Nicely done.
Thanks
Great work! Man! Way to show the real hard work that is involved when doing a project like this. I had to admit that at first, I thought that the mantel would cause problems with time, but it looked solid. Do you have a list of materials and estimated cost? Thank you!
Appreciate it. Yea not gonna lie, this was one of my most challenging and labor intensive projects haha. Checkout backyardflare.com for fireplace plans and material list w estimate cost. Not including the stucco labor, materials all in was about $1500-1800. Depends on the finishes you want.
@@WinnyDaddyDIY Which design from backyard flare did you choose? Also, curious to know if you put fire brick on the top of the inside?
Hey ,great work
Also looking to get a similar fireplace built but not sure how to cap on the top of chimney...do you have any pics or video showing how you finish it .
Thanks
Hey! I was debating what to do as well. Ended up putting a little stucco sloping away from the chimney so water runs off. I’m also planning on putting a spark arrester similar size of the opening to prevent water or anything else from going down chimney. Final video will be coming soon!
Thanks for the video. Do you have pics of the final product? Would love to see how you finished it! Thanks
Thanks! Final video will be coming soon!
@@WinnyDaddyDIY Id also like to see the final product!
Gorgeous. Why liquid nails and not firebrick mortar?
Don’t need too much to get a good bond. Also adheres quickly. Was tired of using mortar by the end of this project haha.
@@WinnyDaddyDIYthe glue isn’t for high heat though
That's a 32" fire box. That will take alot of wood to make a descent fire in it. I'm thinking of building a smaller version of it instead. I think 24" wide by 20 high will be plenty for what I want on the patio.
I could be worng but isnt it a 48" wide fire box. Since each cinder block is 16", with 3 wide would be 48?
@@lionsmane4468 perhaps, but still way too big for my taste.
Yea definitely big if you’re planning on burning wood. I went with the gas HBurner and it puts out some good heat with the lava rock. Wanted lower maintenance with the same effect. Good luck on your project!
Another dad on UA-cam put the gas in as a starter for his wood burning fireplace that was 43”. It put out the heat he was looking for. I’d love this sort if thing running a heat exchanger through it and under some built in seats or the patio floor.
Where did you get the fire bricks?
Hey check your local masonry supply
What was the final cost for materials?
Around 1500
