Hello Engineer, Could you provide me with the word document and the Aspen Hysys file? I am trying to simulate a gas plant for my university project and I need information. If so, if you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. By the way, very good explanation and contribution with your video.
    Thank you very much

    Thanks a lot!
    Could you tell me please:
    1) Why first column is a reboiled absorber and not a distulation column! (No condenser)
    2) Why do we have partial condenser (for column 2 and 3) even though the simulation work with total (col 2) and full reflux (col 3)
    3) Why do we increase the pressure before col 2 and decrease before col 3?

      Well :-
      Question Number (1):
Using Reboiled Absorber is better because of two reasons:
      .
1-The main purpose of this first unit is to separate the Methane as gas and to send all the remaining Mixture to the next distillation column right ? So the Reboiled Absorber is much better and much easier in this mission because it has (no Condenser Calculation at all) so it will separate the gas directly from the top coz there is no need to adjust reflux calculations.
      .
2-It will maintains the high concentration of our stream and sends it through the bottom side as it is.. Because we will not lose anything goes as (condenser flashes, Liquids, accumulated streams, or even as overlapping stream) and that exactly what we need.. we need high concentrated stream to send it to the following separations processes.
      .
However you can easily replace the (Reboiled Absorber) with (Distillation column) just make the following changes :
      1-Condenser Drop: 32 kpa
      2-Reflux Ratio: 1.7
      3-Btms Prod Rate: 485
      4-Companents fraction:
      Stage: Condenser
      Phase: Vapour
      Value: 0.96
Component: Methane.. and it will work.. and if it not just tell me.
      .

      Question Number (2):
      .
Well first of all it can be (Partial or Full Reflux) but it can’t be (Total Reflux) because we need to separate Ethane and Methane as Gases and (Total Reflux = means that all the reflux will be liquid) ! Anyways I make it partial because if you went deep down with this process design you will find that there a lot of calculations (related to Distillation Design) compelled you to run it is partial condenser.. But anyways Aspen hysys is a thermodynamic tool and it will not affected by these calculations so it can be full reflux so easy just make the following changes:
      .
1-Change the Partial Reflux to (Full Reflux) and it will work.. that’s it !
      .
      Regards

      Question Number (3):
      .
You should but on your Mind as Successful Engineer that any distillation column is totally depends on two main factors :
      .
1-Column conditions (its pressure and temperature).
2-And the feed conditions (feed pressure and temperature). and any Distillation column designed to work with specific ranges.. so these changes in pressure are actually related to the columns design.. and it wil be great if you take a look on this reference : (Equipment selection and Design - 4th or 5th Edition) to see how distillation columns are totally affected by feed conditions.
      .

      Sure Miguel Ángel Zárraga González..
However it was just simple word file includes just the basic informations for each process in general (nothing technical). But sure or you can send me your name on (dr-zoling@hotmail.com).
