I appreciate your honest review. I personally am blown away by this game in 2022 after playing many other fps games and rpg's. The atmosphere of this game is on another level, and I can forgive a lot of the small issues . I'm playing on the PC and the graphics and level of detail in the environments puts many other games to shame. I agree that there are some clunky moments, but for me at least, the game world is just too immersive to let go because of a few annoyances. Good perspective on the game!
It's very subjective. Some people like atmosphere and world-building over everything else, others demand tight controls and solid technical performance while people like me are a pain in the ass and want both
@@goukigod you're not a pain in the ass, liking or disliking a game is always going to be subjective. I'm also a Gothic 3 fan, so that puts me in a category already :)
These 8-10h single-player narrative experiences are so rare these days. I played it on PS4 and plan to continue the adventure with Last Light at some point since I own Metro Redux. If my memory serves me well, the game wasn't very fun to play, but the setting and atmosphere were quite unique. Apparently the Switch ports are really good, so one could play Metro on the metro. I'll see myself out.
My thoughts exactly! I'm of two minds about playing last light. I didn't love how 2033 played but I could be tempted back for more of the world/atmosphere.
Totally agree. I wish there were more relatively briefly length games with replay-ability that was fun to go back for but not UNENDING games that just go on for months and have so much content they become draining. I think the 7th gen was the purest for peak of these type of games and what AAA developers were willing to make.
It can definitely be an acquired taste. I would describe is as a "Simulation PC Shooter". Along the lines of *F.E.A.R.* , *Chronicles Of Riddick* , and *"Crysis"* These types of games are meant to be played on their hardest difficulty, or whichever difficulty is hardest for you. If you don't make it a challenge, then these sort of games can lose their atmospheric appeal. It's meant to be a survival game, where danger is around every corner and every bullet counts. If that isnt the type of game you personally enjoy, then I would recommend passing on it. Personally, I love these sorts of games, but I'm also a dark souls nut. Haha. So, to each their own.
I personally played the redux version very recently and was blown away by the fact this was made almost a decade and still held up decently against fps shooters produced today, great review btw
@@Guy-mx4fb yea metro 2033 redux is the same just it has better graphics and some gameplay improvements, amazing game definitely enjoyed it, also redux includes the sequel remake last light
To be fair, the original 2033 very much does NOT hold up today, which is why this Redux version was so dearly needed. The controls and gunplay in the original are nearly as bad as in Stalker, which really sucks in a more linear-driven narrative shooter.
Got the Redux on switch a little over a year ago. This was my first time playing any Metro game and I was just blown away. It’s perfect for switch, the graphics look incredible on the OLED screen. I 100% recommend getting Redux on switch
with remasters every 10 years i can see this series being imortal, its also amazing how changing difficulty from normal to hardest changes genre of game completely
@@xbulelokinda, you feel more immersed and it feel more realistic since time to kill is shorter there is no hud, stealth is harder, less bulets etc.. its not that difficult, but most likely you will spend more time exploring world to find ammo and stashes
I think this is a fair review and it gets right to the point. If consoles and gaming services are going to sell the game, then there will be people who want to know if their money is going to be well-spent. This is often how you run across the gems in gaming. Stuff that was overlooked or bombed for some reason.
I just got done playing it in 2024 since I saw that the original Metro 2033 was deleted from steam and got the Redux trilogy. I loved both 2023 and Last Light. I am still in the middle of Exodus and i am stunned by how immersive it is.
The game holds up very well, I’m playing through it again on hardcore ranger mode for my third time. It’s challenging enough to engage you in the gameplay and the nostalgia is wonderful, the age it came from gives it a certain charm that’s hard to come across.
Games from that era have a particular flavour in visuals and game design. I think sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. With 2033 I think it mostly works.
Yes, it's one of the best novel-to-game adaptions that brings its own novelty in the mix. Of course, Dmitry Glukhovsky being personally involved adds a unique element to the finished product.
I have such fond memories of this game, I played the original on release as one of my first PC games after swapping from console. I was only 12 at the time and holy fuck it scared the shit out of me. Maybe it's better to just live in those memories rather than replaying it after what you've said lol.
2023 and actually graphics and everything doesn't keep me away from playing. This game might have bit plain graphics considering, but it won't feel outdated somehow cuz of it's polished so nice.
I wanted to play exodus but never got around to 2033 or last light, wow they are as good as most current releases visually and nothing touches the atmosphere since like…..fear or stalker? Great series I’ll get to exodus after these gems.
I just started playing it the other day. I'm usually a good judge of character of video games so I always impulse buy during a sale and I got all 3 games in a bundle for £7 on Xbox Series X and honestly I'm blown away by how well made the first one is and to think it's over a decade old now? WOW, Did I miss out on this gem when it released. As someone who never knew about these games, I'm genuinely surprised how well this one holds up today 👍
The night vision googles and the flashlight need to be charged frequently to make them work. On PC pressing F brings up the charger and repeatedly clicking charges it up
i was gonna comment this same thing, the only problem is the game doesn't tell you this beforehand, at least on the ranger mode which is how i played it. I thought my NV had bugged out and had to go and search online, turns out it was intended
I had the same problem with the night vision goggles that stopped working during a certain mission. I ended up realizing you have to recharge them just like your flashlight a few missions later I'm not usually someone who plays FPS or survival horror, but I did enjoy this game and plan to play the sequels
I grabbed all 3 for $10 this weekend and I 100% recommend the game. There's several times I've said out loud... Dude, this is awesome. The AI seems better here than even in modern games. It's a great game, still on 2033 though and going in sequence.
I'm currently playing Exodus and loving it so far. After I finish that, I'm seriously thinking of buying the Redux versions of 2033 and Last Light because they slipped under my radar back in the day.
@@goukigod - The main plot makes sense about living in the Metro and then looking for life above ground. It was only when the dark ones appeared at the end that made me a little confused. The first time I saw one, I thought it was a graphical glitch lol, not knowing the history behind them.
@@goukigod yes it does. Artyom Met Anna in Metro 2033 ( the game ) she was a Ranger Sniper who is sent to assist Artyom in eradicating the Dark Ones. In Exodus their relationship progresses. For the stealth aspects of the Metro series, Last Light & 2033 are a must.
@@debabrattamishra2484 you can buy the bundle which contains all 3 games + all DLCs with just 10 USD on Steam. If you can buy the PC that is capable of playing them cracked then you should have spare 10 bucks somehow
Short Answer: Yes, absolutely. Go play it now if you haven't already, and make sure you unlock all the achievements/trophies for it as well. Do the same for Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro: Exodus (and both its story expansions).
recently came across Metro Exodus on youtube again but then realised Metro 2033 and last light exist. Found the bundle on steam sale so might as well get play my way through em all! Thanks for this!
Just got all 3 games a little over a month ago and have played through all of them already. They just hooked me in and I didn't play anything else until the end. I got the Redux collection for Switch and Exodus for PS4 and played with the PS5 upgrade. Sure they could use a bit more polish, but that's easily overlooked with how good they are at world building, and the moment to moment game play.
I remember playing the redux version the last year, my father bought it the same year it came but when I asked him what's that game he said "The game is cool but there's a part that is impossible to complete so don't waste your time". Time later I found the game on my library so I decided to play it (I got the platinums of the three games) and god, I loved every aspect of the game, what is strange though is that I've never found a bug on any of the 12 times I completed the game
I just completed the game. It´s amazing! I strongly suggest playing it if you haven’t yet. I do have some complaints about AI for Human enemies,a little to easy.
I absolutely fell in love with the metro universe, got all the books and listening to metro2033 on audible when going to sleep right now 😂. I love the game, exodus not that much, and the whole universe of metro ❤
I'm playing Metro for the first time and started with Metro 2033 Redux in survival/hardcore mode with the disabled crosshair. I'm constantly swimming in AR and shotgun ammo. I can't even pick them up because I'm almost always full (yes, I play with the shotgun and AR). It breaks my immersion. I feel like the game is constantly feeding me ammo. I never have to be careful about my ammo consumption. Not to mention the unpredictable movement of mutants. They jump instantly, and it feels like part of the animation is missing. Also, I can't adjust my ADS sensitivity. I have to aim with a sensitivity that is twice as high as what I'm used to, and it feels unnatural. It also breaks the immersion. I haven't finished the game (I arrived at Polis station), but the game is still great. It will never be as good as modded Stalker, but the linear level design allows you to disable your brain, let the story carry you, and have a great experience. I'm just disappointed by the too-easy difficulty and the lack of a survival aspect
I’m a new Stan of this series. I just liked it on first play but on second I’m in love, especially reading the book alongside it. The book and game go very well together despite their slight plot differences
I like that you were honest... for me, these games are interesting. Some of my favorites of all time, but ive only played each one time. Its like playing a movie or a book. Like KotoR. Youre there for the story and atmosphere
I have never played this but I’m thinking I will play this on hardcore from the get-go. Has anyone played this difficult setting &, if so, can you let me know what you think - does it make much of a difference?
I am currently playing it and I personally die multiple times in some parts because reloading times are long and the hits come fast and hard in between. Healing is slow too. Imo this makes for a better experience. Not being challenged will get me bored because the story is intriguing but not enough to keep me playing.
@@xbulelo No problem. For the first time in my life I realized why I slowly get bored with games as time goes by. lol If you dont' die multiple times in one section, there's no sense of achievement. I certainly won't try ranger and Hardcore Ranger because I don't see myself playing it again anytime soon. But Normal won't do it if you're experienced with shooters. If not, then it's just right for the first couple ones you play.
@@ConsumeristScroffa yeah it’s the same for me, bro. I like immersion & sometimes difficulty can be a factor. For example, I’ve not played Fallout 4 but I saw a video detailing how the hardest difficulty is more immersive & the right way to play. It also detailed how this difficulty forces you to use every game mechanic (such as building bases) whereas lesser difficulties don’t require base building. Of course, there are games that are too difficult for new people. I tried Dying Light on Nightmare Mode &, in reality, that is meant for players who have levelled up their character, not for players who only have a wrench to defend themselves against hordes of zombies. It may depend on the game but, as a rule of thumb, the more difficult the game, the more immersive it probably is.
@@xbulelo Ah yes. I intend to play Dying Light soon and because I remember how difficult it was about when it came out 8 years ago that I first tried it, it's definitely Normal for me. lol It's funny cause Crash Bandicoot was the game that made me wake up to the reality of how easy games are nowadays. I played the remade version this week and it's a miracle that I didn't break my controller. But through all the pain and coping, I realized what a unique experience it offered me. I'll never forget it. It got my attention. I was 100% there. lol
Hey, when you use the night vision goggles did you activate the flashlight? They won’t use battery/ turn on till activated like a flashlight. Just a possibility as I ran into the same issue when I first played a metro game.
I played metro 2033 redux for the first time on ranger mode in survival. I never ran out of ammo when it mattered. You must sacrifice weapons at points for others and use military rounds too. I always kept a rifle and shotgun because ammo was plentiful and it gave me human and mutant fighting capabilities. Lurkers suck though
you have to press the flashlight button to turn on the night vision and also charge the battery using the handmade dynamo... or maybe it's just bugged on ps5
Late reply but in the clip he has now battery so it most certainly means that he didnt charge the personal battery. This is kind of a thing that 99% of players miss tho because it's maybe mentioned once and then almost NEVER comes up until you need it and dont remember. Literally flashlight isnt needed for like 80% of the game and you dont get the NVGs until half way through. It's just poor execution and has no reason to be in the game except to annoy you. Literal Tarkov moment tbh (as in added to make your life worse. Thank the russians).
I just finished the game, still doesnt know what are the dark ones. BTW: to use the night vision, you have to use the portative generator, in pc It's pressing F 3 seconds
I literally just beat 2033 Redux. Bought Exodus when it came out. Played it off & on but could never understand it & just gave up on it. So when I found Redux I bought it. Some questions have been answered & I actually have more. I absolutely loved 2033 but my main problem is when you're with an NPC or several NPCs it slows you down big time. I'd rather be solo the entire time. But I understand why the game is the way it is. D6 was brutal. Found out the gas mask trick & it got me through it. I'll be playing Last Light next.
Just finished it. It does have the nostalgic vibe. The review is bang on perfect. I liked the atmosphere and the locations. Best one was the Library chapter. Last light is next on list
SO I just got this Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light Redux, Metro Exodus, And the Metro Exodux Pc Enhanced Version (Forced Ray Tracing). I got the whole bundle on Steam for $12.... LOL.....Gotta love it. Anyway my whole point is I bought these games espcially the older ones with the sole intent of playing them on the Steam Deck. I've played some newer games on it but honestly I really enjoyed Bioshock 2 Remastered, Crysis 2 Maximum, etc on it. It's like 2012-2018 especially those early days are really fun on the Deck. Going back too far where controls and gameplay suck isn't good. I've found 2012 is a good place to go back to and play up from. 2014 seems to fit the deck well. I'm looking forward to playing this on it.
No idea what's going on but Metro Redux on PS4 doesn't work for me anymore. It crashes during the intro sequence; gives me a application failed error telling me to check the disc and the console just ejects it. The disc is immaculate... more or less brand new I've only played it once years ago. Anybody else have this issue?
Damnit. I’ve been seeing something similar from others in you tube videos of the redux games for ps4. I haven’t played any of the games and I want to purchase them to experience them since it’s such a beloved series.
I recently got an Xbox one X, (not series X) so I think I’ll be buying Xbox 360 games (backwards compatibility enhancements ) and Xbox one games now…starting with the Metro Redux edition!
12:49 The night vision goggles don't do nothing, you just have to charge them by holding F. I thought they did nothing at first too but I asked on the discussion page lol
When it comes to difficulty, I strongly recommend Survival -> Ranger. After playing through the other games on Ranger, I just can't play on any other difficulty. Changes the game radically.
This is just a classic game that was launched in a transitionary period of time in which the playerbase went from enthusiast to casual, and now in 2023, its almost entirely casual. The Redux version of 2033 is awful, graphically it may be impressive for its time purely on technical feats, but the actual aesthetics of the "upgraded" visuals break the design that the original vision was going for. But most importantly, the gameplay of 2033 got brutally casualized on the Redux, this game was meant to be played on PC, with Russian voices and on Ranger Hardcore difficulty, with a mouse and a keyboard. The English dub is cringe, it sounds like a cheap marvel cinematic universe + friends crossover, you did not play the real game if thats the only way you played it. When you play the original game on ranger hardcore, you're not supposed to lose the entire HUD no matter what, is just that the HUD is limited to when you watch your status, so you press tab, look at your watch and then the HUD shows up.....on the Redux version the entire animation got deleted, a lot of animations got deleted in fact, the Redux has less animations than the original game. Moreover the superior lighting on the Redux version was not properly adjusted for the assets of the original...which they directly imported and that's why you see so many "weird" looking faces, those faces were meant to be shown under an entire different lighting system. I get it though, if you're playing it on consoles, this is pretty much the only version you can play, specially on 9th gen consoles, even on PC i think the original version got removed from the steam and gog stores which is a great tragedy, but if you already paid for the game, i think its okay if you just pirate it, it's not okay to not be able to play the original version. TLDR: If you already have a semi-mediocre computer at least by 2023 standards, and you already paid for the game, just find a way to download the original 2010 game and play that on Russian dub with subs and maximum difficulty, play it with mouse and keyboard, calibrate the brightness, and just enjoy the genuinely breathtaking atmostphere of Metro, this is the best game in the trilogy, i have bought and beat them all, (bought the og and reduxes of LL, bought Exodus 2019 but still havent bought the remake for that one).
A collection set or metro 2033 redux, and metro last light redux were on sale over this past weekend for nintendo switch! Only 4.49$ idk how long the sale will be going tho. I snagged them for unser 5$ over the weeken. Deffinitly worh rhe 5$. Lol.
Just recently I finished playing Metro Exodus, and I love it. I also own Redux, had this game for over 6 or 7 years, but believe it or not, I never played it. I totally forgot about the game, until I finished playing Metro Exodus. Then decided to take a look is it even worth playing the redux in 2024, and stumbled upon this video. Great review, definitely will give the game a shot.
Nice, I look forward to your thoughts on it. I was keen to play Exodus which is why I played this first. I still haven't played it or last light. To be honest, this game kind of put me off it.
@@goukigod See, with me it was opposite. I played Metro Exodus, first, and to be honest, I enjoyed the game a lot. I think it's a great FPS and very atmospheric indeed. After completing Metro Exodus, I started looking into other games in the Metro universe. Then I realized I have a Metro redux game that was gifted to me about 6 years ago, and I just never got to it. Therefore I started looking at the videos on UA-cam, to find out if it is even worth playing it, in 2024, and stumbled upon your video. I also do own a PS5, but after some research, and with the capability of PS4 games playback, however some people, for the better experience recommend playing on the PS4 to avoid lagging, etc. Thankfully I also still own my PS4 pro. That I am planning to experience the Redux on. I definitely will comment back, after I complete the game. Once again, thank you for your video and the feedback video.
I absouletly loved this game, it had been sitting in my library for well over two years now and I just got the opputunity to play it and wow. Very unique shooter experience and I liked how the enenmys all dident triangulate your exact position based off of one gunshot.
Thanks for this the video answers a lot of my questions. Also I think you need to use a hand crank charger to power the night vision goggles bc I saw that comment somewhere else but haven’t played it myself yet. Got this game on sale a while back and with the Nuclear Winter setting and it getting colder in Chicago it seems like a great game to play before bed for its atmosphere.
@@goukigod Yea coming back after playing here and it's a hand crank charger. The game has a minimal UI to be more immersive but wish they would give you more options. They only real options are turning off UI elements in the Hardcore Ranger mode but I'm a normie so I play on normal difficulty also I want the UI on. Also the UI will flash when you get pick ups. I'm overall not a big fan of the UI. I like the immersive setting and gameplay. Never felt at lack for ammo. I got this game for like $5 or something so cheap on Switch back when I wrote that comment and also picked up Last Light for about $5 so I will get into that and with it's relatively brighter graphics and actual foliage I'm excited to see how the developers advanced and changed the gameplay. I played 2033 on Survival and am playing Last Light on Spartan.
I played Redux years ago when it first came out on PS4 and was pretty disappointed in the story, as I found it hard to follow, or care very much. Currently, I've been reading the book and listening to the audio book and, man... I'm very excited to play the game again now. The narrator for the English version of the audiobook is so good. Seriously, if you guys haven't read it and aren't even into books, I'd definitely recommend listening to the audiobook. It's so creepy and immersive. I love listening to it in the dark in bed.
Got this on the switch in a sale and it runs exactly like you’d expect, if you think that performance issues are something that will affect your gameplay I thoroughly recommend getting it on pc or at the least a different console
I’d say it’s worth it more for switch users who have less options for games like this. So I’m on board. Would love Nintendo to take a step into a higher level of gaming…I just think it would be amazing to play a Nintendo console that was the top tier system again.
what is your source that the game started development in 2005? genuinely curious, can't find any info on whether the game started development in 2005 or 2006.
Development started somewhere between 2005 and 2006. It seems to vary between sources. www.4a-games.com.mt/4a-dna/2020/11/17/metro-10th-anniversary-studio-update www.technewstoday.com/metro-games-in-order/
I bought the entire trilogy almost 2 years ago, just got around playing this one and I like it. I did play on hard-core cuz someone recommended it. Personally I like it. If I could explain it it's a mix of stalker/tarkov ish gameplay mixed with cod,RE7 and fallout ideas. I also played on ps5 and was completely qmazed by some of the graphics. Ik it's a remastere essentially but still. Compared to the new it its way better.
Didn't notice that you are also the one who made the Arctis Nova 5 review i watched recently.. anyways i am torn which one to get between mass effect LE or the whole metro series..
if sinple player shooter does sound good to you, you simply have to try this. Every shooter catters to multiplayer these days, and I miss the days when half-life and starbreeze tapped on the potential of these games to tell stories. Own all games different versions on PC.
The Old games are on sale right now on PlayStation Store. Very good prices! Metro Redux $5.99 which I think it's a bundle of the first two games? If not the two games are also on sale for: Metro Redux 2033 $2.99 Metro Redux Last Light $4.99
@@michaelrodriguez5080 Old thread I know, but I do recommend playing the old ones first. Simply for completeness and continuity. Also I think exodus loses a bit of the charm of the older ones. I think Metro last light is the best, so I maybe recommend starting with that one.
I got the games back when they remastered and I fell in love at first but left it out to dry smh. I have 2 of the 3 and am gonna have to actually play through my problem is I’m a completionist and hate goin through chapters again for the collectibles
Also regarding the night vision, did you ever figure out that you have to charge them up? Lol I thought it was bugged too, but later after searching Google I found out the game didn't explain how to use the damn things.
Yeah, a few people have alerted me to this. Not sure if it was a deliberate design choice to obfuscate this, just bad design, me being stupid or some combination of the three.
Had to watch a review. I just bought the 3 game package. Needed something new to play. So I’m gonna give the trilogy a go. Just a funny update: I’m in the beginning of the game, and I just came across this guy. And my first thought was “there’s no human with a defined jaw like this”. This guys chin rivals the dad from American dad. 😂 my god, they really botched this npc.
Playing in first time in 2024 old school gamer and I'm enjoying it I will play all of them over the next few weeks it's clunky and you can't see your feet but shit I'm vibing the world and concept and this is a good pick up for the older casual gamer pick up put down type every few says solid review
Metro 2033 and last light our two of my favorite games but the litany of technical issues, bad dialogue, and annoying gameplay elements hold it back. I absolutely love the story and it does atmosphere better than any other game I've ever played before. If I were king of the world and ordered a remake of the game I would make the following changes: Voiced protagonist Better voice actors Fix the dialogue pacing. Sometimes characters will just start to talk over each other and the lines are clearly meant to be said one after the other or there are weird three to five second pauses in between voice lines. Make the stealth system a little bit more lenient, instead of every enemy within a 500 m radius knowing exactly where you are if you stick your baby toe out of cover for one second. If I could just boil it down the game feels like it's in permanent late stage beta where it's 2 months away from being released.
Early in 2033 theres an infinite spawn section of the watchmen the dog things I think that's what they're called. I was so frustrated wasting my ammo didnt realise the will always keep coming
Just installed the Metro saga as it was on sale. I must say your review is very fair. I Think this games direction is just masterfull, since it never feels like you are in a corridor and the progression seems very natural, when in fact it is one the most linear games ever made. However I've had some jank and even game breaking bugs involving the night vision, where it would automaticaly deploy it in a turret section, making it unbeatable because it was bright , so I would not be able to take the NVG off and could only see white noise in the turret so I would die reatedly. Its one of my favorite games ever, but its got many flaws. I've actualy played the original on Xbox 360 and it was very good looking for the time but very janky.
@@goukigod Exodus is a much better game than 2033 so much so you cant even compare them. The only thing 2033 does better is the atmosphere. But Exodus has a much better story imo.

I had a similar issue in that section and just had to run through it. I did have a flashlight though. You could always restart a previous chapter and conserve your flashlight. Or try using the lighter to light your way.
@@goukigod Yeah I don’t know how to load a previous save point or a previous checkpoint it will only take me to the last one and I have no clue where to go the lighter doesn’t really help and as soon as you try to move fast with the lighter it goes out you can’t see him I have no ammo I have two grenades and that is it the issue is my flashlight will not charge and it doesn’t matter what checkpoint I start it the flashlight never works so I don’t know how toGet around this issue it doesn’t make any sense for the game to be this old and is still having a bug where you cannot charge your light you need a light in this game or it is pointless
As cheesy as the English dub is, I do appreciate the fact that the voice actors clearly don't speak English as their first language. Seems simple but it could have been dubbed by the same voice actors in all western games but considering the setting, if cheese was the price for authenticity, it was worth it.
When the game is made badly, it is not because the production team is bad. They no longer have any ideas for making games. You have to wait until the new game is made.

I would describe is as a "Simulation PC Shooter".
Along the lines of *F.E.A.R.* , *Chronicles Of Riddick* , and *"Crysis"*
These types of games are meant to be played on their hardest difficulty, or whichever difficulty is hardest for you.
Very sum it up
I personally played the redux version very recently and was blown away by the fact this was made almost a decade and still held up decently against fps shooters produced today, great review btw
It's metro 2033 the same as redux or is it a sequel
I just got it on sale a week ago, I played it on the 360 before but it looks good on the oled
with remasters every 10 years i can see this series being imortal, its also amazing how changing difficulty from normal to hardest changes genre of game completely
How do you mean - it becomes more terrifying? I haven’t played it yet but I have it in my library. I’ll play them anyway - just to catch up.
@@xbulelokinda, you feel more immersed and it feel more realistic since time to kill is shorter there is no hud, stealth is harder, less bulets etc..
its not that difficult, but most likely you will spend more time exploring world to find ammo and stashes
@@Mitke420 class - thanks bro. I’ll be playing it soon for sure ❤️
I think this is a fair review and it gets right to the point. If consoles and gaming services are going to sell the game, then there will be people who want to know if their money is going to be well-spent. This is often how you run across the gems in gaming. Stuff that was overlooked or bombed for some reason.
Thanks!
With 2033 I think it mostly works.
stealth is the primary focus of the game, you can stealth most monsters too
How
@@virkdoeswrksearch it on google bruh
I ended up realizing you have to recharge them just like your flashlight a few missions later
I'm not usually someone who plays FPS or survival horror, but I did enjoy this game and plan to play the sequels
I personally never thought that a video game that's not American or Japanese could be so much fun. Metro games are a pleasure to play.
I grabbed all 3 for $10 this weekend and I 100% recommend the game. There's several times I've said out loud... Dude, this is awesome. The AI seems better here than even in modern games. It's a great game, still on 2033 though and going in sequence.
Just bought them in the sale to.
I'm currently playing Exodus and loving it so far. After I finish that, I'm seriously thinking of buying the Redux versions of 2033 and Last Light because they slipped under my radar back in the day.
Does the story make sense in exodus having not played the earlier games?
@@goukigod - The main plot makes sense about living in the Metro and then looking for life above ground. It was only when the dark ones appeared at the end that made me a little confused. The first time I saw one, I thought it was a graphical glitch lol, not knowing the history behind them.
@@goukigod yes it does. Artyom Met Anna in Metro 2033 ( the game ) she was a Ranger Sniper who is sent to assist Artyom in eradicating the Dark Ones. In Exodus their relationship progresses. For the stealth aspects of the Metro series, Last Light & 2033 are a must.
Man if I was rich I would have purchased the game instead of playing it cracked
@@debabrattamishra2484 you can buy the bundle which contains all 3 games + all DLCs with just 10 USD on Steam. If you can buy the PC that is capable of playing them cracked then you should have spare 10 bucks somehow
Short Answer: Yes, absolutely. Go play it now if you haven't already, and make sure you unlock all the achievements/trophies for it as well.
Do the same for Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro: Exodus (and both its story expansions).
I’ve been owning this game for so long I just started it last night I cant believe I was missing out on this
recently came across Metro Exodus on youtube again but then realised Metro 2033 and last light exist. Found the bundle on steam sale so might as well get play my way through em all! Thanks for this!
I'd like to play Exodus but I don't really have interest in playing last light.
@@goukigod why not last light?
I didn't love 2033 so the desire to play more of the same is low.
@@goukigod i see! So there's a very noticeable difference from those two to the newest. The newest looks amazing.
@@BlueSaturnn The premise seems much more interesting and yeah, the visuals are a huge draw too.
When I'm first starting playing Metro I was blowing away and I played it a lot lol
Metro is the future of 1st person campaigns. Sam's Story shows how much potential this story has. I can see it taking place in New York City.
I think the structure is great and the concept of providing lots of different activities throughout is really interesting.
@@ConsumeristScroffa Hardcore it is then, bro. Thanks very much for responding ♥️
I intend to play Dying Light soon and because I remember how difficult it was about when it came out 8 years ago that I first tried it, it's definitely Normal for me. lol
It's funny cause Crash Bandicoot was the game that made me wake up to the reality of how easy games are nowadays.

I never played any of the games but looking into them. They're sending more and more interesting. I'm actually considering getting all of them.
Just finished it. It does have the nostalgic vibe. The review is bang on perfect. I liked the atmosphere and the locations. Best one was the Library chapter. Last light is next on list
Thanks!
I got the bundle too and really enjoying it on the deck.Super games!
So I shouldn't buy it then?
@@Guy-mx4fb Honestly I'm not sure. Try and get it cheap so that if it doesn't run then its no real loss.
I can't comment because the version I have is digital. There's bugs but nothing like that.
Well played it first time in 2033 and amazed but off the hobby since 2008 so any good game from 2010-2020 is new to me.
Old
@@crazygamingyt7245 You know, old is gold
Definitely worth playing, I recently started a Hardcore playthrough and am having the time of my life
Thanks for this the video answers a lot of my questions.
Totally could be the issue
So flawlessly then 😅
@@goukigod that depends entirely on your definition of flawlessly 😂
I've just finished it. It's still looking good
I got this as a free claim. But its way too hard for me. I am terrible with stealth games. I do better with the run and gun action packed shooters.
I’d say it’s worth it more for switch users who have less options for games like this. So I’m on board. Would love Nintendo to take a step into a higher level of gaming…I just think it would be amazing to play a Nintendo console that was the top tier system again.
just one thing
the night vision goggles needs to be recharged and they will work.
i hate to be the one that mentions this but, you have to charge your battery to use the night vision. otherwise they dont do anything

I am just about to buy it in an hour for the switch. Or maybe dying light... So thanks for that review
in short: does it hold up? yes.
Top 10 video games ever made imo.
Is it like fallout?
Metro 2033 and last light our two of my favorite games but the litany of technical issues, bad dialogue, and annoying gameplay elements hold it back. I absolutely love the story and it does atmosphere better than any other game I've ever played before. If I were king of the world and ordered a remake of the game I would make the following changes:
Voiced protagonist
Better voice actors
Fix the dialogue pacing.
That's a pretty good summary of the state of 2033.
One of the best game series for me.
playing on Spartan mode is the best way
For me this game was very frustrating in parts so I sold it on without finishing it.
I understand
Thanks. I can see how in spite of its flaws how it might hit hard for some. Even though I didn't love it, I'm still tempted to play Exodus
@@goukigod Exodus is a much better game than 2033 so much so you cant even compare them. The only thing 2033 does better is the atmosphere. But Exodus has a much better story imo.
played both, i like the 2033, the sequel last light is nice, but the story feels shorter, i guess that's why they sell DLCs
i gotta say game is great but I’m stuck in a place with no ammo & like 20 of these grasshopper/scorpion looking things 🤬 I’ve tryed to look around but it ain’t much of nothing , plus Almost impossible with all of those little scorpion looking things I don’t get it I’ve been trying for like six hours now to get past this area in another thing is for some reason my flashlight won’t charge when I hold L one in press over on the D pad to the left it will not bring up the charger at all the little electric sign just flashes red so that’s another thing I can’t see so pretty much the game is over for me & I’m pissed 🤬 you know sometimes you run low on ammo and stuff that’s just part of this game but the fact that I can’t see on top of that to be able to move fast to get away from stuff that’s really what has me angry because there’s a glitch somehow now I can’t complete the game very disappointing so to me that this game is maybe 4/10 just because I can’t complete the game because of a glitch with the flashlight I’m sorry with the charger any suggestions ?
You don’t need ammo with the spiders. They die with light. You don’t need to fire a shot
@@Spartansareawesome11 interesting!
As cheesy as the English dub is, I do appreciate the fact that the voice actors clearly don't speak English as their first language. Seems simple but it could have been dubbed by the same voice actors in all western games but considering the setting, if cheese was the price for authenticity, it was worth it.
Most were although believe it or not captain krasnov is american
Soft locked myself out of Last Light on the lobster boss because I ran out of ammo on ranger hardcore :(
Did you ever make it passed?
@@LeinaVance No I had to restart the entire chapter and gave up and when revisiting skipped it because I had already completed the game previously
It was not worth listening to my brother getting pissed off and angry at a mission in this game
Ha, which mission?
Trying to play on switch but the resolution is just so low and the controls not the best struggling to really enjoy it think I'll get on pc got 3060ti
You need to charge night vision goggles to use them.
I got the platinum for metro: exodus and I was thinking of going for the platinum on the trilogy, wich i'm after this video certainly going to do
How did you enjoy exodus?
@@goukigod It's a great game, I had to get into it tho, I bought it in 2021 and only got the platinum in 2023 bc of how my taste in games shifted
you need to charge night goggles to make it work
Does redux include last light??
There is a package called Metro: Redux that contains both games. You can also buy them separately: Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux
the Metro franchise is Fallout without the Bethesda hubris.
It’s $4 cdn. Kind of a no brainer at that price.
Love the game, but the sensitivity was extremely slow when at max setting
Uhm fck yeah it is still my favorite series of games and have great replay ability
Without watching the video yes is the answer. Do 2 playthroughs one with a hud then ranger hardcore with no hud 👍
and after watching the video?
It's $2.99 right now. Should I buy?
Kind of hard to say no at that price. Even if you don't finish it, $3 ain't much
I played it on survival hardcore and didnt run out of ammo
Short answer: yes

When the game is made badly, it is not because the production team is bad. They no longer have any ideas for making games. You have to wait until the new game is made.
