Thanks for sharing! Do you have an update on how the spent grains worked with your operation? Were you able to cut costs, and did you note any impact on egg production and/or chicken health? I'm about to get into a relationship with a local brewer for a small amount (5 gallon bucket every few days, I think) which is more than enough for my hens, but was curious to know how your experience has been thus far.
It was great while it lasted! Unfortunately they ended up closing down their in house brewery and my friend got a job at a much larger producer, so I don’t get the spent grain anymore. For those six months though, my girls loved it. I’ve never really tracked egg production, but it drastically cut my feed cost. I would get between 120-250 lbs at a time though depending on the batch size he was running. I stopped rationing it out and would just give it to them in a couple big chunks, they would eat what they wanted when they wanted. I’m a big believer in deep litter inside the run, I want as much compostable material breaking down in there as possible to attract bugs and stuff, so whatever didn’t get eaten didn’t go to waste. That was a long explanation, I hope it all made sense!

Quality stuff. I wonder what the pros and cons are between pigs and goats. Off the cuff, I can't think why one is better than the other.
Goats are less mess, but probably would end up being pets more than food. Pigs are more work, but bacon….

I’d get a tarp and lay it out in the sun dry it and use it for a long time
