  • Katie running up and down the siding at Ravenglass for a Young Engineers event on 6th April 2023.
Katie was originally built in 1896 by Sir Arthur Heywood to run on his estate at Eaton Hall, Cheshire. She was sold to Ravenglass in 1916, and in 1919 sold on to run at Southport and Fairbourne before being dismantled in 1929. Her remains were returned to Ravenglass.
In the 1990s, it was decided to use her original frames to build a working model, so began a 25 year restoration project leading to Katie finally being able to re-enter service in 2018.
She is usually a static display in the Ravenglass Railway Museum, but is bought out and steamed at special events.
