    • @catherine9516

@@meedwards5 It’s not that expensive if you’re moving from someone place like a Seattle or California. We’ve got a housing boom going up on so prices on houses of increased greatly. I’m using voice to text. I live in Missoula. If you want to rent a house or apartment it’s very difficult we don’t have enough rental units. There’s no sales tax here which helps a lot. If you don’t like snow and cold winter weather in the winter I would that would be a consideration for you. I don’t mind the snow at all, and the climate is semi arid here in Missoula in western Montana, so it’s a dry cold it’s not a damp Ness like you get in Seattle. I like the weather here much better than Seattle. There’s a lot more sun. For me is very affordable. But lately with inflation in the Covid supply chain problems prices have gone up on food, and other things. Having said all that, Montana is incredibly beautiful. Tons of hiking trails, nice parks, one of the downsides is people from Montana are kind of stuck in the past and I’ve encountered a lot of sexism that I never have encountered anywhere else. Just blatant sexism. But there’s ways to get around that. I bike and take the bus, so I probably am exposed to more stuff than most people. But the mountains in the air in the relatively low crime rate are awesome. And there are people from all over the country here so you’re not just stuck with the pretty ignorant Montanans. Probably has to do with being isolated and not a very good educational system. But then again there are people from all over the place which makes it livable

  • @caegbert1

Living in Billings is accurate, I rarely have seen rude people minus a few, most people are extremely nice, there are amazing parks, schools at least in the area I am, are supportive of all. It’s not too busy in most places either, minus Wendy’s really, it has amazing sights too. There’s two areas to live, west end and the heights. The heights has a lot planned, houses are being built faster, night sightseeing and more! The west end ha more trees but you get a better view of the mountains. Hope these also helped convince anyone. :)

Helena is pronounced (Hel - eh- na) not (Hel - ee - na). Also great advice in the end. I currently live in Butte America. People here are generally friendly and laid back. folks here tend to be more conservatives. however, as long as you are respectful and polite, they are very welcoming. There are plenty of outdoor rec., good mom and pop restaurants and the oldest family own and operated Chinese Restaurant in the USA. An unsung rule here in Butte, once you have settled and folks get to know you better, is that you don't buy your own beers you buy someone else beer. this happens vice versa, as I often find one of my friends has a beer ready for me. This is more common among older generations.

We also have public hangings on Main Street, long as someone doesn’t get them with a bow and arrow first. Also, kids in there freshman year of high school get to prove they’re a man by taking an elk antler to the weiness, if you can survive a gaping hole like that in that spot, then you are a man.

Why would you take travel advice or moving advice from a person who can’t even pronounce the names of cities in the state correctly. By the way, unless you have a huge bank account, you won’t be able to afford property or a house hear, as all the people who moved here during Covid scares drove the property prices out of the reach of middle class families, and rentals are hard to find. If you are thinking about moving from a state with left leaning politics, and want to transform Montana into that place you just left, the citizens will tell, not ask you to go the F#@% home. If you get seasonal depression from grey skies and cold, there isn’t enough meds to save your happiness, it’s 5-6 months of winter like temps and grey. If you don’t like seeing people carry guns in plain sight, or are anti hunting, you will be continually offended, and the residents won’t care that you are. If you like the outdoor, be prepared for drastic weather changes, and areas of no cell service. If the thought of bears scare you, you will need to buy adult diapers. If you are a mask nazi, people don’t care if you want to wear one, but don’t expect anyone to wear one to make you feel safe. If you expect anyone to change to accommodate you, they won’t, and you will be very unwelcome if you try to push it. It’s not like home unless maybe you are from Alaska, Wyoming or Idaho. Just so you are fairly warned. It’s different out here
