Good tips. Cocktail parties are fun and great time to flirt. I always like to attend and also give cocktail parties. Finger foods is good and cocktail drinks are best. I like to dress up for cocktail parties either by wearing a suite or a trouser, shirt and jacket combo. I have even worn a tuxedo to a few cocktail parties. I think that the host must set the stage for the right standard of the cocktail party, right from the invitation, the invitees, the venue, the food and drink to the introductions and the message (if any). I have taken a few dates to company cocktail parties, but I have come to realize that a classy woman is much better to invite than a down to earth no ambitions woman. I like to listen to good background music like smooth jazz.

It isn't easy to obey business dinner etiquette these days. I'm usually a well-behaved person even though I had bad behavior since early childhood. When it comes to being invited to a business dinner, I feel shy about dining out with a bunch of other employees in regards to obeying the boss' choice of restaurant ⛓. 👍🏻 if you highly agree.

"it's not advisable to dress up better than your boss because he might get offended" a system of pleasing people for their insecurities is an awful one. business "etiquette" is about being obedient to arbitrary rules for the end goal of gaining money and profiting off of others or others.
If I owned a firm and had employees I wouldn’t have business lunches. I would arrange meetings before or after lunch. It’s difficult, I think, to eat and talk at the same time. M.
I think that's why he recommended saving business talk for the dessert course. Talking hobbies while eating a steak is relatively easy and it's quite possible you won't even be in that conversation. Business requires everyone to be focused which is much easier over a piece of pie.

I agree with most of what you said., having been in business over 40 years and having these meetings. With one exception. The person who brought up democrats did a calculated risk, that is to say most democrats don't own business and are not in high managerial positions but instead are fire fighters, teachers in govt jobs. Now had the person you are entertaining to try and secure the contract, if he or she brings up politics it's good to side with them in some way like even a silver lining at least. Often times praising the same politics makes the buyer comfortable with you. If you know for certain that you share the same politics as your buyer, then you should bring it up in conversation. Agreeing on shared ethos is a great way to build trust that goes with religion as well. I would guess ya'll are democrats for saying to be quiet on politics and religion, which in business is not a wise Sun Tzu tactic that we in the market practice. Just by saying to be quiet may have lost ya'll all hundreds of followers on UA-cam. "Sanity is a narrow as a razors edge."
