Let’s go Cruwear! I bet those leather punches are hard to get through thick leather. I agree with you. Hand stitched to me is actually stitching by Hand.💪🤘
Love it, kudos on the real hand work. I think for me where Spyderco still shines is that you can get their awesome K390 or M4 for 130 dollars and Magnacut for 160.
I have a huntsman that’s in need of a handcrafted slip from my favorite knife nerd. Leatherwork, sharpening, metallurgy, my mom, what don’t you do? I’m going to send you an email when I can for the slip. Your work is really nice. As for the cost of collecting, yeah it’s getting pretty expensive. My wife is always looking at me sideways when I see another “must have” something or other. The accessories start to add up too, and sharpening isn’t a cheap deal either with strops and stones and diamond compounds. I guess if I didn’t love it, it wouldn’t be a problem. Frankly, a little delayed gratification never hurt anyone. So, thanks for the content. Happy thanksgiving 🦃! Use your shit.🥰😍❤
Your leatherwork gets better every time I see it. I'm loving that slip I got from you. That multitool sheath looks good. I'd need one that closes over the top though for added security because I wear my multitool while blitzing the bike over rough terrain
The first Spyderco I bought in 1996 was the Edura and I spent 56.00 brand new in the box. At that time the clip was just plastic molded into the scales. Still have it still in excellent shape. But like anything else, once something catches on the price skyrockets
Great video. yes I agree somewhat on your take of Spyderco. I have just become rather picky about what I will get from them. Like I have passed on the last two Shaman releases and the REX121 Sage 5 since it is not a Sprint Run and will be standard issue. But I do plan to get all the 15V releases. It is just what I want to collect. I did the the REC 10V Lil'Native.
I would agree on your definition of handmade is hand sewn but also can conform to the idea that a sewing machine by hand is still handmade. Kind of like a homemade cake….if I cook a Betty Crocker in my oven I still had to mix and bake it, Betty just helped by measuring out my ingredients for me.
The prototype pocket sheath looks good. What is a stitching pony? Could you maybe show us one in a future video? Cool minimalist wallets. Take care and have a great weekend.
@@Stans_Cutlery_Universe essentially a clamp that holds your leather work, so you can stitch properly!!! I do have videos showing it, but I’ll show more!

I’m gonna be trying some Orange (Carrot) Leather a little down the road. Keep an eye out Next Thursday morning…. I’ll be taken care of the electronic Green for you. I use a small tabletop drill press on thick leather sheathes. Use the fork to mark the holes and then drill them on the press. It makes doing the stiching easy.
Love your slips. I started making some myself and you are absolutely correct with the hand stitch vs sewing machine. I have friends at work that make firefighter helmet shields and suspenders and claim hand sewn lol.
Steve Callaris 4V outcut spydercos 15V in my controlled environment testing. I had no plans on doing any cut testing on their rex 121 but I was asked multiple times by good people to do so. I haven't seen too many folks touch the stuff yet. I know Sal mentioned warping issues being problematic.
Erica - just got back from the Spyderco 'seconds sale', and then had 15V Mule Teams for $60. I don't know if they will have a way to get one online, but that could be a great entry into that steel, and given that it is a thin, slicey fixed blade, it may be more up your alley than even one of their folders. I'll try to call them next week and see if they have any left and if they do, what their plans are to sell them, maybe we can make something happen there.
@@ericasedc Just catching back up...unfortunately the answer we got was 'no', they won't sell any more seconds outside of the sale😔 But there is always next year.
have you ever seen some one use hardwood for a welt? Yeah Prices are crazy almost 500 Canadian for some of those spydercos Ive shifted to adding to my Case collection. Leather Looks Great !!
I’ve been hand stitching for years. I prefer the precision. The machine you describe would be useful if you moved up to large scale production (holsters, belts, etcetera). But with that, you’d likely need to modify your designs and assembly process for what you’re doing currently. Excellent video.
I gotta agree about the production knives. The asking price on them exceeding the price of some really good customs and the loss of value on the secondary market (unlike most customs) has turned me away from production knives almost entirelt unless I can get a great deal on them.
Keep kicking mom’s ass with the leather E! As far as prices go yeah they all go up and are insane but at least Spyderco is offering superior steels at those prices. For $250 you can get the Rex 121 Sage or a Benchmade Bugout in S30V. Not even a contest really! I too am losing interest in folders but I also have a lot🤣.
Yeah, I've slowed my role on buying US made folders. The last one I bought was a Manix 2 and the one before that was a Benchmade full sized Griptillian. It's been months since my last purchase of a US made knife of any kind. Taiwan, China Japan and Germany are benefiting from the US greedyness. What can you do or say...
