- 3rd time lucky! I had an amazing trip, and thank everyone for the advice and encouragement on my last 2 videos.
So much happened, and I enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. It's been a few weeks since I returned and I had a few niggling sore points, but mostly back to normal.

I just watched your video and really loved it. Solo hiking and wild camping is beyond me, but I am planning the WHW in September ( hopefully no midges) to celebrate my 80 birthday a few weeks later. I have hiked a lot but never in Scotland and I can’t wait to experience the stunning scenery. Accommodation booked and new walking boots being broken in as I type.
Thank you so much for this lovely set of pitfalls, mishaps and eventual success. It's always refreshing to see someone give a realistic view of a trail which many folk underestimate. I've never had the same experience twice and you obviously have a few tales to tell now. I hope you return to Scotland to give our many other trails a go. There is so much adventure to be had and you're a veteran now. You'll be back to the WHW I'm sure. It's addictive. 😉
Having done the west highland way 4 times light pack and and walking slowly has worked for me and no blisters I’ve seen really fit guys crying in pain because they have walked to many miles in one day tortoise and the hare 7days is perfect 🏴👍
Glad you finally made it…and nice to see wee Tom’s bench being put to good use on Day 2! (He was my old boss & died about 20 years ago- I didn’t know the memorial bench was there till I came across it while doing the WHW a couple of years back)
Congratulation completing the West Highland Way. We spoke in the café at Tyndrum on your second attempt I did feel for your mum. Best wishes I’m doing it again next year starting the 1st of May this time with my wife.

Well done, you finally did it, I followed you on the two previous attempts, and I was rooting for you, I also failed last June I had problems with my backpack, I intend to try to do it again at the beginning of March, let's see how I get on with this Thank you again for sharing your experience with us great video

You have me thinking of doing it again, did in 1992 when campsites were a bit scarce along the way and carried huge rucksacks and tent, so with my better gear it should be easier although im 30 year older,😁. Well done for completing it after 2 previous attempts.
I watched all three in a row, really felt for you, and was rooting for you to complete the trail....hence the binge watching.😂 Your Mum's amazing, and I loved the hip flask, odd swig of Gordon's and unashamed glass of red. I was so sorry to hear about your Dad though. I'm planning to do the WHW in just over a month's time, and you've made it a bit more tangible and human. X

I've only just started my research into planning the WHW, and have found your narrative style to be so comforting and down-to-earth. I don't know if I feel ready to or motivated to wild camp but you're stories (I watched the first two already) have been inspiring. Thank you!

I did it last July. It was amazing. Rained everyday but that only added to the ambiance. Live life fearlessly.

Many congratulations on completing the trail. The Dales Way and the Great Glen way are 2 good trails to attempt. Ive done both of them and they are good walks, easier that WHW. Ive enjoyed your videos and look forward to your next adventure. Thanks for sharing
Really lovely video, thankyou. You are so softly spoken, this is a very pleasant video diary. I watched your fail videos probably around the time you were filming this one, so I'm happy to see that you made it third time lucky. I'm dragging a sizeable group up the trail in late April and I just pray that we get weather like you did, otherwise they will bury me on Rannoch Moor I think. I guess there are worse places to die!

Question: does the high trail and the low trail meet up at some point? On your video you mentioned taking the high trail this time but seem to be on the same path (13.29 on video) as your first attempt. Just curious as I will be hiking the west highland way in the spring. Thanks!
Yes! If I remember correctly, the trail splits for around 5 miles and joins up near Ptarmigan Lodge - hope that helps, and all the best with your walk!
