This album changed my life when I was 17. I didn't fit in with anyone. Then I bought this album on hearing rattle snakes. It's the album that keeps on giving. About the same time I got night and day by joe Jackson. These albums had a massive impact on my brain my personality and my style. For the best 👌
I discovered them at the same age thanks to my american friend from Tacoma. And I've been listening to them since this beautiful american spring of the late eighties.
I can't hear this without hearing camera obscuras "Hey Lloyd, Im ready to be heartbroken" which is the best answer to another song I've ever heard. Listen to it right after this.
Lloyd coles songs really bring me back in time. It really captures a certain time and feelings related to that time in history. British music always has that power, its really magical and along with the music great voices with great spiritual essence.
Lloyd Cole is amazing. I have liked soo many bands/artists over the years and he is one of the few that i go back to over and over again. Brilliant. Hope he can see this.
Played this my niece whos just about to start uni. Her visions of saving the planet and the starving millions , and right wing politics. Or very well and good but dont forget the human heart, and emotions i reminded her. Two years later... well you know the dance
Brings back memories - first song played at the first ever SAFM Skyshow in Adelaide - 1985. I can even recall the parachutists jumping out sailing down to the ground while this song was playing out of thousands of ghetto blasters.
Lyrics: Looking like a born again, living like a heretic Listening to Arthur Lee records, making all your friends feel so guilty About their cynicism and the rest of their generation Not even the government are gonna stop you now … But are you ready to be heartbroken ? Are you ready to be heartbroken ? … Pumped up full of vitamins on account of all the seriousness You say you're so happy now, you can hardly stand Lean over on the bookcase if you really want to get straight Read Norman Mailer or get a new tailor … Are you ready to be heartbroken ? Are you ready to be heartbroken ? Are you ready to bleed ? … What would it take What would it take to wipe that smile off of your face ? Are you ready to be, are you ready to bleed ? Are you ready to be heartbroken ? Are you ready to bleed ? (heartbroken) Well you better get ready now baby Are you ready to bleed, ready to bleed ?

Still simply astounding today. Scotland’s Lou Reed?
I ALWAYS thought he was Scottish, until today I found out he's NOT!
He's English, went to uni in Glasgow and band formed there.
Cette chanson me fait tout quitter à chaque écoute...
