Cut & Ratio The cut of an oval diamond is crucial; you want to make sure it has rounded (not pointy) tips and graceful sides to give it a perfect oval outline as opposed to an egg shape. For the ratio of the diamond that is a matter of preference and most of our clients prefer the 1.4:1 to 1.6:1 range
