- Well that was a lot of rambling (and heavy breathing). If you couldn't tell, I was very caught off guard by how quickly I got this and tried to cover all the bases best I could. This is actually the second shiny I've caught from the battle tower using this method, and that one was much closer to odds.

YOURE A GODDAMN GENIUS. I wish I knew about this like 4 years ago. Thank god for the glitchyness of R/S/E, the cloning, and rng manipulation helped me almost complete a living dex in fire red. I quit playing legit though, I just edit my save files now, and install them on my cartridge, to live my childhood fantasies.

Very cool glitch! I once found a shiny Slaking in the Battle Tower and I remember I still never caught my roaming Latias. If I knew about this back then I may have tried it!

My first shiny ever was a feebas I caught and years later after hearing about the odds it’s insane congrats

This makes me want to get an original copy of emerald again, i miss my old save file and almost had the hoenn dex finished too, or get 2 save files and ruby and sapphire to do everything and do all the glitches possible, even try to get the events, back then really was the best, and emerald is still one of the best rpgs ever made
you cant use thief ball? if theres a zigzagoon i put 5 in my party so i cant have tonts of loot if im on farming.

hoping to get more info on the "once per save file" detail you mentioned, if its just that particular milotic can be caught once per game or the method itself can be used once overall per game, assuming the former though because that makes more sense
edit 2: found not being able to re-encounter the roaming legendary after KO is terrible, I'm surprised its really programmed like that, always thought as a kid to catch without KO to be safe but wasn't sure if it could be resummoned/respawned

Do we know how opponent's Pokemon IV's and EV's work in the Battle Tower? I am really curious to know that Milotics' IV's and EV's.
The IVs depend on the win streak and the EVs depend on the specific set. I was at a high enough streak for Milotic to have all 31 IVs but never looked into the EVs
Hey, I was wondering if you could check your milotic's IVs over at the battle frontier iv lady? I've been dying to know if they cheat in the battle frontier with perfect ivs
IVs are determined by your streak. The first 7 battles have 0 IVs for all opponents - then increase to 31 over multiple sets. My Milotic has perfect IVs because of this

Like LettuceLeaf said at the end, it can only be done once per savefile after beating the Pokemon Champion. So it makes sense that it's not a popular method.
Also yeah it seems easy to mess up. You need a good enough team to beat a lot of trainers at the battle Tower but be able to lose at any time. That's so tedious 😓

This is so cool! I wish I had known this back in the day as I remember a shiny Espeon kept appearing in the Battle Tower in my original playthrough of Sapphire. I didn’t even know shiny Pokémon existed at the time and thought it was a weird game glitch that was making the Espeon green!
Does this count as a legal pokemon? For example could i use it in Scarlet competitive without ban risk?
It is transferable but may not be considered legal. I have not tested whether it passes legality checks for competitive

Yea but if you have another game to transfer to and don’t mind playing through the game again, which takes about a few hours, you can get some really cool mons out of the BT. Is it practical? No, absolutely not. But it is unique
Weirdly enough, the other day I got a tv broadcast in Sapphire that Latias was spotted flying over Hoenn. Idk what I did to trigger this. I had already caught her for this save file... But that means I can try to utilize this glitch to catch a battle tower shiny!

Haven’t tested that but I suspect it won’t trigger the battle in the same way KOing does

Marks are not generated that way. Only gen 8+ mons have marks

Is it still possible to send this Milotic over to the current gen? I know that if you got a DS Lite you can put in your gba cardridge while playing diamond or pearl and you can catch your milotic in the DS game. After that i dont know

No
so you're basically catching another trainer's pokemon?
Yeah basically. Without going into the specifics, battle tower opponents are generated in a similar way to wild and stationary encounters. So when you catch one, it's legit as far as the game is concerned. This is not the case if you use to glitch to catch any other trainer's pokemon, which you can do but the game will turn it into a bad egg in most cases.

I think that's because the games stop checking for the exact location where Pokémon were caught during Gens 3-5, because the Poké Transporter overwrites the data with just the region's name. So this Milotic in the video would probably be considered to come from Hoenn, with no further specifications. And since all of its moves are legal, it should pass with no problem.

It’s been forever since I’ve played RSE, so: when you defeat a roaming Latias or Latios, is it gone from the game? Meaning you can only exploit this glitch once?

I also have a link cable and every GBA version of Generation 3 so if you're interested in making this something for people to access by the masses, I recommend you make multiples of it or contact me if you can't manage that yourself... I've got Discord/Twitter and I think it'd be cool to own this in Gen 3 or other Generations as well honestly
@@jinsxngandjuice While I’m not against cloning mons in general, I’d like to preserve my Milotic’s uniqueness best I can. So, I’d rather not clone/ distribute it. One of my side projects has been mapping out methods for RNG abuse of the tower spawns on emulator. It’s been very tedious and I don’t know when I’ll have anything comprehensive, but I’ll eventually post my findings down the line. If the random/ soft reseting isn’t working out for you, whatever I find on emu should help

@@lettuceleaf0_0 hello again, I had a few questions because I'm going for Shiny Milotic via this method myself... Was the 257 KOs in a row or just the amount of Pokémon defeated before you saw it? And how long did this take you to do in total hours on your file?
@@jinsxngandjuice I probably got to that number in 2 or 3 streaks. Milotic spawns a lot in the 50+ range so shoot for that when you can. Idk how long it took me with breaks. You could probably get a good streak in under an hour.
