    I wish I had made video reports when I did my internship 6 years ago! Now I'm making videos of my experience looking back on it ..! Good job with the vids !

    Congrats man! im currently looking for Dev work here in NZ too having completed my Degree in July ive found that it may take a little while :/ any tips for finding work?!

      I finished my degree in July as well! Key advice: Be persistent but not intrusive. Be proactive. I wouldn't have gotten my internship if I hadn't been proactive. Work on projects on your spare time, don't be ambitious, start small and build on that. Attend hackfests if you can, not only will you learn a lot but it's a great talking point in interviews. Make sure that your CV is up to scratch, no spelling mistakes, concise and to the point. Also networking is massively important. A lot of people you went to uni with will end up at companies who may have openings. The difference between someone internally referring you and ending up as CV#100 on the stack of applicants can make a big difference.

    Nice man, soak up as much as you can while you're there, get to know people who can help you grow in your career. Agile uptake is pretty big in the industry, at least here in Auckland, people have mixed feelings about it, implemented well it is great. It's been used at previous companies I've worked for and I'm coaching it where I work now.

      From what i've heard at work, there are a number of companies that tick a few boxes and convince themselves they're agile, when they're really not. I find the whole thing really fascinating, and one of the reasons i'm really excited about Healthlink, they're taking agile very seriously and doing everything they can to move the company in that direction. Also CI/CD, that's pretty dope too :P

      Nanda Panda Tech Pretty much, its easy to get caught up in the process and the rituals thinking "we are doing this, this and this and we have people with these titles therefore we are Agile" while completely missing the point of what you set out to achieve with it in the first place :D

      As an agile coach, do you think you'd be able to distill down the core concepts of agile for me? Please :)

    • @CoMa_NZ
      @CoMa_NZ 7 років тому

      Nanda Panda Tech The main spirit of it springs from the 4 core values as listed in the Agile Manifesto:
      Individuals and interactions over processes and tools.
      Working software over comprehensive documentation.
      Customer collaboration over contract negotiation.
      Responding to change over following a plan.
      Whatever your flavour of Agile is, whether it is Scrum, Kanban, some hybrid approach or something else, it should be done with these in mind. Some organisations use prescribed Agile frameworks, for instance, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) which map everything out while others develop their own approach (usually after discovering a set framework isn't necessarily right for them). Commonly you'll find a crossfunctional team working collaboratively in an iterative manner that should strive for continuous improvement. Often companies will try flatten out their structure to promote Agile adoption as well.Ideally it should be very fluid but in practice, as with many things it isn't easily achieved. Strictly speaking my background wasnt in coaching, I was in systems and then moved into QA. There is a heap of stuff online you can pretty much pick what you want to read :)
