I've had over 30 bikes and currently own 6, from a ninja 400 to the current rocket 3 GT . Trust me, this is 100% a motorcycle with the advantages (automatic, with manual mode where you can change gears yourself, comfort and storage) of a maxi scooter. The most versatile bike ever.

Took delivery od my Special Edition (#36 of 56) X-ADV 750 last week. Done 300 miles thus far, what a hoot. Honda have done something magical with this scoot/bike/adventure. Loving it.
    I took the pegs OFF.

Filtering is allowed in the UK where I live. However, chatting with some traffic Police they suggested that when the traffic you are filtering through gets to around 20 to 25MPH then it stops being filtering and turns into overtaking and different rules / laws apply.

    • @andrewgent9334
      @andrewgent9334 2 роки тому +4

We got told 30mph, after that you are 'making good progress' and to be honest, filtering at faster speeds you really deserve whatever happens.

Great bike and love your reviews!
Love mine... never regret it due to its practicality and storage. I fit it with original side panniers.. walla...more storage for all my adventure needs! However it is very pricy indeed!
After using for nearly 1 year, I got the same key detection loss very often. Yes it is very irritating but able to ignore it by pressing any of the control button each time!
My Klim Kurios Pro adventure helmet can fit under the seat although having a Cardo packtalk slim attached! No issue! However it might not fit will a bulky bluetooth set.
DCT is awesome yet you can up or down shift anytime during the ride without changing to manual mode. This is very useful especially engaging tight corners and you want immediate engine braking.
Pickup and braking is very good. Safe for overtaking and hardbraking when needed!
I received a recall from Honda to change the handlelock system and it will take 2 days to fix that!
Other than that, this is a lovely bike but a heavy one for me especially when reverse pushing it.
You are right, you will either love or hate the look of the bike. Ride it first and you will fall in love with it!

Just ordered my 2nd Xadvç When you said you'll be also talking about the negatives, knowing there is no negatives, I was getting my fingers ready to type away a long paragraph why I disagree with you. However hearing the negatives you had to say, I totally agree. Especially with an adv bike selling the adv footpegs for a price. It's now also decided to do that for the handlebars!!! The stock handlebars are skinny and you have to get the covering parts from the accessories magazine. Shame on Honda on these points. BUT on all other 98% of the factors, this is the best bike I've ridden in the last 25-30 years and will continue this way for a long time if not forever.

Enjoyed your review of the best powered 2 wheel vehicle ever made. First my Arai Tour X4 fits under the seat. Your keyfob, same pocket as your mobile? I took the pegs off as they bumped into my legs when I was walking it backwards. It's designed to handle gravel roads, or potholed UK roads. Which it does superbly. Oh and you forgot the completely encased chain. I'm wondering why that wasn't on every bike I've ever owned.

Always liked the XADV but not taken the plunge yet and keep with my bigger adventure bike. As to its off road you’re spot on in the right hands could be more capable. In 2019 Renato Zocchi won the class 2 (601cc-950cc) on the Gibraltar rally, a Trans-European off-road adventure rally beating KTM Husquqrvenas etc. I’m sure that would have been a modified XADV and Zocchi is a Dakar Rally veteran.

I guess there are motorcycles that look like adventure bikes, but in reality they're not - s1000xr etc, so why not a scooter ? The s1000xr gives the comfortable riding position to the s1000 platform, the scooter is already comfortable, so it's purely a styling exercise - after all you can take any motorcycle or scooter down a gravel road !

"if traffic is moving at least 20 mph below the speed limit you can ride a motorcycle 10mph faster than traffic on the white lines". So if traffic is stopped for example you can split lanes at no more than 10mph. The aforementioned definition I was told to me by a California Highway Patrol Officer. Not sure if its the "official rule" or just a guideline. But it seems to encompass most scenarios regarding lane splitting. I had a 2018 XADV and loved it. Now I have the new Honda NT1100 DCT. Great motorcycle. Hondas parallel twins coupled with DCT are truly extraordinary. I'm hooked. DCT being exclusive to Honda means my purchase choices will come from their catalog. The NT1100 should fulfill my needs for a considerable time. By the way I ordered a new XADV over 1 year ago and they still can't deliver. Supply chain woes.

I like it, but it's quite pricey. You can get a slightly used NT1100 DCT for almost the same price.

I like the size of the adv350 but the larger wheel did. Of the 750. Will the 750 wheels fit onto the 350 ?? Anyone know ?

This is an interesting potential option for me.
In September 2018 I bought a brand new Tmax 530 DX for about 1.4 million yen.
That's about the same price this bike is in Japan now (March 2023).
I moved to the Tmax as I have joint pain in my left hand on a manual bike, but the bike I swapped for the Tmax (2013 V-Strom 650 also bought new in 2013) was a far, far superior machine.
I will refrain from moaning about the Tmax, which has never pleased me in the slightest. I dislike so much for only two reasons, but they are significant to me.
    1. Very greedy bike. 20 KPL no matter how gently it is ridden (I never ride hard but usually ride assertively).
    2. Almost unbearable exhaust noise in almost all rev ranges.
It is, however, extremely nice to ride - so much so that it almost rides itself. Also, you almost fail to notice the difference with a passenger.
However, I want to supplement my commuting scooter (2015 PCX150) with something more comfortable as I have a lower spine problem and 110 kilos/day commuting is not good.
But commuting bikes need to get through traffic (on Japanese roads).
How is the filtering on this bike in tight traffic?
I am thinking of swapping the Tmax for the bike I should have swapped the V-Strom for... the Honda NC750 X DCT.
I would say the NC 750 X is better for filtering through traffic than this, but that is a guess.
If you know better, I would love to know.
Anyone who's used the NC (I rode the earliest model in manual) and the X ADV and can offer a comparison, I would like to know.
With thanks to the video maker and anyone who can help.
    EDIT...
Oh, and Honda's Japanese website says this bike gives 42KPL at 60 KPH. That is a lot better then the 20 KPL the Tmax gives me.

Take a look at the Honda SH350i. Small, light, frugal and easy to filter.

@@ArmadilloGodzilla Thanks, I have considered the 300 cc version in the past. Japan is a strange market for engines of that size, though. If you are from the UK,, you will know what an M.O.T. test is (government mandated safety test performed once a year covering the bikes brakes, frame, engine etc etc). Here the test is once every two years, mostly an exercise in getting tax, and lax compared to a UK MOT. Also, if I bike is 249cc or less, there is no need to submit it for the test. If it is 251 cc or larger, you have to. The test is about 300 pounds every two years. So here people who want a medium sized bike go almost exclusively for a 250cc. Or they go somewhere around 400-5-- or bigger. There is no Xmax 300 here, for example, but the Tricity 300 is still a 300 and not 250.
I notice that the bike you suggested is, bodily, no bigger (no more comfortable) than my PCX150, and that the wheels are in fact smaller. No good on slightly rough rods as my back is not good.
      Thanks, though.

xadv did a lower fuel cost than tmax ,xadv is not so smooth like a tmax as dct +chain drive VS cvt+belt drive.I daily comute with xadv,it is a bit heavy, and little big if the traffic is busy

Underseat storage on the ADV 750 isn't great so budget another £500 for a luggage rack/top box. I'm waiting for delivery of an ADV 350; no need for a top box on that ☺

Curious on why people are considering taking this off road and calling it an adv bike but are skeptical on more serious motorcycles like the Vstrom 1050 or the Tiger 850, calling them ,,just'' road bikes.

Lane splitting in British Columbia Canada is illegal, Canada is not really motorcycle friendly. ☹️
