I had a 73 roadrunner with a 340 4 barrel automatic in the service in southern California and used to blow by all the camaros and mustangs, wish I still had it,super car !
I look at cars every day, and there's still a lot I don't know. It's nearly impossible to remember all the details of each model. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!
Absolutely stunning car ! THAT'S when they used to make REAL automobiles. I was just coming of age in 1973, and bought my first car, a wonderful 62 Dodge Dart.
@@butterswishflamingconserva1488 keep thinking that. more 400s for us. when that 383 cracks the mains, you will wish you had gotten a 400 block, with a bottom end that rivals the hemi.

True. I had a 73 roadrunner 400 4 speed with 3.55 sure grip 73,000 original miles with the window sticker. It was nice but it was a dog. I had a 68 dart gts 340 4 speed with 3.91 gear's after that and that car was a super fast car. I'm sad I sold it but I did see it at 2 car show's that I attended.

Nice to finally see smog era cars getting their dues. Also nice to see that someone knew that this was a 'rare bird' and kept it up ( not sure if it's restored but it sure is clean) Lots of people thumb their noses at 400s, but these were pretty good engines, and present a great baseline to do pretty much anything 1 wants with it. I do not remember a 400 CID Mopar. Was that a 383 bored out for smog control? As I recall there was the Slant Six, 318, 340, 383, 326 Hemi, 440 wedge (i think). I owned a 1964 Belvedere 318, 2 dr sedan. Later I installed a take out 383 from a wrecked Road Runner in it...waste of time and money and no appreciable performance increase. Wish I had that car back with the original 318.
I'm glad you like it. It really is one of the nicest I've seen. Thanks for checking it out, I appreciate it!
Yep, only 749 were produced with a 400 with a four-speed. I'm sure there are a lot less then that left now. Thanks for watching!
This is a nice, clean example for sure. That's cool that you used to have one. Thanks for checking this one out.
Glad to hear you got the Javelin, they really are great cars. Thanks for watching my videos, I'm glad you find them useful.

400s can be made to run harder than a 340 easy. basically a big block 340 to start with.

340s would keep up with any big block in the day
