    I got a 12lb box of clay balls on Amazon for a decent price. With the clay balls they soak up the water and then slowly release it as humidity whereas with gravel rocks don't soak up any of the liquid so therefore does not release any humidity

    Hope these anoles pull through. I'm not seeing nearly as many anoles in my yard these days and I kinda miss watching the little buggers in the wild.

    Those anoles are in good hands. I’m looking to get one myself (male preferred because every single pet I get winds up being a boy, so why not keep the tradition going). I got everything needed including the lights and what not, except a dual light fixture. Once that is obtained, I’m ready to get an anole. Believe it or not, I was planning on originally getting a Madagascar day gecko, but the anoles with their quirkiness won me over.

So I made him a tank and rescued a feeder female for him. The Two have such a ❤bond🎉🎉so trusting w/me now I can tong feed.❤watching them-am trying to decipher their Morse code headbob .

    I've got a rescue green anole of my own. Poor girl was left behind with other animals in a house (owner was arrested for some pretty messed up stuff, house was demolished due to poor conditions beyond repair) and she had a gnarly injury to her eye, she's unfortunately blind in it. Dead Eye (I couldn't help myself) has recovered greatly compared to the near death husk she was when I took her in (other recovered animals were rehabbed and adopted out) and she's such a rich, vibrant green and inquisitive and full of so much sass when you mess with her enclosure. Love having her out to sit on my computer while I work or just let her cling to my hoodie as she's very tolerant of handling. I was worried about her being blind in one eye since she was a bit awkward on her feet at first, she's back to being confident and chases her prey when she's in her feed box with no difficulty. These rad little lizards are so full of personality and are so fun to observe.

    Another drainage layer option is lava rock, can get it from home depot as people use it fore gas fire places tho sometimes too big to be usable for drainage. Looks better then leca imo. Can also combine it with leca by putting lava around the sides, leca in the middle
    I put wood under my enclosures that don't quite fit on the place I put them. And by wood I mean thick wood cutting boards cause I'm too antisocial atm to go to the hardware store and get a piece of wood cut. Looks like you have enough space above could add a single piece of wood under all of them, raising each up a bit, and get them on the same height. Tho, if earthquakes in your area, may want to add some earthquake protection . to prevent them from falling off (can add some wire for example). I live in San Francisco, so that's a concern for me.
    I believe the size of enclosure is Sometimes the size of with the glass, not including the metal. It varies from manufacterer, and some manufacterers -- some are smaller then the listed size! Gallons can also be a bit bs, when rounding to highest number.

    I've never seen Persian shield before. It's gorgeous. I love the wandering jew (what's up with these racial plant names BTW 😂)
    Because of their purple and sparkly leaves. Yours are very purple compared to other ones I've seen. I used to have one and it grew to be 3 feet long. I loved it and want another one.

    Hey clint. Can I grab your advice real quick? Im stuck between wanting an ackie, sand goanna, timor, argus, or dumerils. I love the idea of an ackie, but want somethint 3-4.5 feet. Thank you so much man

    • @Dakotahblueexotics
      @Dakotahblueexotics  Місяць тому +1

      I haven't had much experience with timors. Ackies are awesome as they stay a nice small size but you still get the monitor experience. I wouldn't recommend an Argus. Males can get big and are very food motivated. Unless you have experience with monitors. I also unfortunately don't know much about dumerils. Quince would be a good choice as well. They stay within that size range and are slow growers!

      Some of my favorite aquarium fish are literally sold as feeders. Nothing wrong with keeping a "feeder" as a pet.

      @@KhaeLikesCoffeeI’ve had many feeders that ended up becoming pets,one of the most interesting was a pair of small wolf spiders that I gave to my tarantula,I caught them mating in the enclosure so I separated them and made a separate cage for them.
