I used Wix for a final project in school a couple of years ago, and it truly was super easy, even for a 16 year old. I built it in a couple of days (working on it only 2 hours a day). It was very intuitive and didn't feel any different to making a powerpoint.
Agreed. I used Wix several years ago to build a professional web site. It was a pleasure to use and what I also liked was it was super easy to make pages inaccessible or bring them back on line when I wanted to. I have another project coming up and I will most certainly be using Wix again .... it's just so easy for us users. It even has it's own SEO wizard built in ... it's a no brainer !
As a Web Developer someone recently asked me to add some stuff to their Wix website. Sure, it's simple and easy to use, but it turns out I really don't like Wix at all and will probably never use it again. It only allows you to do very basic things and quickly reaches its limit as soon as you try something different.
@@agentmikster44 I hear you on that one. They all looked great. However, I had to go with Squarespace. The design was clean, neat, and not overloaded with images. I need my website to look something like this. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone in our circles didn't believe that we spent something less than 29$ on it! We handle 5000 transactions on that site monthly, it's seamless, beautiful and professional! It's better than some of the companies who spent 5-10k $ on their platforms. I mostly update my wix default images via creatives, pics and videos from CANVA pro. Wordpress would need its own video. There are a billion templates and Wordpress achieves the best SEO and page load speeds possible. These are as important as design.
On peak maybe, but then you got almost no functionality. In reality all those little plugins are completely messing up the code. Wordpress code is bloated. Webflow is way faster.
Excellent content Jimmy, I just subscribed. I took the poll and agree with the poll results. Squarespace has design perfected, wix as well as weebly aren’t even in the same class. Wordpress wouldn’t even load lol. But considering there are 1.5 billion websites on the internet the sad truth is your site is likely to never get viewed let alone significantly noticed. I’m not being a downer here, I had a successful site with excellent page ranking but find that’s rarely the case with many folks who can pay a lot of money to be unnoticed and disappointed. So Wordpress with its $45.00 a year personal plan is about what a site is worth in my humble opinion; a cheap hobby. Thanks for the great advice looking forward to more.

I am an artist and coach/consultant, so beauty was a deciding factor for me in presenting my studio online. It was my first time making a website (super late to the game). The work is cumbersome…yet, another factor with SS is that the template forces one to think more clearly and methodically about one's business. I work for a company that sells Wix websites and I’ve always wondered what the DIY experience is like vs what I sell. This was a great video. I won’t get into the comparison of the different websites here as I am biased.
Do you mean you work for a company that sells the templates to Wix, or your company pays you to do the dragging and dropping on the Wix websites? The second option sounds like an awesome job!
I have not tried Squarespace or Wix yet, But WordPress is a complete environment and with plugins and features available for almost every need. There are paid and free themes available across the internet for WordPress and elementor builder for WordPress is awesome. I have experience doing web designs for startups and ecommerce stores and I can tell you that WordPress although looks overwhelming, has more features and customization options any other tool in the market. Basically I am deciding on the platform to choose for my next website project and WordPress still seems the best.
If im not mistaken wix has a free option too great website I was stuck between the two for a while in the end I went with squarespace because wix had too much customization options for an overthinker like me but if you like options that might be a pro
I really loved this video.....in depth explanation for those of us looking to save but don't know the hidden details. Thank you so much for your suggestions Jimmy!
I recently have gone into the realms of starting my own business. And your video was very informative and helpful in helping me understand things. Like things I didn't even realize I needed to know. Thank you so much!
Appreciate the video! I am currently editing my SquareSpace (7.0) website and in my opinion it is a UX nightmare. Making the simplest edits is so over complicated that it's shocking. Example: I want to refresh my site so I chose a pretty new template. I am simply trying to replace the template images with my own, replace the text with my own text, etc. Seems like a logical strategy...but oh no. I am a professional designer that basically learns software for a living and I cannot figure out basic editing functions. Yikes. A simple 1 day website refresh is now on day 3 with nearly zero progress. I cannot recommend a platform that has made such illogical UX choices for it's users.
I had 7.0. And was frustrated. The 7.1 version has a few features I wanted. Couldn’t transfer. Closed 7.0 which for me wasn’t an issue because I really didn’t start the site. The 7.1 it’s set up so a person cannot right click on your image and copy it. I thought that was important enough to switch over.
In my experience the key benefit of Wordpress are the many addons you can buy, it takes screen animations to the next level...but it all takes time...and some cost too......great video!!
*_the learning curve is worth it, what you're saying!?_* *If so, I totally agree!* Come follow us and watch us explode giving away what everyone else is charging a premium for...!! If... of course if that is something you would want to be a part of..! Thanks! 🙏
squarespace's whole USP is their "award winning templates" but i couldn't find a single template that i liked!!! it only showed me 1 page of templates, and at the bottom there was a link to their old templates. i found a lot of the templates looked the same, they seemed to be recycled with different fonts and colour schemes. i'm setting up a website for a family member and found this gorgeous wix theme called adalene. it looks so sophisticated, elegant and perfect for the vibe they're going for. i also LOVE that you can add video on the homepage for free, and how you can really customise the look you're going for. we've been using wordpress for a couple years and it's honestly horrible. the themes are ugly, the editing functions are non-intuitive. you want to resize something but it messes up the whole page. a lot of time is spent fiddling on correcting small details. i'm heavily leaning towards wix since a lot of reviews show that they have step by step instructions to guide you through making the website. a lot of reviews also say that apparently wix's seo is better than squarespace's. i really hope that's true. there are add ons like photo galleries that look quite useful. if i can't find hard evidence that wix's seo is actually worse than it claims, then we'll build our new website on there.
I am so glad I came across your post... I am moving back to Albuquerque, New Mexico (US) to RE-Open my Acting Studio for *Film *TV *Stage... teaching Kids, Teens and Adults. When you described the "Sophisticated... Elegant..." I was hooked... Then name of my Acting Studio is: J. Christopher Couture (c) My question to you is this... how do I know where to find "Adalene"... theme... Thank you for your help.
i agree with much you say about square space. Their ecommerce shop page is very crude and not modifable. The collections block on the shop page is annoying if you want more than a grid. You can't do addons in the shop collections block section.
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing valuable information and most importantly, for sharing tips on how to not fall for these tricks companies have to make us spend a ton of money without explaining much. I am just starting a business, and am going with squarespace for the visual possibilities they offer for the website. It’s looking beautiful just the way I wanted. A lot of work involved but I love doing things on my own. Definitely following your tips on buying the domaine and selling online. Thank you so much
Thanks for the comparison. I'm already using wordpress to create content, and I agree it's got a deep learning curve. But given the sunk cost, I'd stick with WP. Maybe I can borrow ideas from squarespace's great templates.
Thank you so much for such a detailed video. I have personally used wordpress for two years and I have been able to manage and maintain my website for free of cost. I do agree that WordPress does not have the best looking templates and that is why I think I am going to take a look at square space. 😍
People talk so much about plug ins, SEO, coding (what's that for, what's that?) and terms which would be nice to have a quick explanation; one guy's review said that Wordpress gets hacked a lot, and then, most of these videos don't mention that issue ...
I tried WordPress but I don't have time for all the behind the scenes of web building. I ended up using carrd with hostgator. Took me about 10 minutes.
Thank you so much. Yes, you helped me because I’ve been exhausted with videos trying to decide what to choose to start my small biz. I’ll do square space.
I'm little bit confused now because currently I'm creating my portfolio website on Squarespace😅. Could you please show us a processof transfer a domain to squarespace?
Jimmy - Great comparisons! That was a lot of work that was VERY useful. Quick question: Can you get rid of the "Powered By....." messages on the personal plans ? Thanks again for your efforts!
On the downside part of Professional plan for Squarespace you could add the great Marketing, SEO and Google Ads Credit it provides which the normal plan doesnt and could be really good for a first year. Loved the video btw
Thanks for the Video. I'm an advanced WordPress user and I have been asked to develop a persons SquareSpace site. I'm trying to be open minded so it was good to get some insight so I knew what I was getting myself into. The Wix info was also a plus so props for that. 👍
@@A12Diary Personally, I would still go with WordPress as I prefer to choose where I host my site, email and many other aspects to my online presence. With the new WordPress block editor, you could throw a page together with everything you said in half an hour (and that is giving time to play and experiment).
@@A12Diary Hi Abdul. Wheee do you prefer hosting your website at? I recently tried hostinger and I don't like it. Their chat feature takes too long. You have to keep starting a new chat when responding. And for someone like my myself; a novice with lots of questions, that's a nightmare. 😂
Thanks for a very informative video. Easy to understand, especially seaming that I'm new to this kind of thing. You've helped me to decide to go with Squarespace. Thanks.
I’m about to start on a website for my girlfriend. I have no prior experience so this is very helpful. The look is important and I’m going to do it my self so We’re going to give square space a shot. We’ll see how it goes. Great job on vid.
I agree with all the comments. I've watched a lot of videos, some of them long and some of them very long. But this one gets straight to the point with real soutions. Is there a follow up video or did I miss the part on how to get a host for the website? Please paste any links. Thank you for all your help.
Broooo ... this is awesomee ... best video I have seen so far that I wanted to know about!! So balanced, great flow .. all the information .. bestttt!! Loved it.. best of luck .. this channel is very useful and it willl grow!,
Wix looks better from an interactive website perspective, Squarespace for a instagram follower website perspective: as for the video itself, it gives a fair assessment of the features but I think the problem is you're judging the websites based on what templates were available rather than judging it for it's user interface: feels like you just threw content at it and said: okay, I'm done. It looks like something you would throw together for a school project the designs look cookie cutter and like every typical drag and drop website out there. I would rather design it all myself. Okay if you're not familiar with web design, but for me: I'd want to find a web host with more "competitive" pricing. By that I mean cheap.
The thing is, he's going from a perspective of a small business owner with no experience in creating a website wanting to quickly slap together one to have an online presence. Taking that context into account, templates are extremely important since it greatly reduces the amount of time and experience needed to have a decent website running.
Thank you, this video has been helpful in leaning about website building for someone like myself. I've been tasked by my school alumni organization to update and modernize their website. It was built many years ago and had not been updated since 2012, except for announcements of our annual meetings. A question I have is: using the webhosts that are mentioned in this video, can one "transfer" content from one webhost platform to one these platforms (Wix, Squarespace or Wordpress) to take advantage of features offered or pricing ? Is it possible to archive old content from one platform to these webhosts? Are these webhosts satisfactorily secure if one wanted to keep separate content for members only and not for general viewing? Thank you for your reply.
Hello Ted, yeah it's possible to transfer information and content from some of these webhosts to another. In some other cases it's not possible. It depends on each platform and webhost. Also it's definitely possible to create some sort of members areas using these platforms where people can have access to a certain information only after they meet a certain requirement If you need more explanation then kindly state it
for example you created an online store through wix or squarespace? how does they store your products and customers information? do they provide database for it? are they designing the backend for you? and how do you deploy these things to your selected web hosting company?
Jimmy!!! You have no idea how helpful this video is. I even feel like watching it twice. I only have one question, do any of these three platforms have bilingual sites? It seems wix offers bilingual domains, but I don't know about wordpress and squarespace...
I don't think squarespace has that facility, wordpress has a multi lingual plugin and obviously the easier site builders for this are Site123 and Webador.
pole maybe over but I visited all three and must say the by far the WIX looked better to me. The WordPress looked to corporate looking to my taste. the square space looked to plane&simple . WIX wins for me. I couldn't see pole results but I would like to know which one won the most votes. I have worked with WordPress in the pass and it was easy to get started but before I could finish it just ended up being very confusing and frustrating.
For the budgetest option you can manuallty install wordpress and get a nice templeate, and would only have to pay for domain and hosting, which can be as little as 40 dollars/year! But it does require some knoweledge of WP backend
Websites have been a hobby for me since the early 90s so I tend to believe I know about them. I do not consider myself an expert. I try new things when I find them researching it as everyone researches and futzes with things they're interested in. I've tried a lot of these builder things. They're clunky for me. I can usually write what I want to do manually faster than I can figure out how to do it with the builder.
Hi Jimmy. Thanks for all your work on this and we benefit. This is a bit long but please read. My experience w/SquareSpace and advise to others. Better to have all your images ready w/correct dimensions and renamed for SEO. And have your 'about page' etc ready to go. I opened up an account and was overwhelmed by what it really takes - Thought and TIME! SS also provides a LOGO maker and you dont need to pay. That's great. Big takeaway is read all you can first re setup. I had the 7.0 version and realized I want the 7.1. AND once you create the 7.0 you cant just transfer it over. I do know 7.1 protects someone from right clicking and copying your image. That is big and it may also be more user-friendly. Do you know if you set up a POD (print on demand) service, a person could choose their own print company and not use SS's printers? I have been trying to find this answer out. I like the idea of Shopify. I'll check it out. Also, I also got my domain from GoDaddy so I am not beholden to one site.
Thank you Jimmy for this information and explanation! You answered all of my questions. Could one transfer the google business email and domain to Wix also? Which of the 3 would you recommend for a coaching website just starting out? I didn't understand Squarespace and was going in circles.
One of the most important features of any website is a facility to collect visitors name and email and a method to email them. I use Wordpress for my website and an external service provider (Aweber) for the name collection and email facilities. These facilities are VITAL for any commercial website. What does Squarespace provide in this regard?
i designed my website years ago. Here is my desire. back then a page could go a long way, meaning you could scroll down the page looking at paintings in my case along with copy where ever i wanted to put it. So page one could have and introduction (not limited by the copy blocks or image blocks or other limitations. If i do a series of paintings and want to show them as a series and place them anywhere on that first page. Plus add copy anywhere I want, then is there a app that allows me that option? I don't need to sell or soliscite money. I want a vanity page or pages (maybe) and possibility a comment block or two. Is there an app today that allows an artist to freely design what they want the viewer to see? comments are appreciated. thanks
what do you mean different stores? I want to sell my art so Ive been leaning towards SS and then he mentioned quickly shopify. Can you have both and link them or are they two different sites? Why do you have two different stores? Would you want to mention them so I can go check them out and see what you mean? I think real sites to study to make informed decisions are more helpful than say his fake(yet appreciated) sites.
@@jessicajae7777 I have two ecommerce stores. I started one with Shopify years ago. The second was just started a few months ago, and I use SS with that one.
I feel like you underrated wordpress a lot. Since wordpress is not a budget option it can get a LOT more expensive than the others but you can do so much more with wordpress.
Even though I’m here to watch a tutorial on square space my first instinct when you brought up the logo and said “SquareSpace” was to skip forward a bit. Lol.
When you ad photos to the sites you are building, do you need to resize them to certain sizes, or are they automatically resized then you load them ? As you can tell, I am a complete newbie to web site building !! LOL
We build many websites for new start-ups and once built they can easily take over...Wordpress always. Extremely flexi and loads of options to chose from.
Hello, I'm a newbie, so I judging how the Squarespace appears to me, knowing nothing about the software product. Yes, lots of pretty pictures of pretty websites for your choice. Very neat and unbusy. But not a lot of pictures with men in them. Also few illustrations of outdoor settings, plants, animals, etc. So for me as a newcomer, Squarespace needs a better way to tell you how to do things. How add persons to help you build your website? How publish/unpublish pages? Are unlinked pages the same as unpublished? No doubt the answers are buried somewhere on the website.
See, this is the type of video UA-cam should have. It gets a little tiring when people only talk about the good in something, these sort of balanced analysis is way more helpful.

Same!!! I wish I had went with something else! It’s like one small task takes so much effort
I’ve been sitting in it for 4 months I’m so confused
I've been sitting on it for months and I just cannot understand why it has to be so complicated
Glad I’m not the only one, it was more frustrating to do the most simple of tasks, I was honestly hoping for much more for the way it’s advertised
These are by far your best type of video! Awesome job as always!!
In my experience the key benefit of Wordpress are the many addons you can buy, it takes screen animations to the next level...but it all takes time...and some cost too......great video!!
*_the learning curve is worth it, what you're saying!?_*
*If so, I totally agree!*
Come follow us and watch us explode giving away what everyone else is charging a premium for...!! If... of course if that is something you would want to be a part of..! Thanks! 🙏
thanks for such a thorough evaluation of all these services - this is incredibly detailed and helpful! Appreciate your hard work here
squarespace's whole USP is their "award winning templates" but i couldn't find a single template that i liked!!! it only showed me 1 page of templates, and at the bottom there was a link to their old templates. i found a lot of the templates looked the same, they seemed to be recycled with different fonts and colour schemes.
i'm setting up a website for a family member and found this gorgeous wix theme called adalene. it looks so sophisticated, elegant and perfect for the vibe they're going for. i also LOVE that you can add video on the homepage for free, and how you can really customise the look you're going for.
we've been using wordpress for a couple years and it's honestly horrible. the themes are ugly, the editing functions are non-intuitive. you want to resize something but it messes up the whole page. a lot of time is spent fiddling on correcting small details.
i'm heavily leaning towards wix since a lot of reviews show that they have step by step instructions to guide you through making the website. a lot of reviews also say that apparently wix's seo is better than squarespace's. i really hope that's true.
there are add ons like photo galleries that look quite useful. if i can't find hard evidence that wix's seo is actually worse than it claims, then we'll build our new website on there.
Christopher Couture (c)
My question to you is this... how do I know where to find "Adalene"... theme...
Thank you for your help.
Wow! This is very honest, simple, fast, informative! I appreciate that
i agree with much you say about square space.
Exactly! ..(ABOUT snagging ideas _from_ *_SquareSpace)_* and then simply recreating the trendy idea you've just found and jacked from SS.
Mr. Dude. Where are you????? New content please :D
Thank you so much for such a detailed video. I have personally used wordpress for two years and I have been able to manage and maintain my website for free of cost. I do agree that WordPress does not have the best looking templates and that is why I think I am going to take a look at square space. 😍
Really glad that I subbed. You have a great way of speaking and the content you put out top notch quality.
People talk so much about plug ins, SEO, coding (what's that for, what's that?) and terms which would be nice to have a quick explanation; one guy's review said that Wordpress gets hacked a lot, and then, most of these videos don't mention that issue ...
Good point to know! Thank you
Absolutely love your work, exactly the quality I want to see In UA-cam
BUMP!
Domain expansion: square space.
I'm little bit confused now because currently I'm creating my portfolio website on Squarespace😅. Could you please show us a processof transfer a domain to squarespace?
Can you review an eating service like hello fresh? I have always been curious if it's really worth it
ive been pretty curious too tbh
Well im using hello fresh and i can tell you its pretty good. The meals taste great and come with very easy instructions. Would definitely recommend
I NEVER COMMENT ON ON VIDEOS it’s very rare! But I just have to let you know you were very informative and knowledgeable thank you!
What do you mean by "downside"?
Thanks for the Video. I'm an advanced WordPress user and I have been asked to develop a persons SquareSpace site. I'm trying to be open minded so it was good to get some insight so I knew what I was getting myself into. The Wix info was also a plus so props for that. 👍
Which one is better, Wordpress vs square space for a media production company with a few text, a few photos and one video?
@@A12Diary Personally, I would still go with WordPress as I prefer to choose where I host my site, email and many other aspects to my online presence.
With the new WordPress block editor, you could throw a page together with everything you said in half an hour (and that is giving time to play and experiment).
@@A12Diary Hi Abdul. Wheee do you prefer hosting your website at? I recently tried hostinger and I don't like it. Their chat feature takes too long. You have to keep starting a new chat when responding. And for someone like my myself; a novice with lots of questions, that's a nightmare. 😂
Love watching these videos.
Zero interest in building a website now but I found every second interesting.
Build one and choose Wix
SUPER HELPFUL! thanks for the effort and the sharing. i will also be looking at your other YT vids since this one was really well done. BIG thumbs up.
this is a really great video for someone like me who has no idea about building a website! thank you!
Thanks for a very informative video. Easy to understand, especially seaming that I'm new to this kind of thing. You've helped me to decide to go with Squarespace. Thanks.
Hi do you have your squarespace website up and running now? Im happy to assist.
Excellent, clear video on comparing the lot. How do each of these website perform in terms of SEO?
I am so happy I found your video; I am beginning to blog again after taking a long break from it years ago. =D
2 minutes in and I love you already! Just subscribed!
Broooo ... this is awesomee ... best video I have seen so far that I wanted to know about!! So balanced, great flow .. all the information .. bestttt!! Loved it.. best of luck .. this channel is very useful and it willl grow!,
Went for the review, praise for your lighting! Well done!
Really great video jimmy - I’m starting up a health food blog and based on this vid and my gut instinct I’m going to go with squarepace
Any recommendation for the best cheap web host? Thanks
you could always make your own video 😂 instead of complaining
Good content - efficient, authentic, and not annoying.
Nice review with relevant information and comparisons. Subscribed!
Also it's definitely possible to create some sort of members areas using these platforms where people can have access to a certain information only after they meet a certain requirement
If you need more explanation then kindly state it
Thank you for these clear and quick explaination 🙂 trying to help someone who isn't computer savy so I feel this is a good starting point
Oooo! Thanks for such a clear review of so much. I want to make website for my nonprofit but am backwards in technology. Great help, thnx
for example you created an online store through wix or squarespace? how does they store your products and customers information? do they provide database for it? are they designing the backend for you? and how do you deploy these things to your selected web hosting company?
thanks so much man you are an absolute legend. i was finding it hard to make a decision there and this video helped a lot!!
Great video. Very informative. I watched from start to finish
Great video, Jimmy! Thank you for making this video!
Thank you for breaking down a top 3 user hosts! This was very informative for a threshold business....
Extremely good video. Very helpful and to the point.
Very nicely done vid, Jimmy!
I like your videos because I learn from them. Please make a video comparing AUP/TOS and also tech support (thoroughness, effectiveness, speed etc).
Squarespace sounds like the best option for me
Thank for making this video
Brilliant vid. Decided to sell my course on my own website and not udemy and that was a great intro into the big web creator dogs. Thanks.
I'm just a beginner and I'm learning basic things. Thank you Jimmy!
text me if you need any help
Thank you Jimmy for this information and explanation! You answered all of my questions. Could one transfer the google business email and domain to Wix also? Which of the 3 would you recommend for a coaching website just starting out? I didn't understand Squarespace and was going in circles.
One of the most important features of any website is a facility to collect visitors name and email and a method to email them. I use Wordpress for my website and an external service provider (Aweber) for the name collection and email facilities. These facilities are VITAL for any commercial website. What does Squarespace provide in this regard?
Is there a way I can create a photography archive without getting a website I’d love recommendations thanks
i designed my website years ago. Is there an app today that allows an artist to freely design what they want the viewer to see? comments are appreciated. thanks
I think the business plan is a great deal. I use both Shopify and Squarespace for different stores.
what do you mean different stores? I want to sell my art so Ive been leaning towards SS and then he mentioned quickly shopify. Can you have both and link them or are they two different sites? Why do you have two different stores? Would you want to mention them so I can go check them out and see what you mean? I think real sites to study to make informed decisions are more helpful than say his fake(yet appreciated) sites.
@@jessicajae7777 I have two ecommerce stores. I started one with Shopify years ago. The second was just started a few months ago, and I use SS with that one.
@@CMV314 Is it good? for ecommerce or dropshipping? i know shopify is better but it doesn't support my country
LOL
YES! THis is available on youtube thru square space or go to their site and they have tons of articles.
We build many websites for new start-ups and once built they can easily take over...Wordpress always. Extremely flexi and loads of options to chose from.
Jimmy you are the boss! thanks for this video :)
This was fantastic. Thanks, Jimmy!
