Fun fact this was the first Tour that incorporated the light up bracelets that the fans wear. Taylor requested this feature in order to better see her fans. Almost all artist do this do this now for their concerts. 😊
Welcome To New York was written as she moved there before that era. This album was a huge shift in her career. In her previous 4 albums, she did mostly country and rock. 1989 was her entering into full pop. Not only did she change genres but where she lived! I feel like that's why she cut her hair short, it was a big life change for her.
So "Welcome to New York" was about her moving to NYC and finding a place that is free. Talking about equality and acceptance. Definitely a great anthem!
So happy to see you react to the 1989 tour! Indeed, this album was influenced by the '80s sound, and it was her first purely pop album (her previous albums had been country or country rock/pop). The New York references have a couple of inspirations. When she wrote the album, she had just moved to NY (well, bought a house there, in addition to her other houses in Nashville, LA, RI, etc.) and was living there more or less full-time. She was a young adult woman ready to make the big move to the big city, and she admits she was mezmerized by the big city lifestyle. Also at that time, she had been criticized in the media for "dating too much" and writing too many break-up songs, so she decided not to date for a while and to focus on having fun with her friends, so this album has more of those types of songs. Of course, then the media criticized her for posting too many selfies with her "model friends", so she cut back on that as well. Now she has fortunately grown into the stage in her life where "I've stopped focusing on doing what they say I can't do, and focusing on doing whatever the hell I want."
I was at this exact concert in Sydney (she only does one show here) and can confirm the SYD NEY blank space was a cultural reset for us Aussie swifties 😂
Once again I really love your energy when doing your content, you seem like the kind of guy that would make an amazing concert companion. I missed the Reputation tour since Taylor didn't play any dates in continental Europe but I managed to catch the 1989 tour in Cologned, Germany and it was one of the best concerts I've seen. She always give 200% of herself and the fans go crazy as you saw with the signs.
Hi, Jason! Taylor moved to NY in 2014, and she got inspiration from that. She has other houses, but she still lives there. 1989 was her first all-pop album and was very successful. Thank you for your reaction 😊
Taylor has never done paid meet and greets ..her mom and people on her team go through the stadium and find fans with signs and costumes and give them the meet and greet passes for after the show ..so fans will go all out with their outfits ect to try and get picked to meet Taylor ❤
She moved to NYC as her main residence during this era, instead of Nashville or LA. I think the NY move is also symbolic of her move fully to into pop and away from country!
She moved from Nashville to New York in late 2013 to 2014 and started transitioning to full Pop, changing her look. Welcome to New York is the first track of 1989 and it was a good track to explain to her fans where she is in life, her views and lifestyle.
Taylor is originally from Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville in her early teens to break into Country music. She has been living in NYC since the early 2010s
She had like 50 guest this tour singer and sometimes just actor or female football team just walking, in reputations she had less its was like 15 guest

Hey thanks Joni! I appreciate you!
I love that, no matter how many years Taylor has been performing, she still introduces herself as if nobody knows who she is

Taylor moved to New York on her own around 2014. She said she was inspired by the possibilities of living there. 😊

Taylor is originally from Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville in her early teens to break into Country music. She has been living in NYC since the early 2010s
Thanks Katie!!
I believe Taylor has 2 homes/penthouses in New York, also, California, Tenn, and Rhode Island (although I recently read that she sold it).
It’s because she moved to New York. Made her first pop album. Ventured out

Welcome to New York is just her celebrating moving to New York for the first time

Great reaction. Are you really enjoying her? It looks like you are.
I always wanted to see what all the hype was about! She seems very interactive with her fans ! She has a few beautiful songs!
This tour is so good but not the editing. Like I know there are hundreds of cameras, but they don't have to cut it every millisecond. 💀
😂
So true. I HATE the editing. So thankful that the Reputation Tour video is just awesome.
She had like 50 guest this tour singer and sometimes just actor or female football team just walking, in reputations she had less its was like 15 guest
Crazy!
It was all dudes because people were like, you are dating too much and you are a player and she said bet! Watch all these men dance to my tunes
Got it!👌🏽
She lives in NY
