- With Cleetus McFarland's Christmas Tree Drags just ahead, Billy of the Street Racing Channel buttoned up the last issues on his big block twin turbo Nova and brought it over for us to sort out any suspension and alignment issues before he could do some testing. Since we last saw this car it has had a WHOLE lot of changes and upgrades in parts, that means we're basically starting over on this drag race alignment.
Strap in, this is a long and involved one! One of the big things we pride ourselves on here at Lucore Automotive is our attention to details especially when it comes to custom suspension setups and alignments. 90% of the time these race cars are going pretty much directly from our lift to the race track, so we need to make sure everything we can see and touch is proper. As always, there are going to be some things we will see, and want to improve, or to point out the customer. We appreciate the trust the entire SRC Channel family and extended family put in us, and want to make sure we cross every T and dot every I.
Good luck in testing, and good luck down south in Florida!
Thank you rich! Your attention to detail is why I always trust you guys and pretty much only you guys in this area.
We greatly appreciate it and take very seriously the responsibility you trust us with! Happy to tag in any time you need us, good luck with testing and the Christmas Tree Drags!
You definitely do an amazing job Rich. I wish I was close enough to bring my 1952 ford pickup to you.
I think that SRC has some great people wanting to help and be apart of the team.
Definitely CHANGE that driveshaft ASAP before the Xmas tree race
There’s an alignment and a racing alignment. There’s few in each state that can actually do a racing alignment right.
Billy’s Nova looks so good now. House of Pearls killed it with the paint and the graphics are spot on. Glad he got you guys to go over it. Rich has a level of attention to detail on a whole different level than most people, nice work.
So much respect for a man that knows his craft and really takes good care of his customers and generally cares about doing the job right
Yes and goes over the entire undercarriage not jus what's required
Rich pays great attention to detail. He could save your life! NOT KIDDING.
A professional, unobjective eye is an amazing resource. We all love our cars and overlook things. Rich obviously wants all of his customers to have a safe vehicle. But he also knows that these are his friends who will be driving very fast.
SRC can’t go wrong with bringing your ride to Rich. He takes his time and his experience is worth it all
wow nice job not just an alignment but finding possible issues
Made the Finals You did your Job! Merry Xmas Gang.
I think you're right. It is Bent on the driver side keep up the good working video.
Many alignment shops does poorly service round here( Dillon,sc) I know I been a mechanic 36 years, greatly to see the great service these guys do
Love watching you work Rich, how thorough you are and your attention to details no matter how small. Great job sir !
I know even i get excited about buying a cool car. But from now on i will check the bottom of the car and chassis over real good. Thanks for the great video.
Yea that cut out crossmember with no tube connecting the a arm mounts, drive shaft dragging the loop on rear extension and that trans mount and several other things killed me on how they were done on such a nice looking car outside
@@young11984That’s called butchery! What a nightmare that chassis is, there’s no way that thing could ever pass a chassis inspection. That’s just an accident waiting to happen! I like all of the SRC crew and watch all of their videos, but I wouldn’t want to be in the car next to him on a race track! And yes I’ve drag raced for over 30 years. Cars running at the levels that they do need to be safe, there’s too much at stake.
@ i agree, i wouldnt have even touched it for a front end alignment until he tied the rear a arm mounts together. Simple bolt in brace would keep the front suspension stable
Rich is the man for racing alignment
If anyone can straighten this old girl out, it’s you, Rich.
Always glad to see you performing your magic on the alignment rack. If I were in your area I would absolutely be availing myself to your expertise. Stay safe and Merry Christmas!
Always love your videos rich!! Love your attention to everything!!! Thank you.
I live in middle Georgia and I don't know of a single shop in the state that I could take my car to and get this type of quality work done. I wish I had someone to set up my front suspension alignment like that.
It's incredible how rare it is these days to find someone willing and able to do this kind of work. All it takes is a bit of education and a willingness to take your time. We aren't doing rocket surgery but... this is important stuff!
That drive shaft is bent hitting the frame. Like you said Rich. This is a temporary fix. Thanks for sharing!
Season Greetings guys! 🌲
Its amazing what these experts find when they are checking things out. All I heard was "Cha Ching, Cha ching".
Love your work experience definitely counts when working on race cars
Another outstanding job of doing your race car front-end magic Rich!! Great find on that driveshaft, that would be a real problem being compromised like that.
Great Video, thank you for sharing, a lot goes into an alignment, and trying to help these hotrods go a straight as possible.
Absolutely, that's one thing we do all these videos for is to show the TRUE behind the scenes work that goes into it. Especially when you are dealing with vehicles at these speeds and power levels!
Some car.... good content and thanks...🔧🔧👍
Great job, very informative good sir
Hi, Rich! Another job well done! You are magical.
This was very insightful. Attention to detail was incredible. I think Billy is in good hands!
Good job bro
I learned from kyle Tucker from Detroit Speed along time ago about how important an transmission crosmember is. They even make an upper one welded into the floor board that strengthens everything up.
I agree the paint on that mount tells a story
Rich you are awesome. You know your work and do it well. Billy is in great hands with you looking out.
Thanks!
Sick! What a beast. The 55, the nova the truck and the camaro? Omg. Its game on with a 10:50daily,Mustang, and the c10.epic.
She will be flying straight now.
Had my camaro done there a few months back. Car is straight as an arrow! Great people to work with, love watching the content. Hats off to you guys for amazing work!
Always a pleasure seeing the care you put in your work 🤔🙏🏾💪🏾🇺🇲&🗽4all✅
Great job
Hi Richard.I remember back 40 year ago, guys putting 15 inch vw tires on full sized cars.Crazy they drove them cars on the streets daily.
Get a mirror find witness 😂 great work as always .
Great video. Even better knowledge
Wow what a great shop......
I would assume when the suspension seperates, and tries to push the rear tires down, the body lifts, and rubs the shaft
I have sean it spark in alot of videos
Great content thanks for sharing .
Love it!
You guys do amazing work. I would trust you guys with any vehicle nice to see honest hard working men doing what real men do. God Bless you your Families and have a great and wonderful "Merry Christmas" take care and be safe.
That drivers side tie rod mount looks tweeked a hair for sure. Also i believe the driveshaft is from the separation of the rearend from the body. Billy isnt too easy on this beauty of a machine! Great work and great eye! If i lived closer, i would bring all my vehicles to you guys for alignments since all the big name companies dont know how to do correct alignments.
Can’t wait to see that on the streets again
Awesome alignment rack. Looks alot better than our 20 year old Hunter that we keep updated.
That's a lot of Fabrication work
This Nova will be going nice and straight. Rich your the best at these set ups. Thanks for sharing! 💯👊👍💕. Happy Holidays 🌲
If he’s separating the rear end, the driveshaft will pretty much stay where it’s at and the chassis will raise up, into the driveshaft. I know you are the man when it comes to setting these cars up.
Great job!
Outstanding Work and Great knowledge with your work 👍
Haven't been able to watch your Videos and Content for a while
Health issues with the Old Body
Really Appreciate your Time
Have a Great Day 👍
HOWDY Lucore,
Thanks
COOP
...
4 link is probably set up for Rear end to separate on power. So that cross member needs to be re done to allow for more separation
Motorplate setup. You don’t want much (if any) trans mount.
You better tell Uncle Bucko to freshen up on his welding I see some nasty ass weld's in that front end 😮
Great work by a skilled person.
Only to be Wheelied outa back.
You are doing a great Job 👍 👌 👏 🙌 ❤❤❤❤❤
When the rear separates the body would go up and contact the driveshaft.
Alignment speacilists racers come from many states around.realy do some great work on everything mechanical.
Sir Rich, you are a artist at alignments!!!
The eason it sweeps out and back in eracticly is possibly because back of the lower aarms are possibly flexing since the majority of the cross member is gone. Just my .02.
Looks 100% twisted...... Salute.
Great Video!
Thanks for Sharing Your Wealth Of Knowledge with Us!
Great to have A Second Pair of Eyes Looking Over A Car!
Very Thorough, and Pression Work!
Looks like You Spent Quite A Bit of time on this, How Much Ballpark Figure Would Something Like This Coast?
That steering arm looked twisted to me but im also watching it thru a camera 😊
2 of my faves
Attention to the small details make you a step above for sure along with your pride and feedback from customers
Cool 😎 !
Now Billy needs to fix all the issues you pointed out, getter done boy !!!
Wish I could get my car checked out by you guys..
Another great video
That chassis work is interesting.
Thsts a damn showcar
man Billy's car has come along way but that front crossmember is rough lol
That’s pretty much how it was when I bought it. This car has been through a lot but it’s what I could afford 3 years ago. I bought it for 12k and you couldn’t touch a double frame rail 25.2 car for that now.
@StreetRacingChannel 12k is a steal, it's come a super long way for sure and It's like do you start cutting and where do you stop or replace amd upgrade hence the camaro
@StreetRacingChannel I think you have a good shot at the Xmas tree race though you have the power now
I assumed drive shaft touching eather during burn out or on the lanch with rear suspension separation but the transmision crossmember i would definitely not of trusted it hes ben lucky it held up at all thats alot of power transfer he might want to check all his mounts/motor plate or anything attached to the drive line for cracks to be on the safe side if that crossmember has moved any it might of allowed other thangs to shift or move to i also agree with adding atleast adding removable k member between control arms👍
Sweet
That steering arm could absolutely be twisted, he did hit a wall with it.
Good job bro why you won’t put a pro charger on the nova
Good call Lucore. Must have a transmission cross member. I'm only at 13:22 right now and I'm yet to see a midplate.
Billy did put the drivers front into the wall. Driver side being bent is a good possibility. To me the driver side looked like it was bent inward significantly compared to the passenger side
Awesome video great content👍
Good catch 👀transmission mont & driveshaft definitely needs to be changed bad design on rear mont
That arm being bent could account for your 1/8” unequal tie-rod lengths. Would also cause different pivot ratio on the tie-rod 🤔
never noticed the Yenko/SRC decal on the nova... nice touch...
House of pearl just did all that I think when they flat blacked it
The driver side steering arm could be bent from hitting the wall when he raced beaterbomb in missouri! Was it ever changed?
Please please pass this knowledge to the next generation
When Billy hit the wall was it on the drivers side ??? That could be the cause of bent steering arm .
Left turning tendencies? P-factor, torque?
I like the spin you did on the yenko and SRC on the intake. Is that actually a yanko Nova?
So what setting on the alighnment machine do u have to use on the old nova for alignment? I know the 1970's novas didn't have rear adjustments..lol
Lol we set the machine up as a Nova, but we pretty much don't use any of that information ;) ANYTHING we do that's classic/custom ends up with every number other than toe in the red, but we've been doing all this stuff long enough we know the number we're looking for. Good question though!
@@LucoreAuto ahhh i see.
If it's set up for radial racing wouldn't the body separate and the tire get pushed down into the track, I talk and text but now that I say that loud I'm thinking then the driveshaft would be further away from the crossmember, I'm thinking in my head why would that hit then I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the video and find out why
Really need to tie that front A frame in, and address that rear transmission support to be stronger
One wheelie will change it ..😊
👍🏼
Rich, get a digital level to check the steering arm plumb.
thx Rich we need SRC going straight? lol btw did ya check the TRANNY ? lol maybe the chute comming out ?
I remember when he first put this Nova on the track, he hit the wall with it. I don't remember which side though. Billy could tell you.
He hit the wall due to oil under the tire when the Mallory came out the crank n went thru the oil pan, it hit pretty on the drivers side mostly but head on
Driverside, left lane at Milan, Michigan
@@robertmcgee3146 it wasn't at Milan it was at ozark Raceway park in Missouri
You definitely want the person that you trust with your car to have this level of OCD
Is the rear wishbone in backwards?
That will not hold the rear axle square with a heim joint pivot point on the frame.
If the Trans Flexes Upward it would Push the Rear Drive Shaft End downward onto the Cross Member
If car is set up for separation, driveshaft could contact crossmember.
