    Watched quite a few forestry videos on YT. First time I've seen a bore cut into a face cut. Makes total sense on a big tree. Always learn something watching the pros at work. Thanks for the video!

    Been there done that, hate limbing spruce. I cut a lot of it on Oregon Coast and Southeast Alaska. thanks for the share.

    Those growth rings are huge! I dropped an oak a few weeks ago, 32" in diameter, and it was over 120 years old. I can't imagine having trees that grow as quickly as those.

    Hot saws and Humboldt cuts. Yeah buddy! Reminds me of working out west years ago. I didn't run saw except for firewood. My tiny saw still helped heat the house.

    I have dropped some massive oaks and maples back in the days of my felling and even some today, but nothing like those ginormous spruce you guys were felling, that would be a blast!
    Any idea of how old those trees were? Thank you for sharing another great video with us Gordy!

      They were not very old. The growth rings are bigger than my thumb on some of those

    It's crazy how fast these things grow. I've seen clear cuts of 8' diameter trees that were only 80 year old, second growth on the north Oregon coast where i hunt elk

    Were these second growth trees? Those growth rings are huge, they really do grow them faster on the coast

    How did you convert the caps on the 044 rom the OG screw on to the twist cap style?

      @@spencerstockwell Pulp pays more than $100/mbf... maybe you were saying the loggers were getting $100/mbf... Just looked it up Util Spruce is $400mbf. Its gone up ~70% no wonder they are finally cutting those wolf trees.

      @@w8stral depends on your area. i’m in western washing, so are these guys. conifers are of a plenty here, spruce hemlock and pine are not worth the time when you have millions of acres of doug fir and red cedar

      @@spencerstockwell Uh, can you read... Appears you do not know what a wolf tree is... No, it does not "depend" on your area. Uh, buddy ol' pal, SPRUCE without limbs is HIGHLY valued. Spruce with limbs is junk regardless of where you live or where it is felled. In fact, limbless spruce is better $$$ than #2 Doug. In some instances it is better than #1 WRC.

    Down here those big horny ones would be shipped straight to the chip yard. I hate that big coastal spruce. Smells like Elmer’s glue but it’s pretty tough

    I used to like stihl until I used a husky and was so much lighter,higher rpm,no oil leaks,not as bulky,etc

    Have you guys read project 2025 and how it lays out the guidelines for another trump term more specific logging regulations and the extra fees and tariffs on goods used by loggers ..and increased tax burden on workers of 11.78 percent over 2 years...costing workers millions in unpaid overtime eliminate the forty hoyr week and assume the 160 hour month ..vote as if feedimg your family matters ..it will under project ,2025
