Marije, the easily distracted. :D Only 3 stallions in 1913 - oh, my! That you have inbreeding down below 1% surely speaks to Frisian breeders' determination to build the bloodline back up. I'm sure the modern ability to genetically test helps a lot.

    • @dawngillett2822

Totally agree. Testimony to everyone who are helping to keep these amazing horses' genetic pool more resilient.
Sadly not so good in the Welsh Section A ponies. I had a mother and son who were very closely related at the 5th level. The Welsh Section A stallions have a very small differences as they were on the endangered list due to people not wanting to keep a stallion. Huge lessons to learn from the Friesians.
      Beautiful magnificent majestic horses.
Thank Yvonne for your education and letting us see Stal G & Stal H.
Please take care of yourself and continue getting better. 💞

Such fun to see Saly & Marije playing/exercising in the arena. Saly is so elegant with her lovely trot. She is teaching Marije how to navigate in a herd--"Don't gallop in front of another galloping horse, baby!" This was a very interesting video - thank you! Has the Friesian studbook ever allowed outcrossing to approved stallions in times when the Friesians were very few or very inbred? I am thinking about what happened with the Trakehner when they almost went extinct after WWII and started introducing certain Thoroughbred and Anglo-Arabian stallions, or how Cor de la Bryere (KWPN) had a lot of Thoroughbred blood himself. Is it because the Friesian breed is just too unique?

London Hodnet This Channel is one of the most amazing beautiful channels about horses on UA-cam, THE best in my opinion.😊 There’s always something new to learn & it’s very easy to fall in love with these gorgeous ladies, i think you’ll find your favorite horses pretty quickly if you haven’t already. There will probably be more than one favorite though lol😄 From the adults, new babies this yr & the yearlings everyone usually has several faves♥️ For me out of the adults it’s 👑 Queen Uneik & Saly, yearlings: Lianne, Jildou & Jacobien. Foals: Marije & Mathilde so far, all of them are so special & these videos never fail to make me happy; trust me you’ll really love what Yvonne (lady who started this platform, she films the videos & a member of the staff for fan e Goengamieden, name of the stable)as do ALL of us who’ve subscribed, most of us have come to feel as though we know the horses & the team that they are a part of our day & that’s very special.♥️ Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!🥰

Thank you for your lesson. I watched a documentary on Clydesdales and they are having the same issues. And also too much interbreeding has caused severe health issues. A group of people got to together to figure out ways to save them. Some came over to the US and especially Canada and found a lineage linked to the first line. They took a pregnant mare back.
Horses are such beautiful and majestic creatures it so sad to see this happen.
Kudos to those who do all they can to save and preserve the lineage.

Oh my!! BEST video EVer. I know I say that with EVery statement but it just shows how passionate I am about your Fresian breed. No better setting to learn than watching 2 GEORGEOUS girls play. Funny baby got sawdust in her nose. (AAAchoo)!! Protective Mom teaching her to follow & Marije is SOOOOOO beautiful already with her regal head & becoming frame. smh You guys have the breeding down to a first class science ... thank you & your ancestors for saving this breed. I loved how Saly tucked in her perfect head, threw out her front hooves, & pranced like she was dancing!! I got a big smile & marked this my favorite video. You have 2 new smart foals with spunk & spirit. Thanks for sharing. 💕💕💕🐎🐎🐎

Wow, it is wonderful to see you riding more and more! Loved this old video and seeing many of the older horses (and the Reins, i think), especially the lovely Marije! Looking forward to your next video.

I think it is outstanding that these horses have such minimal inbreeding, yet are all so much alike! Not just grand examples of the breed, but nearly identical in size, coloration, and conformation. A successful program indeed!

Prachtig om te zien, al kan ik me voorstellen dat zoiets ook wel wat extra spanning kan geven om weer paard te rijden na datgene wat er is gebeurd. Have a safe ride. Take care.

Yes so many friesians lost in battles before as other breeds of horses in the first world war and slightly less in the second world war, this is what happens from war or gelding pure breeds but then it's necessary for some to be if there are going to be mares around on a non breeding small hold or kept at a livery yard they can't go out with the others and live a lonely life I feel if they don't want their horses getting kicked and bitten in rough play. Very interesting history thank you Yvonne for taking the time to look up the history of the friesian horse, I did know that they were favoured by my countries armies and did make up the bulk of the kings garrison pure and cross breed friesians during the English civil war against the round heads (parlimentarians)garrison against the Cavaliers(King Charles the first) I saw a reinactment at bolsover castle and talked to one on horseback soldier knights and he was on a friesian cross horse and he said they made a large number of horses on the garrisons. I think my local town called Newark was the last to fall to parliamentarian round heads , For those who follow you around the world Newark town is in a county called Nottinghamshire in the United kingdom, in the past we have had many visitors from places in America and some European countries and have quite a lot of people live in the town and villages around from Poland Latvia Romania area . So please feel free to visit if you ever want to go on historic style holiday once pandemic is contained . Put in Newark on Trent United kingdom on Google maps to give idea where it is if you are interested in that kind of thing?
