adoption, but you never think about what the child has to go through... not all children get adopted, and not all children get adopted into loving homes.

Norma McCorvey was clearly troubled. Who knows what she truly believed?
Norma’s daughter, Shelly, is justifiably upset about having nearly been aborted. Her older half-sister, Jennifer, seems more forgiving about Norma giving her up for adoption.
But Jennifer seems completely oblivious to the irony when she says she “has a problem when people judge what women’s can do with their bodies”. Her sister, Shelly, has a body that would have been cut to pieces at 5 months in the womb, if her mother, Norma, if Texas law hadn’t stopped the abortion.
I wonder if Jennifer thinks it’s ok for Shelly to judge her mom’s decision to abort her.

"The unborn" are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike orphans, they don't need money, education, or childcare; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It's almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.

1:36 That's the problem with this type of behavior in a nutshell. Shelly Lynn Thornton wouldn't even be around to make that statement if her mother had her way absolutely. Her mother was a wild woman who didn't really want any kids, but kept behaving in a way that would produce them. She opportunistically accused a vulnerable group manipulatively and was dishonest at the behest of the legal pro-opposite of life team.
Kids shouldn't be punished for having mothers who don't value them, have time for them, who don't believe they have the money for them, or who don't feel like the circumstances that created them are acceptable. It's a rough start, but at least give the kids a chance to make something of their lives. If people in general are decent to them as they grow and hopefully one or two people are really exceptionally caring as mentors, they'll grow to have sense enough to find their way and make something of their lives. Death is horrible, dreadful, and morbid. There's no causing that state in another (especially human) organism that doesn't leave some kind of negative mark on a person's psyche.

No discussion about the father's views, responsibilities, connections... not criticising this particular video, just saying that men don't haev to face either the choices, the consequences or the scrutiny. And yet if motherhoos is sacred to us, shouldn't we make sure that women get the knoweldge, the support and the care that they need? No country is good enough at empowering and protecting girls and young women and that is sad.
