Oh hey, just to ask a question for the 3d turtorial, is there a way to make the 3d models have outlines in the final render? Like i can add 3d models without drawing over them or so and they'll automatically render where to go like freestyle in blender?
But also nice tutorial! I can finally make my character's hair feel fluid now xD

I've been on a fair amount of shows where the riggers went waaaay too ham on the rigs. Envelopes on EVERY drawing! And I'm not talking about the main cast, I mean background extras! Opening up any scene with more than 3 characters chugged my computer way down.

I am sorry, but, "enveloppes on every piece" is really becoming the norm, and I usualy dont see anything wrong with it. (They are called Deformer Rigs)
Its just how technologie and animation is evolving.
The 3d models from toy story 1 are way less advanced thab toy story 4.
Envelope based rigs are "heavy", and that just how it is.
To make it workable if an artist's computer is not strong enough, you can use many things such as compositr Caches! :D And disconnecting rigs you dont immediately use.
I do lots of consulting and rig analysis for work, and putting envelope on everything is rarely, is ever, a thing i frown uppon.
(Putting an envelope on the hl of theneye would be frowned upon tho)

@@ZeBirdBrain Yes, I generally agree with you and I could afford to be more progressive and appreciative of the time spent building and planning rigs.
The production I was on is maybe not a fair overview. The animation that came back from overseas never utilized ANY of the envelopes that were baked into the rigs (rigged by the same studio), and it all came back very cut-out-y and flat. If the animation is utilizing the tools, by all means, use them! But this wasn't the case.
I've also been on some really S-tier looking shows with surprisingly minimal rigs, so I think thats really shaped my perspective on how complicated a rig needs to be. All n all, I think it really depends on the look a show is going for. I personally slap envelopes on a ton of my own rigs because I utilize them in my passion projects.

Hi! I have a question, let s say i have a rig where i have the face be cut by the body, but i want to animate it, imagine you want it to rotate it cuts right, but if i want to move the face out of the body and not be cut in the same scene, how do i do it, if i turn off the cutter it turns it off everywhere. Short : How do i animate nodes?
