Just bought a 999 .. never even ridden one.. the sound alone .. I have always wanted one.. just hope I can ride it as my first twin.. I had 12 jap bikes..
Congrats! You will love it. I now own a '04 999s and '18 R1M and take them both to track days and switch off and on during the day. I love the challenge of a fully assisted bike vs the analog.
Thank you ! No, i haven't yet. I'm due 2morrow for a service visit and see what i bought, and in what condition it's in. I got it on monday, done 80 mph around town, on tuesday, my second day riding a motorcycle, ever, had a few near death experiences :))) but i'm good. I've read and watched a lot of things about Ducs and getting the hang of it. I've searched today, and it seems bleeding the clutch will solve a lot of issues. I was hoping to raise the idle rpm, i noticed it does shift smoother .
So happy for you I know how you feel my 749s was my 1st Ducati bike and now I own a 1199s panigale I still have the 749s I also wanted to share a fb group for you to help you get to know more about your bike through other 749/999 owners facebook.com/groups/ducati999/
I'm hoping one day to maybe get a Panigale, it's fantastic that it's white ! My 749 is in the shop at the moment for a bit of TLC (clutch plates, oil, etc etc....etc aaaand etc) and hopefully i'll get it back soon. Since you mentioned the Panigale took a close look at one in the showroom, sat on it. WOW indeed !
HI. Sorry I'm a frenchi... sorry for my English. Nice bike Nice road nice noise... I take my 749 in 15 day... I'm looking all the vidéos of this bike...I 'm falling in lovewith her... lol Have a max of fun. And enjoy . See you later maybe✌.
david fabien Thanks for watching. I also love the sound of the Ducati 749s with the G.P.R. deep tone slip on exhaust. And I understood your English/comment no need to apologize ;) glad you enjoyed it. I will be adding more videos. Congratulations on your 749.
Is there an issue with difficulty getting the bike to tick over without stalling ? am looking at one at the moment a 2003 also , heard they can be temperamental , but I am falling in love with it
You don't seem to have that takakakakakakkakak noise at idle. I'm just trying to buy one these weeks, seen a couple but all made that loud sound. Spoke too soon, yes, you have also. I'm trying to figure out if it's normal. I\ve read it's the clutch plates banging on one another.
The sound is normal it is the plates hitting against the clutch basket. It is only loud cause I replaced the clutch cover with a vented one so its an open clutch and its louder. I did it to reduce heat and allow the clutch dust to vent out. Good luck on your search these are great bikes.
Hey Jose L. Sanchez, I am just curious, did the clutch heat ever become an issue before you swapped the cover to an open one? I am considering getting a 749 and actually like the closed clutch covers to not let in dust and rain etc, but if clutch heat causes long term problems I'd def. get an open cover too. What are your thoughts? By the way, your bike is gorgeous. The paint is so deep and rich in color, as if Ducati mixed actual red wine into the paint! Greetings from Denmark
Hi Martyn no it was not my first bike but it is my first Ducati I am 55 yrs old now and my 1st bike when I was 15 was a Honda CB350 twin lol then I got a 1976 Kawasaki Z1B900 then a 1984 Yamaha FJ1100 If you are looking to own your first bike the 749 is a good one to start off with if you can handle the aggressive seating position. I use it for track day's only now. I also own a 2012 Ducati 1199s panigale now both I run on track day's.
Jose L. Sanchez thanks for the reply, hopefully will have one in a few weeks however they are. Hard to find in good condition iv been looking in the USA and willing to ship over to Scotland if I find 1
+T2000SVT The clacky sound that you hear is the dry clutch, I have a vented clutch and so you can hear the clutch disc's hitting against the clutch basket. That is normal.
Sounds lovely with them slip ons. Do you have db killers removed. Ive got mivv titaium slip ons on my 749 but with db killers removed its too loud for road use
greggan100 Thanks, I did install the db killers at first when I installed the slipons but it lacked the deeptone that I was looking for so I removed them.
Hi, do you wheelie your 749? I'd really like to know some pointers, with respect to gear, and torque. IF you wheelie yours (some people just don't, it's not a problem) can you let me know what rpm and gear you use? thanks in advance
I don't intentionally wheelie the 749s and when I do its on the track since I only ride it on track day's. Most cases on the track when I do have the front end get off the ground I am near the red line of the tach. sorry if its not much help.
10nx, i'm cracking the throttle open and hitting the rev limiter like crazy....and..nothing happens. Mine is the dark version, so it could be a bit underpowered.
could be under powered but not much the base model has 108hp the S model has 110hp but if you change your rear sprocket by adding a couple more teeth it will have more torque but you lose top end speed.
The noise seemed so weird. Now, from under me, i'm sold. I have a few issues with it...but hopefully it won't be too serious. Firstly, it doesn't shift into first easily, you have to whack it into first, or at least rev it and shift in first on rev
P.S. I'm taking it easy from now on. There's a lot of idiot cagers driving around, 95% it's not the rider's fault. I'm also driving an SUV, now i know what it's like on both sides.
I have same ducati 749....now its 2023 iam seeing this video❤️❤️
Happy New Year 2023! Thanks for watching.
Made me miss my old Duc

Hi I have never had any issue with my 749s stalling but if you have one that does I have read to get it tuned. Yes this bike is so sexy

Was the 749 your first bike? I'm looking to get one for my first

i love the dog ;-)
Lol thanks, we love him lots to. I have four of them he is the youngest of the house and they are American Bulldog. his name is Bruno.
is it supposed to be so "clacky" at idle?
+T2000SVT The clacky sound that you hear is the dry clutch, I have a vented clutch and so you can hear the clutch disc's hitting against the clutch basket. That is normal.
Yup sounds fantastic
