@@GESSO217 you can. Classic Casey Kasem American Top 40 countdown from the 70s and 80s run every weekend on great terrestrial radio stations all across the United States. :-)
I took the 80s for granted. The best music, movies and shows, especially the music. ‘Friday Night Videos’ & ‘Night Tracks Chartbusters’ on WTBS back in the mid eighties were the highlight of my weekend as a kid.
I always thought the Betty's Breakfast commercials were a bit much. Would you really go to a place called Betty's Breakfast and order Post Raisin Bran? And wouldn't Betty be insulted that of all the items on her menu, you chose cereal out of a box? Or were her eggs and pancakes just that bad?
The guy in the first commercial, the Trac II ad, is George S. Irving. He was the voice of the Heat Miser in The Year Without A Santa Claus. He died in 2016.
11:01 - This part used to scare the crap out of me. /the way the scenery fades to black, she turns wonky and green, that music -- it was like she was a demon getting sent back to hell.
7:10 - Who is Sally, and why is the father hounding her about where to sit and how to eat during dinner? Something tells me she lost a bet, and had to sit next to dad.
Yeah, I keep trying and trying to find some safer kinder interpretation of it. My best one is a meta analysis, and somehow the actor/director were convinced that it made sense to the audience that Sally was his son's girlfriend and the others were just friends and he wanted to get to know his possible future daughter-in-law. But they don't at all indicate that. In fact the son is sitting as far away from Sally as possible and is sitting next to the other girl so I think it was either bad scripting or bad direction. Sticking with that idea, what they forgot was for the mom to say he was coming by "with Sally and a few of his friends". Then it would make sense. Otherwise, all we are left with is a very awkward interaction with dad and Sally.
For those curious, Marv Albert was the voice-over on the Bic commercial. Regarding Dwight Lauderdale's name, not only would he have been seemingly destined to be a Florida anchorman but specifically one working in Miami.
That Goodyear Arriva ad *screams* 1980, ripoff or not! Once again I say that to see full end credits on TV is something I grew up with, not anymore! Airrrr Force Airrrr Force
Today on Walmart's website, Bic razors are $4.30 for 24 pac. That is 17.91 cents each. Less than 1980's price. Thank your big corporation for moving manufacturing to China. They would cost 10x more if made in the U.S. Think your neighbors would be happy to pay that price? Would you be happy to pay it?
That “how well you look matters” commercial for the work out clothes would never be aired today. That FAT acceptance movement would never allow it. lol
1980 was wonderful because it had that early 80s feel with a WHOLE lot of 70s still mixed in. The best of both worlds.
Unbelievable that this was almost forty years ago wow, I'm old lol
I miss the 80's
Me too. A shame we can't step into a time machine and go back once and a while.
GESSO217 someone commented on this channel that the 80'sCommercialVault channel is itself a time machine, indeed it is!

That Goodyear commercial. Even if it's from the start of the decade, it encapsulates the first five years of the decade so well.

Omg thank you i didn't know that! What an awesome little tidbit! 💕
Thanks. There was something definitely familiar about him but I couldn't quite place him.
One of my fave Coke commercials of all. Shame that a lot of commercials nowadays lack what a lot of the classics did.
they seem so lazy now. theres no rhyme or reason in them. its just random themes trying to look artsy.
"Remember when the party wouldn't take off until you started taking pictures?"
Forgot we had a Fayva store in my town growing up back then.
Just looked it up. Someone has uploaded, "Baryshnikov On Broadway" here on UA-cam.
Who goes to Betty's Breakfast and orders just any Raisin Bran? That guy does....
Exactly. I thought it was gonna be an Aunt Jemima or Bisquick commercial. 🥞
9:48 1980's cab drivers: "MORE customers? Jesus, will this nightmare never end?"
11:01 - This part used to scare the crap out of me. /the way the scenery fades to black, she turns wonky and green, that music -- it was like she was a demon getting sent back to hell.
Wow! That was some imagination you had.😁
@@djmajiktuch82 Wait, it wasn't real?!
Classic Mean Joe Greene Coke commercial, yes indeed! ( " Wow, thanks Mean Joe!)
Well, I think that probably depends upon how old you are. For a slightly older generation: Hilltop.
Bart and krusty 😂
From an era when TV did not suck.
7:10 - Who is Sally, and why is the father hounding her about where to sit and how to eat during dinner? Something tells me she lost a bet, and had to sit next to dad.
Looked like he was coming on to her. I'm guessing Tony wasn't friends with her much longer after that.

Fortunately I know exactly where I can still buy a Whatchamacallit bar not too far from my home...
They're delicious...

I hope i never have to suffer indigestion like the folks in that peptobismol ad did.
Ikr?! That was hilarious!

Hate when networks either run the end credits really fast or scrunch them on the bottom of the screen..
Pretty sure Didi Conn was on the Thomas the Tank Engine show I watched as a kid. Can't mistake that voice and smile!
6:29 - where Neil Young got the inspiration for Sample And Hold.
That Razor Blade salesmen has got some severe anxiety/ paranoia issues !
He was The Heat Miser In The Year Without A Santa Claus
Zayre!!
Completely forgot about that store haha
15:48 that bounce! 😂
I don't know what about the Arriva commercial made me crack up. Maybe it's the night shifts I'm on. Maybe it's the vocoder.
Jesus, this guy is giving me a guilty conscience like I did something 2:30
I used to shop at Fayva shoes
2:28 This dude kinda looks like John F. Kennedy
More like Robert Kennedy, but I see the similarity. He looks a bit like Robert Redford too.
It's the hair!

P*SS off outta the US then..... I'll pay higher prices to tell china to go f**k themselves!
A bag of disposable razors are about $3.00 at Walmart
(24) I wonder what terrible movie they are talking about....
It could be Where the Buffalo Roam, which was released April 25th and was largely panned. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_Buffalo_Roam

lol that creepy dad in the Ragu commercial trying to hit up a teenager
"Teenager" is really stretching it. All of the "kids" in the commercial look over 20.
