@@RichardOliver why? Because I asked him a simple question and he made a smart snarky remark then blocked me. I told him I had a few of his fragrances and loved boss Bastard. Wasn’t initially into it and took time to get to like it. Another seemed too sweet and not as rounded . He took offense to me saying it wasn’t as rounded I suppose.
Yeah he’s very fragile. He blocked me because I said onyx smells like a better version of noir de noir
@@stefankkbarnes interesting . If anything it should be a compliment . But there’s reasons why he won’t review FRAGRANCE DU BOIS. Oud or AOUD, can smell like anything , doesn’t always have to be pissy. Same with PDM & INITIO .

Royal Tobacco is the ‘new’ Amouage. New perfumers and new direction. It is very different from the original line.
Nothing in that list from house of Orto Parisi and Nassomato? :( I think Alessandro Gaultieri is doing one of the strongest fragrances in the business as well.

That would be awesome! I want to hear it dissected as well! Would love to hear some in-depth thoughts on it. It took me a few times before I understood what I was even smelling. So enchanting and natural- I was lost for a while, still kind of am, but seeing things more clearly as time goes on.
I would love to see a series with Aaron where he dissects some master perfumers best works. Like 5-10 Alberto Morillas works etc.

I've recently gotten a bottle of Onyx Extreme, the longevity is incredible. It blows all other rose oud fragrances out of the water. I have worked 24 hour shifts and get home and take my clothes off and still get strong smells of Onyx dry down. I can not say enough good things about this brand, especially in terms of price with regard to the quality of materials used.
50 ml for 280$ I decided to get Luna instead

I picked up Gentle Fluidity Silver this week. Everyone is saying it’s beast mode but I find really soft 🤷♂️🤷♂️.

TBH the vintage formula of Dior Homme Parfum is probably my strongest powerful fragrance and I have Amouage Interlude too… One spray and that is enough for 24 hours +
Pardon by Nasamatto has that lasting power also. Seems to grow with time.
There is no vintage formula of DHP. The formula for 2014 and 2020 are still the same only batch changes.

Royal Tobacco is disgusting to me, so disappointed. Overdose of birch tar, oud and first and foremost Peru balsam.
Onyx Extreme was my last purchase. I enjoy it very much, aaron is a great perfumer!

I don't really get the confused as to why he doesn't know what other houses fragrances smell like. If he went around smelling other fragrances all the time there would undoubtedly be some influence, even if it's unintentional. He is trying to come up with things on his own, that way he's got the best chance of making them smell unique as he's taking the raw elements and putting them together until HE thinks they are perfect. Just like what he said at the end of the video, he's passionate about what he does and wants to make what he enjoys. Naturally I'm sure he's hoping that other people are going to enjoy it too, but I guess it's a risk anyone takes by trying to come up with an original fragrance.

I feel like Aaron is going to be remembered long after he has passed. Not to be morbid. But he’s going places. Technically knowledgeable, modern, and an artist through and through. Love listening to him analyse fragrances.

Might actually be a plus if a perfumer isn't really familiar with the top of the pops. Like Aaron mentioned, it's less noise. But I would imagine that it does increase the probability that one of their creations might be similar to others out there. Otherwise, it's best to stay in the zone. 💪

Great video! But I'm curious if anyone else caught this: Aaron said there was one in the line of PDM that he did not enjoy. There's a video that Chris shot with Aaron in the past, and Aaron was repulsed at the smell of Carlisle 😮
It is amazing how on any given day we can smell things differently...though I do think Aaron is softening up with his candid evaluations 😊

noticed exactly the same. As you said on any given day things can smell differently and on top of that people evolve as well. Aaron is getting alot better in conversing what he is smelling too :)

Amouage Opus XIV Royal Tobacco is so good though, its my favourite scent ever since i bought it 4 months ago.

@FRAGMENTAL what would you recommend for a 41 yr old male, for an “all rounder” day/night/all year parfum or extrait parfum to last 8-12 hr plus and smell it on clothes days later? It can be niche or designer… I don’t like too dark towards Arabic or the either other way towards Creed Adventus. Is there a tom Ford Oud wood meets YSL Tux, just pure powerful?
