To whoever is listening to this song now, wherever you are.... Sending you love, peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good❤
Rattlesnakes LP album was the first album I bought when I was a teenager. Yet Forest fire was the only song I had heard on radio/tv (it was a big hit in the charts), and it was really a haunting song. I still know it by heart...
And then I've discovered the whole album : woaw !!!! ... Still one of my favorite (all the songs are really very good!)... I spent hours listening to it... Then also bought it as a CD...But still keep preciously my LP album I still cherish!
Today in 2024 I still listen to it with the same emotion : that's really a feel-good album!
Many many Thanks to Lloyd Cole and The Commotions for that amazing album! ❤❤❤
PS : to those who discover this song today : listen to it using good headphones (not with your phone ) if you want to enjoy the sound as it deserves.
Three albums, three incredible moments of 80's artistry.
Where has the time gone? I remember listening to them on my Walkman like it was yesterday. He’s such a talented songwriter.
Yes, fantastic writer, they were so good. I could cry listening to this, what I would give to go back, days filled with whatever job you wanted, nights filled with great music, weekends started on a Thursday night and ended on Monday mornings, a night out with a tenner included a Chinese or a kebab and a taxi home. Men were men even when they wore makeup, women were women, children free to be children. We thought the greatest threat to our country was thousands of miles away, not in our own parliament, wth went wrong 😢
Me too❤
Circa summer 1984. In October I saw The Smiths in Leisure Land, Galway, supported by James. Those we're the days! Best gig I ever saw until 10cc this year in Dublin. PS Love the gorgeous guitar riff at the end.
Toujours aussi bon! 🥰🥰
Lloyd Cole was and still is a magical vocalist and an amazing song writer. Simply timeless, I’m now 61 and his music still moves me !
My Ex and I loved this song and the album formed the soundtrack to our early days...17 years later we grew apart and I find myself coming back here in 2020 to listen as I sit writing a remembrance card for his funeral on Monday 🖤 Heartbroken but smiling through my sorrow 🖤
Those time will never forget!
💜
🫂🌙💜
what a so beautiful comment, "nous resterons ici pour l'éternité et elle sera avec les autres , encore et encore , pres de toi" .
Oh dude 😢
Absolute masterpiece from the 80's. And legendary guitar solo. Hats off Lloyd Cole👏👏
Listening to Lloyd Cole was part of the process of learning English. Those times, without Internet, it was play-pause-play in an old cassette recorder and writing in a notebook the lyrics. I know by heart all the songs in this album.
That’s exactly what I did, play and pause and write the lyrics…nostalgia.
Play and pause.... what a memory...
Lovely words, lovely '80 years, lovely Memories
I' m now the same Person.. altough I'm 67but everytime, anytime british mood ❤
Yes t'was fantastic for my vocab.....
Nobody looks as good in a polo neck as good as Lloyd!
RIP Benny Harvey, gone but not forgotten. Miss ya big man x
I fell over to this amazing song.
Glastonbury 85/86,obviously enjoying my weekend, as the song builds and gets to the magic point my legs went. 😂. When music can do that it's obviously class. ❤
maybe you were pissed and it was muddy
Quite possibly the best guitar solo of all time
😅i used to foist this on my pals.Wait for the solo.wait for the solo.
The anthem of my youth. What a perfectly constructed piece of musical genius.
yes,
So cool
tis that
Not quite my cup of tea, i think in order to listen to this song and get through it, Cole needs you to like him, and i don't like him, i find him completely without charm. But he does show an intelligence of a certain kind.
Yes
I had completely forgotten about this band and especially their first album . When it came out I played it non stop for about a month much to the annoyance of friends and family 😂.
❤ just loving it. Makes me think of the man of my life. Sweet 80's
I hear you. Between 1984-86 we had The Commotions, Prefab Sprout, and The Smiths. Now it's Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. What a musical decline!
Played that album to death when it came out,one of the best debut albums of all time.
Same here! I also saw them in Milano. Loved and still love this band.
I love that my son plays this when he's carpentering?! I passed it on, great music and essential to our family memories. The arrangement in this song is profound. Beautiful xx
I cannot possibly be held responsible for returning to my love for 80’s music, when artists like “Lloyd Cole and the Commotions” have made such beautiful memory evoking and goosebump inducing sounds.
As some famous Swedes once said, “thank you for the …..”
L was around back in the 80s in Glasgow it was great
As time goes by lloyd cole manages to get in your head to make this crazy world seem not that bad at all chill and hum along what the hell.the work of a maestro.
My first cassette album, heard it thousand times, loved it for ever 💞
No one forgets who was there when they had no one
simply one of the best song ever .....nous disparaitrons tous...mais cela restera
Massively brilliant song
I Love the Guitar on this track - The solo at the end and the sound is just sublime.
Love the guitars too : they increase and amplify the sound for the final climax.
Yeah the prod is perfect.
The original goes more than a minute longer into that. A pity they cut that in the clip.
King Crimson. ;-)
Same here, the guitar at the end give me shivering sensations
I will never tire of this album. For me it simply is inconceivable. 'Rattlesnakes' is Lloyd's masterpiece and this is the very best track. I had to think long and hard before making that call. What a debut and Lloyd is still making great music.
Used to play this on the jukebox all the time when I was very young, so long ago, loved it so much...
In my top ten all time ...... I have 50 or 60 in my top ten from the 80’s 🙈
The ending is probably my favourite guitar part from the 1980s
Coucou bisous❤
I bought Rattlesnakes when I was 15 back in 1985, when everyone else was listening to Michael Jackson and Madonna[!] It sounds as good now as it did back then -timeless. This is a great clip; classy, sentimental and arty and befitting the music. Lloyd Cole is still making good music and is a pleasure to see live. Deserves 1 million + views but, hey, we can't all have great taste ;)
One of the most underrated guitar solos ever! Saying that, the song is also perfection. Rumour has it that when recording the song, Neil Clark carried on with his solo whilst the rest of the band disappeared for a cuppa 😊
yes i heard the same
Since I was 13 years old, I considerated this as the best love song ever written, just a sublime peace of Art. And Lloyd Cole was my idol: the most beautiful man and best singer ever. This was the band I loved mostly .
Listening to this means having good taste, period.
This song deserves 100.000.000 views
Eric Sellet 👌👌👌👌
and even more ! Remembering my seventeen year old !
The SONG yes ...not the video ..
This has been one of my very favorite songs for years and years. It does not sound like a 1980's song to me. It feels very ahead of its time.
I still listen to it almost every night when I go to bed 🥰
David Gray was definitely listening !
i could burn forever dear god like a forest fire
. Saw them live many times in the 80s. Still listen now.
I cannot count the times I have heard this song but it still opens my heart and the years well up in my eyes. Incredibly beautiful. Thankyou.
I remember seeing them in concert at the edinburgh playhouse. Worth every penny
Hey, yeah I was in the VIth form & never got to see them, I never saw the Smiths either !
Life is full of regrets.
Knowing that we are all talking to each other as middle age men makes me feel a little better 💗
Such a great song that still sounds as great as it did when first released
Couldn't agree more!!
Superb !!! 💥💥
Amazing song
Genius. Absolute genius. Oh for more innocent times.
I was blessed to live next to the sea... and we would spend hours bouncing stones on the water ... just like its shown in this video. 4 pm to 5 pm was my fav time next to the sea.......Thank you lord for blessing me with those sublime moments of life......thank u

Love this timeless song and especially the guitar "fire" solo at the end
My all time favorite song!
July 2020 still listen to this almost everyday 🥰
.. keping a young mind!
possibly the best crafted pop song ever. respect.
"Everytime we get together, stormy weather"
Bought this album when it came out - Just seen this video for the first time - WOW. Brilliant track from a brilliant album.
me, it was a perfect album. Never had had an album that I loved all the songs through. that was the case of Rattlesnakes; Loved this song, was singing it today in the car in Brazil and now seing the video for the very first time after 20 years ! lol

Reminds one that 80s music wasn't a complete waste of time.

J'adore 💕
Remember buying an album quite soon it arrived but never saw any videos until now, thanks for UA-cam.
Simply brilliant
Rattlesnakes is one of the all time great albums
what about this lyrics
She crossed herself as she put on her things
She has promised once before not to live this way
If she don't calm down she will burn herself out
Like a forest fire, well doesn't that make you smile
If you don't slow down, I swear that I'll come round
And mess up your place, let's go for a spin
They say we shouldn't even know each other
And that we'll be undone
Don't it make you smile like a forest fire
I believe in love, I'll believe in anything
That's gonna get me what I want and get me off my knees
Then we'll burn your house down, don't it feel so good
There's a forest fire every time we get together
Hey pick you up, put you down
Rip you up and spin you round
Just like we said we would
'Cause we're a forest fire
Believe you me, we'll tear this place down
If we get caught in this wind, then we could burn the ocean
If we get caught in this scene, we're gonna be undone
It's just a simple metaphor
It's for a burning love
Don't it make you smile like a forest fire
The perfect pop song.
yeq
yes
Nathalie Nowostawski yes!
a classic. a timeless classic. thanks guys.
It's a nice video, but the song deserves to be heard in its entirety. It's the last 90 seconds that make it.
Awesome song, deserves more recognition
Hands up for Enablers✊……… whoever you are … Thankyou
I loved his hair 🤣
In my top 10,the only Lloyd Cole record I bought, cos it's their best...
