I always enjoy watching Yvonne's training videos. So much hard work for both Reintje and Yvonne, but my did it all pay off in the end. A beautiful team to watch. Thank you.
Reintje looks so relaxed and ready for her workout. A lot of training goes into a dressage horse. Knowing when to collect, when to push and when to release is a skill for the experienced. A good trainer and a willing horse makes all the difference.
You are such an experienced horse woman Yvonne. Hands quiet, legs still...beautiful to watch. Such sensitivity to Reintje takes such concentration! So happy she is yours now.
I have seen later videos of Reintje in competition. But, I really enjoyed watching you train her. You became a strong team through hard work, patience, and long hours of helping Reintje become a confident competitor. She is a beautiful horse with a beautiful rider.
Thank you for sharing your training methods. Your horse are all so well handled and relaxed they are not frightened or afraid and associating bad memories with any part of the training process. They feel comfortable asking questions and are given time to use hir brain to figure out answers on their own.
WHERE TO BEGIN THIS COMMENT; YOU ARE THE BEST!! YOUR EQUITATION FLAWLESS, YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND CONSIDERATION OF REINTJE'S NEEDS, FEELINGS AND COMFORT PHENOMENAL, . IT'S NO WONDER YOU DO SO WELL IN COMPETITION. I WATCHED SPELLBOUND BY THE VERY BEAUTY OF YOUR SKILL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING WITH US.
Watching you just brings peace to my stressful life. Your teaching technique’s are easy to follow and understand how you communicate with your horse. I know before long your strength with the Lord’s healing you will be riding again. God Bless Yvonne ❤️🤗🙏 Jo Ann Oregon,USA
That was very very interesting, thank you for the riding lesson. You explained things so well that I, a very very occasional horse rider, easily understood what you meant and could see and hear the differences.😊
Thank you so much for this small look into working a horse. Because I know next to nothing about interacting with a horse, I learn something new every single time I watch one of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Friesian Horses with us.
You are so right....had no idea this existed.....I discovered Friesian Horses, shortly before Rising Star came to Goengamieden!. This is great! Thank you, Maaike!!! ( Senna barking....miss that good girl..how she loved to run with the carriage!) Lisa.
The Ravishing, Clever Reintje... I feel honoured that she is shared with us! Rein must be so proud of his Beauties.... And now she belongs to the one who trained her... Most fitting! Goedzo, Yvonne and Reintje! Lisa.
It was so good to watch you training Reintje. Your explanations were clear and easily understood. Too often here in the USA horses and more importantly their riders are not properly taught. Watching a "Western Pleasure" riding class, or even competition, most of the pairs are heavy on the forehand. It is such a pleasure to see the two of you working together.
she is a true athlete, and you are a wonderful coach ! it's a very complex sport...looks so easy when we watch a competition, but the day in day out training is so rigorous and demanding. Thanks for sharing ...
Ya know what, hahaha? 🤣 I was commenting all the way through your training. 😂 I can see where she changed from the counter-canter back to the correct one. In fact, I used the term she needs to be "collected" and just moments later you said it, too! 🤣🤣 I so enjoyed your training program, Yvonne! You looked lovely mounted up on the back of Reintje!! 👍❤️ I really loved this old video from the past! I think I came into The Herd in May of 2020, so I never got to see this. Thanks lovely lady! ❤️ Jo in Michigan USA
It is amazing the amount of strategy goes into this training. Just amazing! Yvonne, you’re the best I’ve ever seen. It always works best when both the horse and rider become almost one being! Incredible. Beautiful to watch. I watch them I rewind and watch those steps again and again!! Never gets old to me. Thanks for explaining this so well. It’s a lot to learn. Horses are so dang smart!! So smart! Kudos!! 😘♥️
I love your teaching videos, you are very graceful in the saddle and I love the knowledge you share with us. Reintje is a lucky horse to have you as her trainer. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
Reintje is such a beautiful mare totally different than Uniek Dear Reintje is less athletic but more elegant and such a gentle horse I always loved the video of the training and competition with Reintje she nearly became a Queen maybe soon.if you train her again In the compettion you were simply stunning a great Team Love to see both of you Your expertise and technics are remarkable I used to ride mainly when I lived in Ireland but I would be ashamed to do it in front of you 😂 ❤🐎🏇❤
I stumbled upon your channel and have been "hooked" ever since! I love the way you video them up close, it feels like I'm right next to them. They are such wonderful animals and it shows that they are treated very well. Reintje is a wonderful example of your skill and love you have for all of them. Thanks so much for sharing....I look forward to a new video each and every week. Take care and Stay Safe!
We had nothing equivelent to what you do with these Friesians where I grew up (all over New England/northeast US). But we had a lot of good places to be involved with horses, riding, training, hunter/jumping and even formal "hunts." It is marvelous to watch what you do with these horses! I love the equipment (oh that I had a saddle with the pads in front of the legs!), and the training you do with them. I assume you have been trained over time to be able to advance these horses as you do :) Lovely! I do love to watch you with them, whether riding/training, or my favorite, when you walk amongst them... I appreciate all this you do, thank you!
There is so much I don't know about riding correctly. You are a good teacher. You are also a strong, awesome rider. You and Reintje are so beautiful together. I love these videos. I really enjoy the view from the top of the horse.
I could watch you ride Reintje all day, but you'd both have to stop & rest! This was such an educational video. Beautiful horse & knowledgeable, caring rider. Merry Christmas to you all.
Love to watch how you ride. I enjoy learning what signals you give the horse and what you are asking the horse to do. Especially in dressage, I can't see the signals you give to make the horse respond in a certain way. It looks mysterious and beautiful. You have a great job!! Happy holidays to you.
I suddenly learned in an aha moment the delicate balance between impulsion and collection. You ease the horse into the bridle with giving hands. You never urge a horse into an unmoving bit, but you use your hands to feel the mouth, and give the horse "room" to move up into the bridle AS you are moving forward. To NOT give the horse that rein is just kicking the horse into an unmoving bit which frustrates a lot of horses and causes a lot of tail switching. It is a subtle, dynamic balance. When I suddenly discovered this, I was riding my Saddle bred, and I just gave him some rein while maintain contact, and urged him forward. My sister was watching, and said "He is suddenly stepping higher, what did you do?"
Very nice indeed, some lovely action. Jumping poles on the ground, I believe, are useful to help horses use their hind quarters more. Also, nice to see it has finally rained there!
It's a mystery to me how you can make Reintje (any horse) do what yoy want, I can't see you do anything...🙃😲😀 I know this is how it should be, but knowing nothing about riding horses it is a miracle to me! So beautiful to watch though!!! 👍🥰
Hi! I recognize you as a longtime herd member🤗. Signaling to Reintje is through the reins and pressure from Yvonne's legs in various combinations . In dressage the signals should be 'invisible'. I believe Yvonne's way of handling a horse from birth and establishing herself as herd leader is her secret to training. She has an established rapport with the horses by the time training starts. Hope all is well with you.
@@aprils6589 Thanks April S! I know that this is how it should be, but that is exactly why I find it so miraculous ☺! And Yvonne is very good at this indeed!!!
You are an excellent rider and teacher of your Friesians. Reintje is truly coming along beautifully. Thank you for your clear explanation of some of the basics of dressage. I showed my ponies and used the dressage saddle. I have always loved to watch dressage but have only learnt about the different and more difficult gates and passes from you and your fabulous channel. Thank you so much. It would be wonderful to see videos of you gentle breaking one of your Friesians ❣️
@@shasha738 Hey! SO great to find you again.....those storms can really be pretty terrifying, no doubt....glad you came through! Please, try to keep in touch, if possible.... Am so excited to have found you again...YAY!! Lisa.
It's better to practice small pieces more often. Wow, same with competition obedience dog training, especially during any off season from the obedience trials. It's called splitting as the opposite of "chunking," which is performing the whole exercise. I am also a former saddle seat rider who trained my Saddlebred to do basic dressage, especially the maneuvers that would serve us well in crowded Saddlebred pleasure classes.Line driving might help the heaviness on the forehand. It significantly helped a young Arabian I owned after the Saddlebred passed. Also, just letting the horse stand there in the line-driving bitting rig with its head way down reaching for the bit should help. My Arab was weak-moving behind and I think line-driving helped him, and it's fun. Fun for the horse usually if your horse has a work ethic, which I assume is a strong suit with Friesians.
I always enjoy watching Yvonne's training videos. So much hard work for both Reintje and Yvonne, but my did it all pay off in the end. A beautiful team to watch. Thank you.
So glad she's still with you. Your three mares are just beautiful and we are so lucky to see your journey with them. ❤
Reintje looks so relaxed and ready for her workout. A lot of training goes into a dressage horse. Knowing when to collect, when to push and when to release is a skill for the experienced. A good trainer and a willing horse makes all the difference.

Very educational for those of us who don't do horses. Thank you!
Great video. I recently saw a video of a rider on a Friesian for the first time and realized how effortless you make it look. It’s a joy to watch you.
I've always loved the dressage team Yvonne & Reintje! 😊
Yvonne has achieved the highest award a dressage rider can achieve. thank you for the great video
